Hi from the UK..Just caught this.. Respect to you, not an easy task especially to do it yourself.. Last time I had this done here on my W220 2 years ago it cost me close to £1,000 I now have a W221 which I love. Much better car and significantly improved quality and build standard. Subscribed.

Great job. Just wanted to add that they say you're only supposed to lower the car until the tire is barely touching the ground when turning on the car to let the brand new strut inflate. Not sure how truly important that is, but figure since it doesn't cost any extra $$ for that step better safe than sorry.

@jaguarbenz9632
@jaguarbenz9632 3 года назад
Hello bro, I have some questions to ask: I keep get suspension malfunction warning light. What could be the issue
@BEARDEDHANDYMAN
@BEARDEDHANDYMAN 3 года назад
without physically looking at it, from my knowledge if the malfunction light comes on it can an air leak. do you hear your pump kick on constantly or car uneven? if so have it checked right away because the constant running will cause the pump to stop working as it's overworking itself. this is the best answer I can give you because without trouble shooting it can also be the relay, compressor, valve blockage, or suspension shock issues. I recommend getting it looked at right away before a simple air leak can turn into something more serious damaging more on the system. Thank you for watching my video and hope you became a subscriber.

@@BEARDEDHANDYMAN Thanks bro! No the compressor runs as it should- runs for few on start and turns off. The car is leveled however my suspicion is either the valve block level/height sensor. I don’t suspect the front airmatic suspension since those are new and i also did soap water test and came positive. The car hasn’t been driven for at least 3.5 years since I got into an accident. I bought it from auction and and I am fix it. Anyways does yours have acceleration suspension sensor? It’s mounted inside the around the area where the front airline connects into the front suspension. Also in idle mode, how long does it take before the radiator fan kicks in? I have fresh radiator,fan with coolant full yet I keep getting engine coolant temperature warning light. Thanks!

Yes, you have a leak somewhere. Might not be specifically the suspension but can be the line. Most definitely will have to troubleshoot and find out. i am having trouble finding a replacement for my s550 4matic 08. It has two devices on the strut (2 tubes) and if im not mistaking yours look like it has two objects on the strut as well. But, when you show the replacement it only has one tube device on the strut. Maybe this is the upgrade for the old part. And is there a difference in the left and right front strut so they wont be put on incorrectly? I need both sides. Do you have a link or number to arnott. I ordered the incorrect part on amazon just want to get the correct part this time. Maybe they will ask me my vin number for my car when I order. I take it my car is a 221 and not a 209 but im not sure but it 4wheel drive 4matic. Thanks I know its alot.
@BEARDEDHANDYMAN
@BEARDEDHANDYMAN 4 года назад
Thank you for watching my video and hopefully you become a subscribed as I have more vidoes coming out soon. To answer your question the tubes you are talking about is the sensor for the shock and the other one is the brake sensor which is separated while taking the air suspension out. Mine is a 2012 and the best advice I can give you to ensure you get the right ones is to go to the Mercedes dealership with your vin number and they will give you the correct arnott number for you to search online. Make sure you tell them which brand because they also have bilstein they use on Mercedes. If you go online to Arnott website you have to make sure you have correct information in order for you to get the right part number. Hope this helped you but if you have anymore questions let me know
@lionelroberts6587
@lionelroberts6587 4 года назад
okay so yours did have two canisters that come off together in one part. And , the replacement arnott only had one canister on it. The dealer said they only use the original mercedes parts and it came with to canisters on it. So it must be the case that the replacement is upgraded and dont need both canisters. Im going to have to spend at least 1400 for both if i want warranty from arnott. There is a company called sunoco that said they will send me a pair for less than 500 buck but only 1 year warranty. im undecided.
@BEARDEDHANDYMAN
@BEARDEDHANDYMAN 4 года назад
@@lionelroberts6587 I'm not sure what you mean by two canisters. Are you referring to the plugs? Do you have a pic you can show me? I came across the same issue with Mercedes dealership. If you got the correct part number from them use that to cross reference at Arnott website. Mercedes was charging me 1200 per air suspension, arnott web site 900 and other auto parts store about the same. I went to rock auto and paid $550.00 per one and lifetime warranty with a 100 or 150 dollar rebate i got back from Arnott. Can't recall. I wasn't to keen with Sunoco brand. I like reputable makers and especially that type of money you spending had to be some warranty included. When I get a chance I'll look at the video again and screen shot the part and see what your referring too

@lionelroberts6587 4 года назад
@@BEARDEDHANDYMAN i dont know how to upload a pic on this feed but i carefully looked at your part ,9:05-9:20 on the video, and it has the two canisters on it before you took it off. Then your replacement looks like one canister on it . Arnott site emailed me and they recommend the Rockauto online as well. Im going to order from them and I guess i supposed to send my part in later after there's arrive. I dont even see a working number for that company but i will order from them. They are cheaper then Autozone , Advance, etc. about $1000 with shipping and tax as opposed to $1450. And the exchanged part from Arnott does have the two canisters on it. Even the dealer knew what I was talking about when I said "canister on it". You probably never noticed because your replacement only had one. Look at your video at 9:05-9:20 right in your face is two big components, not one. LOL. BTW is Rock Auto there in your town, or did you order it online and how long was the wait? Thanks you have been a Big help
@BEARDEDHANDYMAN
@BEARDEDHANDYMAN 4 года назад
@@lionelroberts6587 first and foremost lol 😆, I just looked at the video and I see them. Do apologize, it's been awhile since I've done that job and it was the only air suspension I have ever replaced. Regular struts and shocks don't have it. Again my apologies and no, your not crazy 😬😬 if I remember correctly the Arnott does have two canisters also. From my knowledge that I remember MB puts Arnott or Bilstein in their cars. You are correct, Rock Auto does not have a number to call at all. It's all done through internet or email. That's why you have to ensure you got the correct number. Trust me Arnott is ahead on their products. You can't beat lifetime warranty. You can also call Arnott themselves to give you part number for your car and put it in rock auto search. They might tell you warranty only through them but not true. Anyone that sells their product also give the warranty.
