Hey brother do you remember where you put the box at Im stuck at the box part and don’t see no room at all to run fibers to get thru the trunk do I have to remove to whole panel in the back for the speakers or Is there enough space under there for the fibers to run and sit flush ??
Hi Jacob. Left rear corner is where I ran the fibers into the trunk. I don’t remember if there was a hole already or if I had to make one. I remember It being a little tight, but you can get it through without removing the rear deck/speaker cover. I think There was a thick padding under the cover so you’d have to cut that for sure. Remove the cover in the trunk. Remover the left side one and the upper one and look from underneath, if there’s a hole you’ll see it from the bottom if not you have to make one. Work from the bottom. And as for the box, there is no room at all, anywhere. Left or right. So I put the box outside of the cover. The upper cover. Once you run the fiber optics, put all the covers back and put the box on the left rear corner. So when you open the trunk the box would be on the left side all the way in the back upper corner. That’s where I secured the box and made a custom cover to cover it up. Also if you do have to make a hole, feel the area from the top and make sure there aren’t any wires there before drilling/cutting. Let me know if you get stuck or have more questions. Thanks.
I use a needle. If you have to use a drill for with whatever size fiber optics you have. You can get a bit set at harbor freight tools. Item number 61526. It’s a 30 piece set with 10 different sizes from 0.5-3.0mm
Hi. Bending doesn’t really leave any marks. And If it does, it’ll go away after some time. But yes if you want to do it right, you’d need to remove either the windshield or the rear glass. Just measure the headliner and the windshield before removing, on some cars even that isn’t big enough. You still might have to bend a little. I never remove the windshield, it can break, and it’s pretty expensive. Specially this car. Even if you call a glass guy, they never guaranty anything when removing. Whatever you decide, Good luck.
@@S-RankAuto Great Video!!! i used your great disassemble information for dropping headliner in s560 to add the rear led headliner speakers that didnt come stock. thanks for your video
I can do it for $2000, I actually charged more on this car but I have better prices now. This one got over 1200 lights, if you want to go less, price will be less. This specific car is very difficult to do because of all the metal framing on the headliner. If you go else where, make sure they know what they’re doing. I just did another one where the guy went to elsewhere, because I was busy and he didn’t want to wait, and they messed up the entire headliner. Customer was ready to purchase a new one but I was able to repair it and redid the whole thing all over.
You have to drill holes in the metal brother, you can get a micro bit set at harbor freight tools. It’s a 30pc set. I think it was like $4-$5. Has 0.5mm - 3.0mm bits in there. They break easily so don’t give it too much pressure when drilling. Maybe get 2 sets of the bits just incase.
That’s what I used bro. If you can find some better quality I’m sure It’ll do a better job. But I couldn’t find thing anywhere. Just the ones at harbor.
Have a IG bro???? I got my s550 stolen and they cut some wires. I need to figure out where one more wire go in the rear and which colors match which in my headliner. U have pics that can help???
So by look at the video, u showin one of the wires is not in the panel that you took off but its in the panel attached to the roof mannnn but where🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️i know its in my face i jus gotta look harder man
I’m sorry bro but this video is all I got. If you don’t see it in here then I don’t think I can help you out. Try an electrician, they have special tools and can figure out what goes where quickly.
Hey Edgar. This one has no room anywhere for the box, I had to make a custom bracket and secure it under side of the rear speaker panel. So when you open the trunk, all the way back, left side upper corner. I made a customer cover for it as well to cover it up, but you don’t really need to. I ran the fibers down from the left side, behind the left C pillar. I don’t remember if it had an opening or not, If not, you’d need to cut a hole to run the fibers through into the trunk. Make the hole from the bottom, this way you don’t need to remove the rear (deck) speaker cover from the top. Let me know if you need more help, Thanks
@@S-RankAuto I appreciate your response, I'm still putting in the strands I'm doing 550 of them but God this shit is tedious. I noticed there is no room for the box which makes it difficult. I'm doing it on a 18 S550 but the results are immaculate, just seeing your work on the Maybach definitely helps out.
I have another technical question bro, did you hard wire it to the rear trunk outlet or you just plugged it in? I'm finally done with the headliner I glued and zip tied everything to be as neat as possible. I'm thinking of hard wiring it to the trunk outlet and run it to the fuse what do you think?
Would a thousand lights not be enough for this kinda car? I just repaired the sunroof rails and blind so the liner is all down already coming to see you soon
@@CorteviosAllen-xm1bj yes 1000 should be more then enough especially if you have sunroof. I can’t do the sunroof area on this. So it’ll only be on the actual headliner.
