MENEMEN - Turkish Scrambled Eggs with TOMATOES, PEPPERS and CHEESE || ULTIMATE BREAKFAST EGGS RECIPE
In today's video, we show you how to make Menemen, which is a Turkish-style scrambled eggs recipe with tomatoes, green peppers, and cheese. I recently had Menemen at a famous restaurant in Istanbul called Lades Menemen (off Istiklal Street near Taksim Square in Beyoğlu district). Lades are the masters of Menemen since that is the main dish on their menu. Menemen is a runny scrambled egg dish that is infused with tomato and pepper paste and incorporated with melted cheese. Traditionally you scoop up the Menemen with some fresh crusty bread - and what your taste buds experience is just incredible! Hands-down this is now one oof my favourite breakfast or brunch dishes ever! The flavours of this breakfast egg recipe are just so so so delicious!
To make the Menemen recipe, you will need:
1 tbs butter
1 tbs olive oil
*1 tbs finely chopped onions (this is optional, not all recipes use onions but we loved the addition of them and it made the flavours almost identical to the menemen we had at Lades)
2-3 long green peppers (these are not spicy - instead you can use capsicum bell peppers)
2 medium-sized grated tomatoes
salt to taste
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp chili powder (or paprika)
1 tsp red pepper flakes
Cheese of your choice - (we used grated mozzarella and cheddar, but you can use feta cheese, Turkish white cheese or any combination of your favourite cheeses, ideally one should be a stringy variety)
2-3 eggs
