It's good to find comfort here. Been single since November last year. She cheated after 6 years of such a beautiful relationship. But now all those beautiful memories haunt me so much. I feel really sad for the second guy. The constant comparison he makes to his ex whenever he meets a new girl shows he hasn't moved on from that point in his life that occurred 8 years ago. Of course, this was already obvious from the pained expression on his face. I mean, to be reminded of his ex whenever he looks at anyone or anything that remotely resembles her, it's no wonder the pain still feels fresh, or perhaps increased over time as he continued to long for her. Similarly, these painful feelings and recollections are often things I find myself dwelling in too whenever they resurface. It's hard to move on when the only comfort that saves you from this miserable feeling is ironically the positive experiences from the relationship with your ex, but it only leaves you longing for her even more. New positive experiences and joyous memories need to be made in order to move on or else the source of your happiness will always be the cause of your pain. Spend more time with your friends and family to help mend the wound. Time can only these wounds with a supportive company that consists of the people that genuinely care about you.

Yeah, I feel that second guy. My most recent relationship was 2 years ago (not as long as him, I know) and when she cheated on me, my world broke. I cared so much for her, and now I'm just haunted by those memories. Was any of that real? Now she's with my (honestly ex) best friend, and because SHE apologized for doing that to me, they both think we're cool. He never said a word about it to me. Now, time has passed, we've both grown, and I'm able to be friends with her, and I will NEVER, under ANY circumstance give her another chance should that become an available avenue (as their relationship is paper-thin at best right now). But I will never forgive my ex best friend. I won't even consider beginning to forgive him until he takes responsibility for breaking me and actually apologizes. Because it's far too common. Am 29, was thinking recently it's only been a few years since my breakup only to find a card she made me for my 21st day when i was cleaning out some old boxes, and that was only a few months before I learned she was cheating. It's painful knowing that things were in fact too good to be true, and knowing that no ones been able to compare to the her I thought I knew.

The most important thing is to stop feeling bad for yourself, push forward, conquer, and learn to love yourself. If you love someone and they dont love you back, put your time into something or someone else. Easier said than done but it gets better when you start loving yourself. I never thought i could do it until i overcame the voice in my head that kept saying I'll never be happy, i dont deserve love, and that i cant love myself.
@aidenmclaughlin1076 turn the music up louder, homie. Fill you brain with positive thoughts by listening to positive music or listening to positive things like an interesting podcast. Im no therapist but its made a difference in my life. I cut out my angry or depressing music until i could control my own thoughts, for the most part. Everyone is different but theres always a way. Even if you cant stop it, theres a way to at least cope with it. Might take trial and error to find it.
