From personal experience Amsoil fuel efficient Atf is the best in the world. I have used it in 3 Mercedes that I have owned and currently own. The Mercedes spec 236.14 and 236.15 fluids are not backwards compatible. When they brought out the new 722.9 transmission, they wanted to make sure you could only use Mercedes fluid. They did testing on O-rings. They used Viton (purple in color) on the shift solenoids. If you used a Atf that has detergents in it. It will soften the Viton o-rings and you will get harsh down shifts. Eventually you will find yourself at the dealer, and they will be selling you a $7,000 transmission. I personally went through this scenario, but had the GL 320 towed back to my house. Dropping the Valve Body out of the transmission is pretty easy. I found that one of the Viton o-rings was blown out, the rest, very soft and broke apart when changing them. I put new regular black rubber o-rings on the solenoids and put everything back together. 9 qts of Amsoil fuel efficient atf and the thing shifts like a dream! This same thing happened a few months later on my Mercedes R500 with the same transmission. I did the same service with new o-rings and achieved great results. Mercedes realized their folly when they were having lots transmission failures with in warranty. Lots of transmission control module/speed sensors going bad. They changed to the 236.15 spec. I believe they put the detergent back in with that spec. Both Factory oils look way bad in a short time after being ran. 236.14 turns an ugly brown. The Amsoil looks great, pretty much brand new. I hope this helps someone who has Mercedes transmission issues.
I'm not sure I would double check the lookup guide This will give you the exact fluid in capacities for your year make model in engine size - Find Products For All Vehicles - www.amsoil.com/guides/?zo=5331179
Yeah it's amazing how it flows with less parasitic drag and the transmission runs with less vibration because it has a higher film strength because it's the 100% synthetic and you'll notice a little bump and fuel mileage as well and cleanliness and the oil will thicken much slower
AmSoil- Best oil and fluids in the industry period. I changed my trans fluid my 06 TownCar. After 70000 miles, when the trans tech dropped the pan during a service, he was shocked how clean and pristine the pan and filter were. I then put a new load of AmSoil atf into the car and never ever had any issues with my trans. My TownCar, running full amsoil products use to avg 26-28 mph on the highway. Fantastic. Why I have used AmSoil for over 35 years. It’s the best. Worth every penny spent.
I changed my 2003 Envoy transmission fluid over to Amsoil OE Fuel Efficient. The transmission does shift faster and smoother than before, and pulls good also. Can't wait to see the results when I upgrade to signature series! Thanks for the good info!
It is nice to see more transmission fluid cold flow tests, also other fluids like manual fluids which should be tested too. Manual fluid often stay in the gearbox for its entire lifespan but I’m not convinced that is a good idea.
It's not a good idea, but at least manual transmissions don't have internal solenoids, valves, and other hydraulics to be damaged by old fluid like autos do. The tiny wear particles will still increase the wear on gears, bearings, and synchros though if the fluid isn't changed regularly.
I am planning to change old transmission fluid in my car, gradually (2 liters every time). If I mix old transmission fluid (which is of unknown brand) with new one, would this be a bad idea?
Man I need to get this in my w205 c300. You gotta turn the engine over by hand to drain the torque converter. I had them change the trans for awhile but factory fill will never beat amsoil.
It's from a Smurf what would you expect 😃 yeah I was surprised the first time I did a transmission fluid change on a S550 Mercedes I was surprised the color of it. I tell you what though hell of a great product and Mercedes-Benz really do have a great vehicle. I kind of started falling in love with them ever since I've been working on them. There could be a 2013 SL65 AMG in the horizons......
This was interesting. There are a few oils out there that says they meets MB236.10 MB236.14, but also MB236.15. The 722.6 tranny can do 236.14 but not 236.15.... a bit confusing can I use it them or not?

You can use the Amsoil FE in a 722.6 that specs 236.14 no problem. It satisfies the kinematic viscosity requirements of the 236.14 spec. We can get deep in the weeds on ATF specs but at the end of the day, the spec is in a range and Asmoil is able to meet the number by using very good base stocks. I'm using the Amsoil in two 722.9 NAG2+ trannys, one rebuilt 50k miles ago, one serviced at 40k, 80k with blue MB or Pentosin atf and recently switched to Amsoil after a leaky seal was replaced.
Well they all do that if you don't change the fluids and clean the magnet replace the transmission filter and put in high quality fluid. Should I say it's normal wear and tear
I nearly thought you were going to speak French and it felt weird imagining your voice in French 😂 I'm just surprised the 236.15 ATF isn't sold in a Mercedes-Beanz packaging, because usually dealersheeps only sell parts with the manufacturer's emblem, showing they passed the validation processes. Very good fluid nonetheless, flows quite well. But like you say this doesn't show what additives are in them and how much they last in the long run. I personally had my GS flushed at the dealersheeps with WS fluid. It already feels a bit better than before, and at least I'm sure now that it didn't make my transmission slip, and because I let them chose the parts and do it, I have a warranty. So now that I know, Amsoil ATF soon maybe.
Yeah he was just messing around 💯💯😉 This is a 2011 Lexus GS 350 transmission fluid change with this lubricant and it made a huge difference in the way it shifts - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sGzTtXVP24c.html

