Mercedes AMG GT Coupe vs Porsche 911 - Which do I buy and why? 

Doesn't have look like the 911 this design has even been carried over from the old sls gullwing

but amg gt was always the loooong hood car the fact the hood now compares to a rear engined cars hood is debatable at best

The hood isn’t that long, it even shorter than current Z4 hood.

I have the new SL63, so similar shaping as the new GT. Pictures are hard because you cant get a feel for real-life proportion. Once you see the car, especially next to the old SLs and GTs, it's actually more like they've extended the rear for the most part, with only a slight cabin move forward. The hood is just as long as the old GT physically.

The previous was like a real GT with the iconic long bonnet and the classic flawless proportions like basically the SLS.

Yeah 911 Turbo would be a much closer comparison IMO. The AMG GT is not a screaming n/a enthusiast car like a gt3 is.

@@vernplaysguitar yea the GT3 Touring is perhaps the best looking version of the 911 and the turbo is perhaps my least favourite looking 911, but I think its a better comparison as someone thats shopping for a GT Coupe is likely crossshopping it with a 911 turbo. They both serve the same purpose in the market

@@rickyvalent2742 not really , cause it’s hard to compare. Mercedes is a brand more focused with road cars and mass-production for the richer market. While Porsche is made more primarily for racing, performance, and for the even richer supercar market (although they still make road-focused cars like the cayenne). If you are talking about specific cars that are made to compete with each other like the 911 and AMG gt, then yes I think Porsche is better imo

Black series is almost double the price of GT3 RS and has 200 hp less.

@@MuppetsSh0w base price was 327k. The fact that is cost so much more now is a testament to how people view that car. The GTR RS Weissach is north of 300 and these numbers are MSRP Stop valuing the cars based on the market rather than the sticker price

@@G82Watts or better reliability like any w123/w124 owner claims being a "German Toyota", 911 has the heritage that the AMG GT wish to have, V8 is only reason it sounds good

The naturally aspirated straight 6 is just a better driving engine, especially going up to 9000rpm

@@G82Watts yes ik on paper the gt3 drives better, it in fact is more track focused but the amg drives more aggressive its dynamics are more theatrical so im taking the amg.

Yet, the AMG has the sound, the look, and more special because it doesn't look like anything else the road

This is coming from a guy who is looking to buy a GT3 RS. And yes I will be buying this one too when mercedes releases all the specs.

I thought the same thing. Literally looks like they're trying to out-Porsche Porsche lol. But the grille situation on the AMG looks way to big to be elegant, which is what the overall body style is so it doesn't match at all to my eye. Should be 30% smaller at least and that gap between wheel and A pillar that you mentioned should be there too.

@@yugarten8523 That's exactly my point. For users who only care about the looks and badge. AMG GT is the perfect choice for them. But for car enthusiasts, 911 is a more compelling choice. A 4300 lbs+ sports car is simply abhorrent.

@@fredsalfa alot of mercedes have had that long nose body style it's just the headlights that look different.. so not really. Seeing a newer model 911 compared to old is obvious in person

new is only temporary. Before long it won't look new and the 911 will still be a more beautiful, timeless design, and I don't care if everyone else has one because you can spec them out to be individual like crazy lol. I'd never buy a car based on the fact that other people have them, that seems silly, I buy a car for me, not for people to see me in it - but the two people I know who have an AMG... they both care a lot about what other people think and want to be seen. Maybe MB knows that and tries to keep appealing to that. just my opinion

I'm genuinely surprised he hasn't covered it. I think its a solid design! At first glance it does have some Toyota in the front end, but after watching several videos of it, that's kind of gone away for me.

@@The1SSGrantI agree. With the headlights/light bar it’s tough to get away from new prius/camry comparisons but that roofline is gorgeous. I’m honestly just happy somebody’s still making coupes.
