Brandon was a superstar since he was a child; holding many age group world records. I am very glad to see how quickly he's adjusted to the college program and the progress he's made.
McLear must be hating Charlie Hunter about now. Gets pipped by Hunter for the win indoors, then pipped for Bronze outdoors. Great runs by Jewett and Miller after their very sub-par semi's.
Bummer for Charlie. Missed the Olympic qualifying time by 0.55 seconds to jump onto the Australian team. Ditto for McLear, missing it by 0.60 to get onto the British team.
@M A perhaps I overstste. Very below par semi's for them. Yes, they made it, but considering how good they are, it was surprising tonsee both of them struggle like that.
Super happy for this guy. I was 18 at aau meets and we’d be looking to see what a 13yr old had run just because ain’t no way we wanted to have a slower time. Dudes worked his ass off from the very beginning eager to see what the next 5yrs will be for him
This guy is incredible and what a delight to watch him and that freshman ran a 1:44.97 from Texas A&M. The rest of the field all ran sub 1:46 and 1:47. WOW!!!!
Hunter just wanted the win more than McLear. One time I was in a race, it was between me and some other guy for 2nd and 3rd, but I knew I wasn't going to be able to outsprint him and settled for bronze. It also felt like my legs were going away, my body was okay but I could barely feel my legs so I let the other guy beat me.
I love seeing a pure guts race like this. Running negative splits can win "tactical" races but you're always gonna wonder if you could have left more on the track when you win that tactical race and still end up third
I have never totally understood what is particularly "tactical" about running slower than your best effort or choosing to jog 1/2 or 3/4 of a race and sprint like mad at the end...
@@Sneakypete777 because if you're not the fastest guy in the field over the full distance but you have good kick, it's a great way to win as an underdog
interesting to see hunter go in the middle of the pack, as he usually goes up to the front pack by 300m. I wonder if he thought that the first two guys were gonna go out too fast and fade but then got kinda surprised how they kept going, then got put out of position and had to really move on that last 150m
@@regiseal i honestly think it’s his speed that’s holding him back, he probably runs in the 48s for a quarter (mid to high), so his strength would need to be really upper echelon for him to consistently run low 1:45 and under. Just my speculation
It's very annoying, almost annoying as spoiler titles. I appreciate watching a race as if I'm watching it live....I quickly maximize the video and ignore the comment section until the end also
I watched this when this race first happened but how in the hell did the commentators not talk about Brandon miller more !?!?!?!? The dude is the acc indoor champion. Give him some respect
