Men of War: Assault Squad 2 - France in GSM - Unit Overview 

Actually the french FT17 was the first "modern" tank of the world. It was the first designed with higher chains, fully rotative turret and cannon. It appears during WW1 in 1917. Combined with the British Mk1, this tank was the main reason of why the war became a move fight and no more a position. For French, Vichy wasn't France, but a regime. Pétain had the approbation of the people because he was considered as the hero of Verdun. DeGaulle was one of the numerous french officer to left France after the capitulation to continue the fight. (Leclerc, Tassigny,...). More than 60-80 000 French cross the mediterean sea to join Maghreb colonies. At this time, even if the French government had the hand on it, the colonies were pretty independant. In 1942, during Operation Torch, because of Vichy and German propaganda, the North Africa Governor believed that american and British wanted to invade his territory, during 3 days french and american made war, but thanks to resistance, who cinvinced the gorvernor whith their "french touch" (if you know what I mean héhé), the 3 days war stopped, and the colonies joined Allies in North Africa (battle of Bir Hakeim). During Operation Dragoon, 230,000 French soldiers coming from colonies, French Foreign Legion and ancient of 40 formed the "Armée de la Libération" and landed at Toulon the 15 august 1944. Thei mission was to freed all the South of France and join allied and free French in Alsace (Colmar) with the General Leclerc, leader of the 2nd Armored Division (that's why the actual french MBT is called AMX 56 Leclerc). Even if France wasn't the most important nation like USA or Britain, french were also very usefull to give soldiers, old quipment of 40 or intel (knowledge of the field/intel about german position thanks to resistance).

For you're information, the Canon de 75mm modele 1897, the 75mm anti tank gun, is a legendary weapon in France, it's still used at some ceremony like veterans days or take of Presidential duty as a saluting gun, things like that... Basicaly it was, at first, an artillery piece, wich was used in very big number during ww1, and, at the start of ww2, this gun was still used, but as an artillery piece, it was overly outdated... like almost all of our material, it wasn't designed for a movement war... BUT it was used very well as an anti tank weapon... Alittle bit like the flak 88 was orignaly design to take out planes, but was better at the anti tank role, the same was true about the 75mm: better at a role he wasn't orignally suited... the French ww1 helmet was based off the fire mans helmet of the time. they didn't have time to develop another one so they just mass produced fire mans helmets. That's why the bump. hope this helps

I plan on acquiring Men of War Assault Squad 2 (from Amazon that is) but to be sure, could & WILL it be able to run on any platform (Windows 8/8.1 especially?) If so, what about MOW Assault Squad 1 as well? If Sherman or anyone else could please respond I'd appreciate the help! Btw, enjoy the videos, keep them coming man! ;)

sherman you said that the 45 mm was used against panzer3's and panzer4's well both those tanks have way to thick armor for that gun to penetrate it
