MENTAL Harris Ford Mk2 Escort Review! Best Street Car? | Meet Your Heroes 

My very 1st car was a Mk2 Escort. Same colour, but 4-door. It had the square headlights. Got it as a 1.3L, and later swopped it out for a 1.6 Sierra engine i got for a bargain along with the 4-speed Sierra gearbox. Then got hold of a Weber 32/36 2-stage carburettor , and all this, mated with the original 1300 diff, made for a fun traffic light to traffic light car. It wasnt seriously fast, but had a great launch , which surprised a couple of Nissan Maxima V6, Audi 500E and Golf Gti owners. But only up into 3rd gear, then those other cars came past 😂. Oh the memories 😍 ♥

thats one of my favourite mk2 escorts, first time i saw that i loved it, plain bodywork, slammed on 13s with either a hot crossflow or pinto is definitely the only way a street escort should be. even though they call it south london look, to me its proper escort look, in the late 80s early 90s they all had that look, before the big horrid wheels and modern gadgets.

First car was a Mk2 coupe, Rally Pack in British racing green. Makes me happy to see these cars with such a great legacy.

Lovely old cars, but the prices they fetch are ridiculous. Mid 90s you could pick up an rs2000 in decent condition for £2500 or so. For 30/40k you can get some serious power with modern luxuries etc.

God damn that's pretty. I am a Mk1 man but once owned a Mk2 Mexico with Burton 2.1 Rally engine. . Only drawback to the nut and bolt resto was the owner painted it Audi Tornado red. Stock diamond white would have been so much better. My cousin has in his storage lockup a 2.0 Mk2 Harrier I'm trying to bug from h8m.

I had a 4 door , 1.3 , square headlights in canary yellow , never had the money to pimp it up but would`ve loved to , police used to pull me over every other week for being short with a baby face at 21 I reckon lol But they were famous for being stolen , given a 2 ltr engine , being pounded by police then eventually ending up back on the road as a Q plate as with no floor or engine numbers the police couldn`t confirm exactly which car it had been originally registered as , ask anyone from Barrhead, Glasgow that was around late 80`s early 90`s , place was full of them . Mate of mine had 2 RS 2000`s , a red flat front and 1 also canary yellow with nose cone , you could feel the grunt from it just crawling along at 30mph and he loved to floor it , pinned you to your seat as soon as he put the foot down, fantastic feeling , cheers for the nostalgia , I was laughing with you when you put the foot down lol 👍

Best street car? Well... I only once had the opportunity to drive an Escort 2. It was a proper slalom race car, it had like 170ish horses and I drove it on a race track that was already slightly to fast for the gearing. It was alright, it was fun for sure. First 2 gears were pretty beefy and 3rd was still ok. Yes it was good, but the best? I mean the big plus on an Escort is that it is super reliable and even if something breaks it is usually very easy to fix, so you can really beat the crap out of it because you know if something breaks it will not break the bank. That's the fun. You would never push a Königsegg to the limit because if you crash it, it costs as much as the GDP of a small African country. The Escort was cool, really cool but by no standard was it the best.
