Where I live, for non-residents it's 20 bucks for daily parking and 10 bucks per person to get on the beach! And no chair or umbrella! BYO everything ;-) Merci beaucoup for the tour. Beautiful town! Bon appetite!

Here in the netherlands, you have mainly beach clubs whereby you have to pay for your bed umbrella which is normal to us. Hoever off course you can lay close to the sea which is free. Love your videos and every time i watch, i just smile. I love sailing but unfortunately due to my health i cant any longer, so keep on coming with your videos so can enjoy your journey. Stay safe

Okay, you got the beach club experience done. Spend the money on a lock box that you can carry with you when you go to a French bakery, buy your pastry and place in the lock box until you get back to the boat. Menu suggestion for you: use a croissant as a substitute for bread next time you make French toast. :¬) Webhead USA

Pleased you did the walk up through the old town to the cemetery ,this is the area where the James Bond film was shot with the chase in the tunnel, duty free goods can be found on the french Italie border.
easy to make tartar at home. just buy a really fresh meat (like from the butcher) and pass it through the meat grinder. in Germany there are butcher shops who will do it for you. It's a thing not only in france, but in all europe
Wonderful part of France. Have been to a few destinations on your route but not Menton - its delightful! Had to check property prices and was quite surprised at some of the appartment prices as they are quite reasonable! I'll add that to the location list for retirement :) Enjoy the travels on the Cóte d'azur! PS John those croisants are amazing - am very very Jealous as no way I can get those here in UK!!

This would be great, but you need to include the names of the places where you go to eat. Example. what is the name of the market for fruits and vegetables, as well as the name of the bakery? Where are they located in Menton? You need to give details.
All the names of these locations, I made sure to write up on the screen 😊 You can see each location and the restaurant, so you can write them down if you like or if you're visiting. I also made a bunch of Google Pins for all our Patreons as a way to say thank you for the extra support 😊
I was at the Nice and Monaco beaches July 2000 (I Remember seeing the Concord disaster on TV) and it was not as expensive, obviously, but there was a fee to sit in the shade on the beach. Worth it because it was so scenic, aka there were a lot of women (French??) topless. 😉
I enjoy all the videos but it seems that every time they pull into port somewhere and Kristina and John leave the boat, Kelly’s always stuck behind or if they do go in town it always seems like they ditch her.
Totally see how this lands, but let me assure you, I spent the most time on the boat then all of us 🙃 Many many times Kelly and John ventured out into town together and I was on the boat needing to catch up on work. The only reason why you don’t see this is because Kelly and John don’t film their ventures 😅

Maybe I’m to Aussie……..but pay to go to the beach is a No from me! SA has some of the best beaches you’ll find anywhere in the world, and not a pebble in sight!

Australia has some beautiful beaches. Recently moved to WA and I am shocked by how stunning the beaches are here, compared to the eastern states. And parking at the beach is also free here! ❤

INDONESIAAAAA!!! But supposedly the flag dimensions are different?! I know this because an F1 driver from Monaco won at the Melbourne F1 this year.. and I noticed the flag they flew behind him was the Indonesian flag.. not (technically) Monaco!!!! 🤣

You guys are doing so well at staying off the overpriced and populated touristy traps, that you’re actually finding the real reason people started traveling. Remember “ when In Rome”!!
I’m French and we absolutely don’t pronounce it Mon-ton it’s Menton, the sounds EN is not ON , if you can read phonetics you’ll pronounce it as we say it in France, and then you might be able to help others on how to be right about it. At least she’s trying but you’re wrong…

Its very interesting what you think about free beach, and expencive sunbed, I think that its free beach better, but my back hurts on sand, so some people take they sunbed to free beach. I think that is redicilus to pay in my country.... Belgrade Serbia sunbed on lake Ada ciganlija 10 to 16 euros😂

Incredibly beautiful area. Thanks so much for showing it. Something to learn, learn and practice the rolling hitch. This is what you clap on a line so you can add tension to it and then be able to get it apart later. I say practice, because when a line jams on a winch or similarly, you are going to need to do this quickly in bad weather, probably in the dark with at least a sail, if not the whole boat, on the line. I will also mention that self tailing winches are relatively new and that is why there are always convenient cleats to tail against and make fast to.
Oh yes, we were looking at that one too! But there were no spaces left.. I think we honestly got so lucky with this last spot! We were happy with anything with those winds arriving to be honest! 🥰🥰 Garavan also has a fuel dock too which would have been convenient! I love that area, I drove my Beetle around there in 91, showing my age now, but what a spectacular area., we sat outside the Casino for hours watching millionaires arriving in their supercars and flying their helicopters off the back of their super yachts.
Ohhh wow!! What a solid memory, how wonderful is that.. sounds like it’s similar situation today.. Supercars, helicopters .. yachts! Could watch the world go by and the characters arriving for hours!!! 😍 Have you been again since? I’d be interested to know if it’s changed much in terms of the city itself!

Fantastic episode, gotta love a well stocked fresh food market to use as a base. Still not sold on a pebble or rock beach. I feel a beach should be sandy. I reckon sitting on the seawall would be surreal blowing a gale with a nice 6ft wave. Can't come at paying for a beach lounge either but certainly will pay for fresh French croissants

80 euro on that well protected marina with hookup and unlimited water is reasonable but 40 euro for two hours at the beach club is crazy. Especially with the public beach right next door that didn’t look horribly crowded. Taking your own sun umbrella and portable loungers to the public beach is the way to go. Spend the money on meals or a local made Souvenir. My wife and do occasionally go to a pay beach in Fort Pierce Florida but it’s like only 6 dollars per vehicle and has nice facilities, playground, covered picnic areas and a beautiful sandy beach. We love packing a picnic lunch and can spend a whole day at the beach for very little. Great memories don’t require big bucks. There’s nothing wrong with being frugal. Saving your money early is how you were able to live your best life sailing while still young. It’s not being cheap, it’s being smart. Cheers from Wellington Florida.☀️🏝️⛵️
