Mercedes Benz R129 Soft top removal and installation Video 

Me: I can probably DIY this, let me watch an instructional video. Me after watching video: Yeah I'm just gonna pay someone to do it.

This is a great video . I have been looking for an R129 convertible top replacement video and this one is great . This video makes the installation easier .

I am a Japanese trim shop. I have installed a lot of this top. They seem to be working very smoothly, but they actually need to adjust the fittings. It takes a lot of time and you will regret trying to install it...

I'm really handy and mechanically inclined but this is an intimidating job to me. My normal mindset is if other people can do it, so can I. But, this is a job I think better left to pros

It would be so much easier (and practical) if the top arrived already affixed to a frame, and you then just bolt the top into place? Afterwords, you can simply send back the old top assembly, for the recycling/recovery of the old top frame, to be reused! At any rate, here it takes two experts considerable time to do this job, and because they are experts, there are no snags. Chances are, things can be more problematic for the inexperienced folks attempting to do the same job. I have rebuilt engines, but would I try a convertible top replacement? (Likely not!) Useful video, in the sense that I now know this is not something I want to do on my own! :)

with all of the issues these soft tops have, can you just delete the whole thing and go hartop only?

So I can just take this video to a shop and tell them to charge me 19 minutes of labor?

Can you just take the whole frame off? I just need to replace the rear plastic windows and it will probably be a million and a half times easier with it off the car but I don't want to totally take the soft top off lol

About how much time is required to do this soft top replacement
