I can"t believe I just found you. I've been sewing for just under 2 years, and waistcoats are my main interest. I learned 5 new important things in the first 3 minutes of this video. Thanks so much Subscribed.

@@SewpBox I really did. Any other advice would be welcome. Reading, videos, websites, anything. In particular, I’m interested in making pattern pieces for interesting details on my waist coats, for instance, like the bottom facings that you have in this video. Things like site vents and such. I have a very good basic pattern piece set for my measurements, but I would very much very much appreciate your advice on how to add pattern pieces to include additional style details.

I'm kind of annoyed that YT hasn't shown me your videos until now, when you haven't been around for a year! I hope you haven't given up this channel, your way of teaching us is brilliant. I can clearly understand it all and follow along. Thank you so much for all the advice! I've only scratched the surface of your videos and already learned so much. Please tell me there'll be more?

Another new fan. As an experienced sewer, I love to see a professional who speaks clearly and demonstrates so well. First time I’ve seen the dart with the extra piece of fabric underneath top of dart. So useful. Thanks.

Great channel! Some of the content is sometimes above my head. A consequence of my beginner status, which means that I will return for another look. I like the emphasis on precision and the care taken to explain the fine skills. It would be wonderful to see the content sorted into playlists but I know it is a bit obnoxious to ask for even more. Sorry🤗

PERFECT! AMAZING. Thank you. I am self taught, I have been doing much of what you do, not having been taught, just through experience, you explain things so well and very much exactly how I understand it. I have learned so much here too (the welt pockets specifically helped me, alot!) It's a relief to find someone who sews well. New fan here.

I loved following this tutorial. I used one of the major brand pattern company's pattern and then made slight alternations to closer match your vest. I can't believe how well it came out. Thank you!

Thanks for the tutorial. I don’t like fusing interface but I’d like to know your experience with canvassing waistcoats. Is it bulky or it’s as great as using in a coat?
@SewpBox
@SewpBox 2 года назад
I prefer a lightweight canvas when making bespoke waistcoats. Thackery Handmade has some great interfacings that are very well priced. www.thethackery.com/default/tailoring-sewing/interfacing-interlinging/suit-clothing/rovagnati-lana-20-25-natural-light-medium-weight-wool-bow-tie-interfacing-interlining-finest-available-made-in-italy.html

@@SewpBox My vest will be bias-cut from cotton plaid flannel (think lumberjack). Would you recommend that I fusibly interface the whole front panels or just the facing areas? There will not be darts. Thanks for your help.
@SewpBox
@SewpBox 3 года назад
@@davidhensley76 Hi, David. Indeed - you'll want to support the bias, so a light fusible such as weft across the entire fronts would be a good choice. I often interface the entire fronts even when on grain, as it provides additional support. Be sure to place the interfacing so that it is not also on bias.
@davidhensley76
@davidhensley76 3 года назад
@@SewpBox Thanks. I've fully interfaced several vests, but saw that in your video you only interfaced the facing areas. I hope you can produce more videos soon. Your presentation is clear and precise.

Great tutorial. Thank you. Could I ask where you get your tailor chalk pencil from as it seems to mark the fabric so easily. The ones I have bought seem to be a such struggle to see. Thank you
@SewpBox
@SewpBox 3 года назад
My pleasure. And thank you. Without reviewing the video, I'm thinking it's simply a white charcoal pencil from an art store. But I found a chalk I like much better: Jinbutsu Triangle Tailor's Chalk. Here's the link to the Lining Company out of England. Shipping prices are reasonable and their shipping speed is incredible. www.theliningcompany.co.uk/accessories/chalk/jinbutsu-japanese-tailors-chalk/

I don't understood one passage: 31:38 I have to connect the front of the lining of the front piece with the back of the front piece and the front of the lining of the back piece with the back of the back piece. It's correct?
@SewpBox

Faces (front and back) join at the shoulder seams. Linings join at the shoulder seams.

Uff, little question, does anyone have any ideas how I can apply these clothes to a 40cm tall and 60 year old teddy bear? My mother wants clothes for her old teddy bear and I should sew it, although I found an example image on the Internet for the clothes (jacket, waistcoat, hat, pants, shirt), but no real sewing patterns and instructions that you can buy can.
