@a-o7664 3 года назад
@@likhayam Oduduru fell off so hard in the pros, it doesn't make sense to me. I wonder if he was just burnt out after the 2019 collegiate season, but the guy was a non-factor in Diamond League and at the world championships in 2019 just months after he ran 9.8/19.7 in NCAAs. And now in 2021 he still hasn't broken 10 flat since college. Such a head scratcher. Even Sha'Carri Richardson struggled that first season running with pros right after the college season. She went from 10.7/22.1 in NCAAs, to not breaking 11 or 23 the rest of the year and not qualifying for Doha. Thankfully, she bounced back and has since returned to her collegiate form, but Oduduru isn't running times anywhere close yet. I wonder if running so many collegiate races just takes too much out of these athletes. I hope the same doesn't happen to Laird as I hope he's still at his best going into US trials following the NCAA season.

Boling needs to alter his mechanics a little bit. He's still young so it's a good time to make those changes. Laird is a really smooth-running machine. Both lads are going to have great careers. So many young talents right now. Feels like the good days are back for US athletics.
@lgtwzrd
@lgtwzrd 3 года назад
He needs to increase his cadence a bit. Still too slow pace compared to Laird. He is a couple of inches taller but that does not excuse the pace. He is definitely not ready for Olympics trials at this point. But it would be fun to try just for the experience.
@jameshavock9468
@jameshavock9468 3 года назад
Agreed. He runs tight. He needs to learn to relax muscles not being used to sprint, You can see it in his face, neck and hands/fists. He thinks he has to muscle his way through races (I also don't like his start in open events as he always takes both hands off the track and leans backwards in the blocks, thus tightening up unnecessarily).

There have been very fast white guys, but they have their limit. They aren't going to Usain Bolt's, Gatlin's and other super fast black guys. I am a big fan of the fastest white guy ever - Christopher Le Maitre of France. However, the same way East Africans don't win Sprints, it is the same way we aren't going to have a white Usain Bolt. Let's not put too much pressure on the kid. He is doing what he loves -- not trying to be a champion of some race. Let Boling be; he ain't better than Laird. Even in the indoors before Boling won the 200 meter final, Laird smoked him bad earlier. Laird is in a different class.

Both Americans so I'd love to see some healthy competition between them and someday they be on a US 4x100 winning team. I said he looks like a third down back. That is different than a 230 pound between the tackles back. Actually, I didn’t realize he was 6 foot. Those guys I pointed out are 5’ 9” or so. @a-o7664
@a-o7664 3 года назад
@@Mr05Chuck I said Boling was under 180lbs (not 180lbs exactly) his last listed weight is 171 lbs. That makes him 19lbs lighter than Eskridge, 11lbs lighter than Waddle and both are WRs not RBs. Also the guys you're pointing too are shorter, so they carry a stockier more compact body. Which means they actually have more muscle relative to their height because it's condensed on a smaller frame. Waddle is 5'10, Eskridge 5'9. Also, 3rd down backs have to block and pick up blitzing LBs/edge players they don't just catch passes and do fly sweeps. Boling looks relatively muscular next to track sprinters. If he were stood next to most 3rd down NFL backs he'd look noticeably smaller. Nyheim Hines, JD McKassic, McCaffrey all those guys are pushing 195-200+lbs and are shorter and stockier. Even a guy like Tarik Cohen who is 5'6 (6 inches shorter) is 190+LBs. There might be the occasional NFL gadget player under 180lbs but then tend to be shorter, so they are more compact and can take a hit better or if they aren't they don't usually last in the league very long.
