A "Fair Use" grab of a little video from The Mentalist TV show. A few Puzzle Boxes were featured in the show, and as a fan of both puzzle boxes and the Mentalist I am posting this for other collectors, makers, etc.
I ...also have a ...hammer in my drawer. Is this one of those uncomfortable moments when you realise that something you do is regarded as weird by others?
Not for violent reasons, he's just exactly the kind of person who would, for example, put your keys in a wooden box and leave it on your desk to annoy you
Give it a few years and you'll forget most of the stuff thst happened. Last time I watched it was 7 years ago and watching all these Videos is like watching it for the first time again except for some details that i remember
I didnt buy much of the romance between those two, but that last scene shows why they are good together. Jane loves puzzle boxes...and Liz have a hammer in her desk.
I thought their romance made sense. The tension was there throughout the series, but Jane couldn't move on until after Red John. Their romance was more believable than most other tv romances.
She was never supposed to be a character that takes over. She was a supporting character for Jane who already knew who she was. A down to earth character that was suppose to end up grounding him. Totally different from Beckett who was ment to be a character that you follow her journey.
On the surface is a man pulling a prank on his coworker. Underneath is a man trying to stall his best friend from leaving because he's lonely and wants her to stay and spend time with him. There's love in most of his antics towards her: he can't express it any other way when Red John is still alive.
@@55Quirll They actually make in house gun hiding spot shelves and things like that with magnetic keys so you can do stuff list slide a potted plant with the magnet under it and open the gun compartment
Jane is such a child in this scene esp when he replies to Lisbon request to get the box opened. 'you seem a little obsessed by our status, we're alive whereas the guy who made this is dead'. Lisbon then replies as if to a child "tomorrow morning". Then when he eventually gets it open he takes Lisbons keys from her bag and locks them in the box. I admire Lisbons patience with him.....😅
Just fail to understand why some people are unable to see the chemistry of Jane n Lisbon ; the attraction was there right from episode one , they became best friends in the course of time and eventually realised they were harbouring love for each other …… Their pairing has been well received by audience and everyone was elated by their marriage at the end ; never understand why a small group of people act like they did nt see romance….
If you ever watch it, the show ends with the finale of season 3. The show changes so drastically and goes downhill so fast after that point I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the rest.

I think the woman who was being interviewed at 01:10 is the same actress who played Leah Brahms on a few episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation, the enterprise engineering designer that Geordi simulated in the holodeck in order to work with..
@@chrispile3878 Considering you're bringing up the bible, you're probably out of the loop. Lucifer is a tv show (and its protagonist). What the bible says is completely irrelevant in regards to his character.
@@Mate_00 Wow... much to unpack here. First - you realize I was talking about actual Satan - not the TV show, and not Jane. I've watched both. Just because I mentioned Biblical doctrine doesn't mean I don't watch the tube. I am called to be "in the world", not "of it". Further to your comment, The Bible is never irrelevant.
The puzzle box was not evidence. Only the thing that was inside it was. Ofcourse, since Liz had no way of knowing what was inside it, breaking it was still risky, because it could have potentially broken the evidence piece inside it as well. To be clear, I'm talking about the order she gave to Chang to break the box, not the part where she smashed it with a hammer. At that point, the box was just a novelty item and breaking it was irrelevant to the case, at that time.
I bet she read about Alexander the Great taking a sword to the Gordian knot as a child and applied that to every single problem that could be solved like that asfdfsdfsfddsdfssdfsdads
Oh my god, It’s empty, that means a space an open space inside the puzzle. Someone is dying, use a damn saw and open the wood. No reason not to cheat, sorry but lives were on the line.
Wait...what?!? Wtf would some pen pushers need a hammer in her desk for?!? Who stores a hammer, in any desk, anyway?!? It makes about as much sense as the difference between a canary!!!
I knew a guy who started his own insurance company who had a hammer in the middle drawer of his desk (where a normal person puts pen and paper not giant objects like a hammer.) And it stayed there till he retired. When we were helping him clean it out he said. "Oh, yeah, I used that to hang all the diploma's and certificates and stuff you're pullin down back in the early 80's."

@@lucyhartwell2134 She still missed the point of a puzzle box, a puzzle box is better than an actual safe; why? because reasons. What she pulled is similar to a tootsie pop commercial, the one where a creature take three lick of said tootsie pop than bite it to get to the center.
@@HBQ Reasonable understanding, but the fact she used a hammer to solve the puzzle is more or less a hollow victor. Where is the satisfaction and fun? Jane didn't give a damn about any other case, Jane main focus was Red John with understandable vendetta.
@@jefflemere4609 it is a hollow victory, but it's just the fact that Lisbon isn't the type to derive satisfaction or fun from solving puzzles like this. it's just the way she is. it is still a victory, however, because she got what she needed, yknow? that's the point of the scene. it's like this funny little thing
