Mercedes-Benz 230SL engine test 

Hello Afthartos1,Thank you for your question. I do not exactly why your car is misfiring after 4000 rpm, but here are a few things to check. 1. Ignition system, correct gap on points, good cap, rotor, wires, correct Bosch WR7DC sparkplugs, ignition timing correct for your distributor number, distributor in good condition with advance weights free and return springs not loose.2. Valves adjusted, timing chain not stretched, good compression on all cylinders.3. good fuel, fuel filter OK or new, fuel pump pressure and volume according to workshop manual4. Fuel delivery to injectors is good. While engine idles crack the compression nut to each injector and make sure fuel is coming out.5. Be sure the linkage from the injection pump to the air inlet is working and synchronized. If not synchronized the pump can start to operate before the air inlet opens or vice versa. Make sure one does not open before the other. Usually the fuel injection pump is NOT the source of the problem.Also, as the car idles pull one sparkplug at a time and notice if the RPM drop is the same for each cylinder. Dear friend, i d like to ask you if you know how to "regulate" this engine. I have one car like this and here in Greece i can't find someone to know how to regulate it. Someone told me that this car has 2 stages of regulation, one in low rpm and one in high rpm. If i accelerate until 4,000 rpm it goes very good. After that we have misfiring. Do you know how to solve this problem? Is it possible to make a video with this regulation? Thanks for your time! Regards from Greece.
