I taught this mental maths technique to my son when he was 4.5 (you can definitely start at 4) and now he is almost 5 year old. Currently I am teaching him multiplication. He uses all the mental maths brain/mind tricks taught by me. He is also able to recognize patterns and automatically find out mental maths shortcuts as already strong mathematics connections are developing in his brain/mind. This technique is excellent for children as they are able to do additions, sums, subtractions in real time, that is mentally.
I am teaching this technique to my 2 year old now as that is the best age to start with numbers. My aim was to ensure that children do not seemental maths as a school subject to be feared but rather a subject without which we cannot live. I also plan to do live sessions for mothers, fathers (parents caregivers and grandparents 0)) who wish to learn this simple mental maths technique. This mental maths technique involves continuous repitition and involves at least 90 fresh equations which you can start with your 4 year old. Initially this technique will appear very simple but when your child/kid will start applying his/her own logic and coming up with his/her own mental/brain maths, you will be able to understand the power of this technique.
Do not be late in teaching mental maths to your kids. Your children need to learn this the moment they understand 1,2,3. They start making mental maths connections in their brain and if you target it right now then they will be mental maths champions when they grow up. Mental maths is great to improve concentration and memory too! So go for it!
