Erik and Lyle Menendez had everything. Good looks. Wealth. Tennis. As top ranked tennis juniors, they were destined for great things in life, until a shocking double homicide within the family changed their lives forever. Though the Menendez mansion in Beverly Hills seemed perfect from the outside, a look into the chilling secrets that lay within reveal a family embroiled in scandal, with two boys faced against a maniacal tennis parent who may have just pushed them to their limit.

Tennis parenting is already commonly known to give negative effects on players. Cases like Tomic’s efforts on court is reflected on what goes on at home probably.

Parents should not force their children to do anything to the extreme. Pushing them to work harder is ok, but making them play when they are sick is not a healthy decision. If you ask every tennis player that became successful, you will notice they all love the sport and their parents never forced the sport on them. Andree Agassi is an exception to this rule but I don't think parents should follow in his footsteps since he is in the 0.0001% of people. Have a nice day.

What I love most about this video is that it proves completely that you don't need millions of dollars and a crew of "professionals" to make anything of good production. Every tv station should be completely ashamed of themselves being laced by teenagers and 20 whatever year olds destroying them in production value from a laptop.

I shudder to think about how there can be worse parents. That was just insane. No breaks, all work, and everything else. Unfortunately, all that also comes at the cost of teaching certain core character and moral values. Otherwise, it is just a reminder that some people really don't know how to be parents. Space and independence is important and should not be neglected or shoved into like 4+ priority, if you're an athlete's parent.

Though my high school friends weren't pushed to this, I knew of at least one that hated tennis (not sure about life), but he was our one singles (top player) that won states his senior year. Though I didn't get to witness it, his friends said he casually and happily threw out all of his racquets, bag, and I believe I was told his tennis shoes into the school's large dumpster. Even though he came from rich parents, throwing out probably over 2k in racquets and gear shows how much he truly hated and wanted to get away from the game. I was a freshmen at the time so didn't really get to know him, but I have to almost believe that his parent's pushed him too far for something that THEY wanted. Probably being great at something you hate must be the weirdest feelings in the world.

@glizzygladiator8055
@glizzygladiator8055 Год назад
I thought I knew the Menendez story after a few documentary style videos 30-40 minutes long about the murders, but little did I know the boys truly did have super strict, almost insane parents. I only knew the side of, ‘They killed their parents, saw a movie afterwards (Batman, I believe), and went on a crazy spending spree.’ Didn’t ever consider for the first time in their lives that was when they ‘felt free’, and were actually able to pursue being their own person, but were already so broken, and unable to process the trauma they received and gave themselves. No parent should die by their child’s hands, but that kind of resentment doesn’t rise from nowhere. The parents made the awful decisions, and treated their boys in ways that makes a kid not view their parent as a parent, more like a coach that is just looking for good prospects and if you don’t fit the mold they’ll just care about your brother or make another kid. The brothers took the matter to a permanently unforgivable level though. I just feel a bit more for they brothers because they could’ve been a lot more than meat and bones behind bars.

@@steve-hm1wn I don't think (or at least I hope) any of us can relate to growing up with that sort of parenting. This obsession with winning "even cheating", "no water breaks". The best tennis players want to win but first and foremost they LOVE tennis (except probably Kyrgios, he doesn't care). This kind of approach would made people that are good but not passionate. How to deal with children with abusive parents that killed them? Those parents failed miserably in their responsibilities, they treated their children as pets that must obey training or be put to sleep. If doing that to a pet would be monstrous imagine now with your children. I think attenuating circumstances is more than adequate. I feel for them they are more victims of abusive parents than otherwise. Even if you blame all on the boys, the parents created the instrument of their own demise. Well remembered about Agassi! I think the same happens with child actors, like Jeanette McCurdy that even wrote a book "I'm Glad My Mom Died" and later quit acting altogether.
