If I wouldn’t have a Mercedes, my second choice would be an Audi, Porsche and last a BMW (in that order). To me, despite BMW being easy on the eyes, the drivers reputation and exterior design language doesn’t cut it for me.
I agree with your list. I think BMW’s new design language is hideous-and has been slowly getting uglier since around 2015. Currently, I have a ‘23 GLE, but in my 20s I was in love with “Bimmers.” I fell out of love with the brand after the F30 was replaced with the new design language. Just horrendous. 🤦🏾♂️
One of the best short reviews I ever came across. Yes, the cars are now so different that they are for two different customers or for the same customer who feels different at various times or whose mood changes at various times. The BMW 7 Series looks huge, specially from the rear. The 7's front fascia, headlights and lines are a huge put down. Looks very busy. But for such an imposing appearance on the whole, I am now prepared to ignore that downside. The Benz S as always is elegance personified. Nothing even comes close. But this S seems a bit small, specially at the rear. The S is down on overall length as well by 4 inches. 208.2 inches for the S Class vs 212.2 inches for the 7 Series. My only request would be - Dear BMW, please revert back to the traditional BMW headlights with halos or semi-halos for your flagship 7 Series. I have been a loyal BMW customer since 2016. We decided against the latest 7 Series due to those headlights and that busy front fascia. But after this side by side comparison and looking at how huge that 7 Series is vs the S Class, we may buy the 7 Series again. But please address those headlights and front end for the LCI refresh. 😪🙏😢😰
Went to look at the S class this weekend. I have the GLS 580, this is my 5th one. Wanted to switch to a car. The only problem is I heard the new body will come out in 2025 which may be a deal breaker as my lease is up in September. Do you know if this is true?
Ok, so I’m a lifer when it comes to owning the S Class. But I switched to the 7 series (I7) because I wanted a big electric vehicle (I’m a big guy) and the EQS is too small on the ingress/egress at the driver’s door. When MB decides to make the S-class fully electric, I might come back. Full disclosure, having that 32-inch TV in the back is the GOAT! Sorry MB.
Both of those cars are for different driver i own the new 760 mines is the same color as the one in this video except mines have the m sport professional package the 7-series is going to stand out more than the s-class
Good review, I too am benz-biased despite owning both brands. Mercedes does this segment far better; this is about elegance. Not whatever BMW was going for!
