But if you have Quattro why wouldn’t you have all season tyres cause that’s what’s recommended. If you have AWD you should be smart enough to take care of your tires cause you lose 1 and you replace THEM ALL
No offense. Back in the days, I drove a ford mondeo with summer tires up on a mountain in winter (was stupid for my side but the car made it) so it's not only the tires, it's also the car that matters in winter and of course, the driver.

it does matter , quattro is a beast .... Audi just started making offroad vehicles , toyota , ford and nissan are dead .... of course it's also about the tires but please put the same tires in and see which one is better

@@ANVIL888 плохо , что видео не широкоформатное , нельзя увидеть работу трансмиссии , как распределяется момент по осям . Тачка огонь 🔥 👍✌️Но сейчас начинается эра электромобилей . На Тесле полный привод и что самое главное, момент доступен с самого нуля и плавно увеличивать , то есть можно абсолютно исключить пробуксовку колёс - а это эффективность шин возводит на новый уровень.... эх , моя мечта !🤔а пока юзаю только лишь электропогрузчик .
lol, I have a 4Matic suv, I must tell, it drives good in snow, up the hill, down the hills etc... All season tires or a least some groves on tires should be good enough.

99% cars in US have All Season tires and even on dealerships can't understand why you need winter tires in winter if you have all wheel drive luxury vehicle with all safety systems
It has nothing to do with tyres. both of them are not spining tyres as seen in video. What people dont know,mercedes has that stupid electronic-controled gearbox.when it start to spin wheels,gearbox disengage itself.
On the last clip - is actually funny as I too witness similar issue few years ago on snow storm, when a Mercedes with 4Matic is driving sideways in an intersection, city street due to slight slope. Then it got pass by a RWD pickup truck and a FWD minivan with winter tires. Truly the Mercedes owner knew he needed new tires because that wasn't the first snow we had that year.

Fair enough,quattro is better,but in this video tyres are everything.Those guys in Mercedes got stuck in some really light situation,any 4x4 will get out from there with the right tyres.Just try to put summer tyres on any type of 4x4 system and go on snow,you will see the results for yourself.

Mel H Read Top Gear magazine 4matic is better than Quattro. We owned a ML with Offroad package and it destroyed every other SUV in hard terrain. But the most important thing is the driver + tyres and they are shit in this video.

You have to have the right tire to deal with the snow. You can tell who has the right tire but it is cool to see the traction control pushing the power around and then all four wheels being powered.

Seeing as we own cars from both brands in this video, Mercedes and Audi and a BMW as well, to all you who think its the difference between the four wheel drive- you are plain wrong. Its all about the tires. A winter tire Mercedes will rocket up a mountain just as easily as an Audi or a BMW and the other way around. If you put summer tires on them in the winter, they will all get stuck- its that simple...The CLS500 in this video is a bit of a different story- not winter tires can help you in a RWD front engined car...But that, again, goes for all of the brands...
Definitely mostly about tyres. I've owned 2 Range Rovers (4.6 Vogue and a Supercharged Vogue) and the much newer Supercharged wasn't a patch on the old 4.6, despite a far more advanced 4x4 system, as the tyres had a higher speed rating and were a lot closer to road tyre tread patterns. And if you believe a Quattro is superior to a Range Rover, you are truly deluded.

That is what happens if you dont have winter tires. The 4-matic is just as good as the quattro system. Perhaps even more fun as it puts 70% of the power to the rear wheels while the normal quattros pus 60% front and 40% back.
Dude, these Mercedes-Benz cars either had summer tires or were just rear-wheel drive. You can have the best system on the market, but all that is irrelevant on the wrong tires. And Mercedes-Benz rear-wheel drive systems are not ideal for these conditions. 🤦
Not about Quattro, 4matic is amazing aswell, just need winter tires, my s550 4 matic was just as good as my a8 4.0t, both had blizak tires. I went thru anything!
3:46 In order to get through that you would want to give it a little more gas. And to go without problems in this situation, you definitely want to deactivate ESP. It does more damage than it does good. In this scenario(not that high level of snow), even with summer tires, you would definitely get out of this situation doing the things I mentioned. Good luck and remember: keep below speed limits in winter.

Schau Dir die Profile an und zeig mir den Winterreifen mit 4-Längsrillen! Abgesehen von Winter/Sommer-Reifen, gibt es auch bei den Winterreifen selber massive Unterschiede. Kollege mit Billigreifen auf seinem 2.5 A4 Quattro blieb dort hängen, wo ich mit der E-Klasse mit Heckantrieb & Micheline Winterreifen ohne Probleme rauf gekommen bin.

End was hysterical haha. BWM xdrive28i owner here. Ground clearance and tires make a world of difference. I had a 2012 Honda CRV AWD with good all season tires Id get through almost everything. Just took the 2018 BMW X1 xDrive28i out in fresh snow today, no problem even up a hill to get home.
All Mercedes films are from US while Audi ones are from Europe. In majority of EU countries you are obliged to wear winter tires while in US changing tires to winter ones is not so common.
Yes. The tires. But you see, Audi owners may be perhaps smarter than Mercedes or BMW owners because they are conscious enough to go get their winter treads on *before* they get out in the snow. Audi drivers in fact love the white knuckle excitement of driving in blizzard or ice storm or whatever. Audi loves the snow.
