im able to go at 3 to 5 km/h with the original throttle by putting it flat on the throttle and using it as a "twist throttle" and it works surprisingly well...
You know you can leave the grips on and the brake attached by simply removing the 4 small hex bolts holding the right bar on by the folding mechanism? Saves you having to struggle with the grip and from cutting the brake sensor out. Just slide the brake and throttle off with bar detached.
Hey Nathan - haha yes, we only found out that trick a day after filming this - but you're 100% right, what you recommended is a much more efficient way of doing it :-). Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for that. For those new to this scooter like me here’s a video of the screws your talking about. Around (19 secs). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_IxkNnYwN-E.html
Just wanted to update everyone as I just did this yesterday 8/24. My WideWheel Pro has a mfg date of 7/2020. -The 4 screws that hold the display together are philips screws -There is no hotglue anywhere on the board or connectors -The brake handle slides off easily if you fold the handlebar down -The rubber grip slides on very easily with a little bit of soapy water Overall an easy installation!
Good video. Just FYI: On the Widewheel Pro 2020 that I have, the screws holding the dashboard together are Phillips heads and not Allen. Also, the Allens wrenches that came with my WWPro lack the right size for the new theottle setscrew. Also, if you install the new throttle as you show it, the handlebars do not fold down. We installed it at 90-degrees so we are pushing down on the throttle instead of forward. Throttle works great! Better, more gradual control! Thanks! Minor issues, but FYI.
My board didn't have any hot glue so I pulled the whole socket out. Very precise work to put it back on again. Then my upgrade throttle came with about 1.5 meters of cord and a plug that did not fit at all. So had to cut most of the wire and solder on pins and install them in a new socket. The 3 cables are not the expected color or position as well. Haven't tested it yet because I wanted to verify that my wiring was correct. But you cheated and used a matching connector. 😉 Beyond that the throttles are identical.
The scooter should never have been sold without the new throttle. The difference is dramatic and control greatly improved. PS, no problems with scooter, it is excellent.
Hello I wonder if you can help me Iv watched your video on upgrading the throttle on Mercane wide wheel . However the link you had doesn’t ship to England. I purchased one of e bay but the connection is different and the white cable is replaced by yellow. Is the white cable the line or control cable and the red and black being +&-. Or do you no if a site ware I can purchase the correct upgrade throttle from . Regards Ken
The new throttle control cable is quite long. Can the excess length be folded up , zip tied? Maybe fold into control-speedometer box? Or it needs to be cut, spliced to shorten length?
Too much work. I want to buy a widewheel pro with the new throttle factory-installed instead. Whats the manufacturers argument for keeping the old throttle?
Hi Peter, Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, we are all out of throttles as we stopped selling the Mercane scooters a while ago. We highly suggest contacting another Mercane distributor to find a throttle. Thanks!
Hello, Apollo I'm from Russia. I have a problem, the second day I ride a Mercane Pro scooter and there is a constant creaking in the front of the wheel when driving. What could it be?? maybe a front shock absorber??
The video dosent take whit the key leaver. If you change the trotle. You must bay a new key box?. If not you have the first trotle body stil standing there. If not you cant look the scooter. In demo video onley i beginning you show a older modell. And when you pick it up at run time 1.11min out in movie. You demo a (Pro) whit "older" trolte. SAME FOR ME BUT, Dose the new look unit comes whit trolte?. If not you have to say YOU must bay thoes to togheter. Strange that this issent mention in youtube movi demo sale promo,,,,,??
Mine and possibly all 2020 models have Phillips head screws. 2 can be easily removed. 2 i cannot budge. Typically screw drivers like this are small. Access to 2 screws is impeded by the stem of the handle bar. Leverage is almost impossible. Can anyone offer a solution. This should have been a simple job, and am faced with keeping the old (unsafe) throttle.
Hey Jeff , thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately equipping the Mercane Pro with the Key Switch is a very complex process, in our situation, we equipped the 2019 key ignition to it (but the voltage meter doesn't function). We sell our Mercane Pro's with the Key Switch already equipped, and you can reach out to us on info@apolloscooters.co if you'd like to go forward with the 2019 key ignition :-).
Bruno Fosados Hi Bruno and thanks for reaching out today. Yes all 2020 models come with a key ignition switch :-). You can message us at info@apolloscooters.co if you need anything else!
@@apolloscooters9429 Good morning I saw his video with the Apollo scooter where he pushes the mode button and the button to access and turn off the scooter at the same time I did not understand well but by doing this you can change the parameters of the scooter and how to set them for everyone but it is better to do it or not? Maybe it is better not to touch anything to avoid problems with the scooter, if you make a mistake, you can reset and return the display to the factory settings or not?
Hey Max - you're right, we did include this footage unfortunately (it got deleted somehow) - but essentially just pull the brake lever/cable and its relatively easy to remove. Do let me know if that works for you :-). Thanks
Hey TheNew Earth , thanks for reaching out! This is our demo unit, we equipped the 2019 key ignition to it (but the voltage meter doesn't function). We sell our Mercane Pro's with the Key Switch already equipped :-).
The Potentiometer that is included with this scooter is junk. The resistive range is severely small and limited. This causes the response to be jerky and selectivity to be limited and touchy. The upgrade as Apollo calls it, should be included with the scooter from the manufacturer. The response from the potentiometer out of the box can be dangerous and could result in personal injury. Also there seems to be significant travel of the thumb mechanism before a response is achieved making starts jerky at best.
Hey Anthony - thanks for reaching out today! Here's the throttle link and we ship to Australia :-): apolloscooters.co/collections/newest-products/products/mercane-throttle-upgrade?_pos=2&_sid=f72cbb39a&_ss=r
There is a website i found, that has a PDF download that shows 2 methods for the install. With the other method, you do not need to remove the "Rubber Handlebar Grib".. or the Break Lever. Some might find that easier .. Here is a link for that website: drive.google.com/file/d/1vTQ9y0OFZYBo4CkNMJAYLtug5xnrARVq/view
PS - when i tried to download the PDF using the Firefox browser it would not do it. But when i used the Chrome browser it opened, & downloaded (after it downloads, look in your download folder)
can you switch the control boards from the standard to the pro version and if so would you make tutorial on how to to do this ...also would it be possible for you guys to make and sell some emergency battery packs as in ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jSLmV5K3JSA.html so i can double my range ...i would do it myself but i know ill screw it up and burn my house down thank you in advance
The brakes tyres and suspension on this scooter are absolutely horrible, it’s impossible to steer , worst scooter I’ve ever owned, I can’t believe I actually bought it , I hate it,