Not sure what do you mean the viscosity is on the CST which you'll see that one on the C full technical datable Within and there's different ways they measure it when it's cold and it operating temperature but there's always a range on any fluid and it depends on the component but DM's oil does meet a lot of this specifications and you can double the severe service interval for any specification it's recommended for that's how good the film strength is👍
The kinematic viscosity of the Amsoil FE ATFs are thicker then Titan, Fuchs, Pentosin, Motul etc 236.15 Atfs. Amsoil is still within the spec for 236.15. Why does this matter? Run the super thin ATFS past their limit and watch your friction rings glaze and burn. Amsoil will still be working fine. You can cook any ATF and any transmission but the Amsoil is giving you extra protection at the extremes.
Yeah it just depends on the application and the specifications for that component. Let's give a man a fishing pole & show him how to fish. Together! Would you use amsoil signature series atf in your sl550, or would you stick to the oem? My mb takes that blue atf but when I had partially changed my atf I used amsoil signature series atf. I got all mix comments from people by doing so and most people actually said stick to the OE and never mix others' types of fluid for transmission but I did anyway. It's been a year and it still running ok. Is it ok to mix those to fluid? Because I didn't drain all atf out or my transmission and probably 60% oem fluid in there with 40% amsoil signature series atf

@YouLubher I'm not new and under your dealership am a pc member and I been using amsoil engine oil atf differential fluid brake oil and fuel addictives (upper cylinder lubricant and pi performance improver and dominator octane booster)in my 2 motorcycles and 2 suvs. I love upper cylinder lubricant and use every fill-up. After starting using upper cylinder lube, my oil consumption is now "0". I ran one of my suv with amsoil signature series, and every fill up, i used upper cylinder lubricant (9k miles) almost 10 months, and I have not lost a single drop of my engine oil yet
Thanks for the video Eben! Just did a transmission and filter change on my 05 Tundra with the Amsoil OE fuel-efficient ATF. Was hard shifting into first gear before, now that hard shift has gone away completely! Amsoil makes an amazing product. It would be cool to see both the Amsoil OE and Signature Series ATFs vs the OEM spec fluids. Ideas for the future!

I would have liked to see the 2 brands poured down a slide at the same time to see witch one gets to the end first, I've seen this done with engine oils with interesting results.
That's a great suggestion. I'm not really into the pouring stuff like that on different materials that it clings to because the adhesion of the lubricant will also slow it down so it's not really that good of a judgment in my opinion. Amsoil has a very high tenacity to cling to metal components which keeps the film between the metal and that's what makes it such an exception especially with the gear lube and the transmission fluid. I appreciate you being a part of my RU-vid community and I appreciate the suggestion 😉☕😃
@@Syntheticoilprotection The whole clinging thing is generally the point though plus to see how it performs during a run down a slope at below temps gives you a good idea of flow characteristics. Check out Project Farm's video on this subject, very interesting.
As you'll see with my channel it's very minimalistic very few edits very few camera effects and so on and so forth I like to keep it basically straight up and as simple as possible that was my goal with my channel and I've kept it that way since the beginning. Kind of what you see is what you get if you buy the products what you see on these videos is going to be the same thing that you get when you try it on your own vehicle. I always like to be 100% with everyone and that's the way I've kept it since day one.
@@Syntheticoilprotection :( I was hoping to find someone that would test Amsoil transmission fluid similar to engine oil, that's why I visited your channel, it's all good though, thanks for the reply and have a great day.

Appreciate the video. But you’ve went as far as to buy a deep freezer. Couldn’t you have built a something that dispenses the fluid more equally with exact liquid measurements and without human error?
Right now you’re just tilting it with both hands to let the fluid flow. Its not really scientific. Build something that takes you out of the equation, one single tilt and the fluid flows at the exact same time so we can really see who won. Along with filling the fluids to the exact measurements. This video was a perfect example of that Mercedes having a little bit more fluid which can skew this test
I see what you're saying very small subtleties. Thanks man I agree 100%. I do it just to show the basics not looking to get 100% scientific in any way because I'm not a mechanic and I'm also not a scientist. I like to just keep things super simple to me less is more. 💯 I thank you for your contributions and in the future we may get more technical 😉😊☕
Amsoil 5w-50 is the only engine oil I use in my 1000 hp e63. I recently built a stronger trans and will be switching the fluid over to this amsoil trans fluid which is the reason for my searching . But I am curious to know if the amsoil racing trans fluid would work well in the 722.9 trans and allow for faster shifts with better clutch holding capacity . Or even add just a quart of the racing trans fluid to the amsoil fuel efficient atf .
That's a great question I have absolutely no experience with any racing applications of that type of power. I definitely recommend the signature series ATF will make it run a lot smoother. With more protection and heat film strength. If you're new to Amsoil this is my personal link it will save you about $33 and $100 order and I would also recommend running the 15 w50 Dominator racing Oil If you're running that type of output and high heat driving. Amsoil for transmission in Mercedes’ strictly., blue fluid by Mercedes creates problems around 160000 miles in earlier generations 7 speed even in newer generation too. That problems occur in torque converter clutch as glaze . Blue or red doesn’t Matter only look for spec. And amsoil is best for Mercedes’ . Based on Personal experience .

That's a great question The difference is the viscosities the blue one is called fuel efficient that is basically for most of the newer vehicles that are more fuel efficient. The multi-vehicle red is a little bit thicker and that's standard ATF fluid that goes in older vehicles all the way up to about late 2010. Most new vehicles all take fuel efficient ATF.
