Ho ascoltato Kavakos per prima volta nel 1988 ad Atene.. E mi e' rimasto impresso quale miglior violinista mai ascoltato. Gia da allora

This was a performance to a very high standard. Apart from the soloist who is indeed one of the best violins in the world, also the orchestra and the conductor were excellent. Congratulations to everybody!!!

group seems toned down for a full orchestra,still don't blame 'em for the depressing audience

Apart from the the excellent performance by the soloist, the conductor and the orchestra, the camera production is also to be highly praised. It kept the performance alive and entertaining.

So underrated! It’s sad that there are not many videos of him. Apart from the iconic Pag 5 in potato quality.

i find plenty of HD quality videos of him on youtube. as for the paganini 5th caprice video, recorded at 7 pixels per inch, at least it exists and the audio is clear. it's probably 35 years old. i heard an interview where he was talking about that specific performance. he claims he could even play faster than that. he sent that video to joseph gingold as an audition to study with him.
@Orca-stra
@Orca-stra 11 месяцев назад
@@cornel999yeah, he said that he felt like that performance was taken at quite a slow tempo. his father told him not to go any faster since the audience would not be able to hear the pitches if he did.

BRAVO !!!!. Saludos desde España.

Kavakos is very skillful technically and I like to listen his interpretatios on many occasions. Here is the different situation. This concerto if played in Kavakos way literary jumps into mysical drama right away from the first tone, out from the thin air. IMO that is unacceptable for many listeners, me included. This piece belongs to the romantic period, and that could hardly be the intention of composer. I disagree with Kavakos choice of interpretation. Simply could not listen longer then first page of scores.
