How to install CarPlay for audio 20 NTG 4.5 head unit. This is a Mercedes-Benz W212 E-Class 2012 but a lot of other MB models use the same system. You could also get other CarPlay decoders for Audio 20 or command head units.
So far after using this system for about a week now, and are really pleased with the interface and how smooth everything run. The original system is still fully usable when ever you like to use it. Is also integrated with the original buttons, you could ask Siri from your steering wheel button for directions or send a text or other things.
This also works with android auto wired connection with usb cord and have a lot of other functions as HDMI, front and rear camera, airplay for iPhone, AutoLink for android. Check the buy link below for all functions and specifications.

Dude I keep thinking I’m going to do this for my 2011 W212 coupe. You helped me do a few things on my own but WOW I don’t know if I have the fortitude to tackle this. Pleased to hear that my videos coming to use. Is not really that hard, is kinda seems messy with all the cables but when you have it in front of you is really easy to understand and execute. Best advice I could give is not to stress when doing the install, prepare for a full day with all the steps and testing the device before assembly. Be careful when removing the screen if you choose to put the unit back there. Most installers seems to put the unit behind or under the glovebox but is probably same amount of work if not even more.

Nice video, after 5 times watching I finally have a guts to install it myself, only issue that I have is Wireless Apple Carplay is not working but Android Auto is working wirelessly and I also installed a reverse camera but the dynamic line (trajectory) is not showing but camera operates normally. Wondering if it is due to my model is Audio 20 with NTG 4.5 which originally doesn’t have video input for reverse camera? Also wondering what brand of that box you have? Mine is Limcet box, maybe the wireless apple carplay issue is this brand faulty

Thank you for this very nice and detailed video. Is there a specific detail to identify the correct NTG model of my Audio 20 (SA Code 523) system in my C Class W204 (year 2012)? Also there is no reverse cam in my car. If I install a cam will it be possible to use it with the trajectorie markers and parking lines etc?

You don’t have rout the AUX cable to the center council. Just use the cars original Bluetooth 👍🏻. Audio quality is great since I am still using the original Bluetooth and I could still play music and answer phone calls from car play 😁

I tried it too, for my R172. Although the screen size is different, the aspect ratio is the same, and I had the same problem as you. The image is vertically stretched, because these screens are 5:3 and the box outputs a different aspect ratio. Did you notice it? I emailed the seller, but unfortunately I did not get an answer.

Don’t have any AMI port in my car so I did not use the cable at all. Everything works good without it.

Don’t know the technical how everything works. But when I have Bluetooth to normal system I could use whatever menu I like but when disconnecting Bluetooth to normal system is only working from AUX menu.

Great video well done! Does this also effectively upgrade the Bluetooth version? With my original 2010 unit I can barely stream a song due to slow Bluetooth it seems. I need to understand CarPlay better I guess. Thanks again!

Yess I believe so because I don’t need to have my phone connected to the normal Bluetooth so should definitely upgrade your system. Not really sure about the technical for CarPlay but have my phone only connected to it and working really good.

@@MB212hello sir, i have an W212 from 2009 and i ordered the NTG4.0. I am just wondering if the volume of the sound will be low because of the AUX. I‘ve Tried an AUX Adapter for the music and i realized that the volume was waaaay lower than the adapter with the frequences via radio. And Since the Apple car Play will be installed with the output of AUX, i am wondering if it will be with a lower volume too or if its not the case. I would appreciate an answer.

Nice video! About the wireless Android Auto, have you tried enabling it in the Android Auto settings on your phone? (Settings/Apps/Android Auto/App Notifications - or something like that, my phone is in Brazilian Portuguese)? I have this same module installed on my C-Class (also Audio 20) and wireless works really good paired with my Galaxy Note9.

Interesting but I don’t have any android phone to test it out unfortunately. I did think it was only possible to use android auto with the cable was sure I did read it somewhere. I need to test this out later when I have access for a android phone.

Google added the support for wireless Android auto recently. When I installed the interface it wasn't supported, but later on Google updated the Android Auto software; I tried and it worked quite well - occasionally it will refuse to connect but it works after disabling and reenabling Bluetooth and WiFi on the phone. Probably RoadTop and the other sellers on AliExpress haven't updated their manuals or maybe not all Android phones support it so they don't advertise that function.

Yess if you have original camera is working as before. You could change in settings for original/aftermarket, as soon you put in reverse with original camera is change menu.

Amazing video instruction. Have you connected Aux, I couldn't see it? Otherwise how the audio signal from Android comes into original audio system. May I ask also a question regarding a rear camera. I have the video signal from the aftermarket camera connected to Comand via RCA/fakra adaptor. The Comand switches to camera automatically when reverse gear is on (set in engineering menu). My question is: have you tried (or could you try) whether the camera will have a priority over all modes also in case of this Android device connected? I want to keep the current connection of camera directly to Comand, not connecting via Android device if it's possible. This issue holds me back from installing this device. Thanks in advance for your help.

Don’t really know the use for AUX I have not connect it to my car and everything still works. The CarPlay unit is wired to the original system so the sound coming that way. That’s no problem with the rear camera you could chose in the CarPlay menu what’s happening when you put the reverse gear in. You could have it switch to original screen/rear camera or CarPlay unit camera.

Yess you could also buy decoder for NTG 5.0 but for some models is not needed with the actual module, it could be coded in and you not need to redo the cables and things like in this video. I read about the NTG 5.0 system and CarPlay and is kinda messy to understand which models that have it or not have it. But what I understand is that your unit need to be updated and then you could buy a OBD dongle really cheap and get CarPlay, but you need to do some own research about it because I could not get you 100% right answer on that sorry.

@@MB212 thanks for your answer. Yeah I'm also not sure if i need it or if coding is enough. I heard about this obd adapters with the carplay coding. Just plug and play and carplay is on your system. I have the s212 mopf. The last of it, from 2016. I think it came out 2014 and since that it got many upgrades, especially the ntg system firstly with becker now with garmin. I try to find it out. Thank you. Keep going with your content. Its nice to see some modifications and how to do's on this car👍🏼
