Man, u are a genius. I did it on a Mercedes CLS 320 CDI who always ran into 'emergency loop' = 3000 Refs/Min. After your advice it runs again at tops of +5000 refs. Thank you. Wilfried, (Europe, Belgium).
This worked for me!! I had just had a problem with my battery terminal corrosion and then came the transmission issue. It was electronic. This worked like a charm and probably saved me from taking it to the dealership and then charging me $1000 to do it far from my eyesight and letting my car sit in a corner for 1/2 a day. Thank you!
THANK you very much i got scared when my engine light came on and my 2014 E350 was shaking. I used your reset method and now my care back to normal.. Big thanks
@theforgottenorg You're right I did forget to mention which models this works on. It will work on models 2008 and newer; and if this method doesn't work you'll have to push the light dimmer button next to the instrument cluster 3 times quickly with the ignition in the second position and that should bring up that menu if I'm not mistaken.
Thank you! I'm replacing my battery today and needed to know how to reset the ECU. Thanks! I'm learning about my 2002 E430, so I am liking and subbed! Thanks again!
It's 2019 and I just want to say thank you for this. My fuel consumption (2012 C350 coupe) was ridiculously high (15l/100kms). No error codes whatsoever. Now I'm at 10l/100kms. Fucking amazing. Almost changed the MAF sensor etc
Hi it works great I've got a 2002 e240 2.6 auto petrol and it's worked a treat the gear changes are smoother now not as noticeable and the power seems to be more instant than waiting I was very sceptical about this but it did work for me
Thanks a lot. This worked on a W169 Mercedes A-class 2005 model. Probably a chance for it to occure again, but very very helpful for the ones that was on the road with this error and max speed of 50km/t
Yo... I have a 1994 s600 and my cooling fan always stayed on. I read up on things that causes this issue. And the ecu was one of the issues. I followed the guy in this video and it stopped my fan from always coming on. My car say for a week in my cause and when I started it up the cans kicked right on. I did what was told in this video and when I cut my car on the fans didn't kick on. Wow. This really worked for me
What this really does is reset the transmission and calibrate the accelerator pedal. I had nothing to do with the main ECU or brain on the vehicle. If you experience issues with your gas pedal or throttle position. This is a great first step when attempting to troubleshoot a fluctuating idle or funny shifts. This will provide insight to potential issues with the Mass Air Flow and Throttle Position Sensor. It will also help delete existing shift point data from previous drivers on a used vehicle. It resets all shift data to factory defaults. It may have other implications as well but those are its primary functions. THIS DOES NOT RESET THE MAIN ECU!
I need some help - 1996 W210 E230 here. I pulled the plug off the ecu box for inspection - plugged it back in the same - now half the lectrics not working. Car drives, has lights, A/C, but no seats, windows, turn signals etc. what did I do? How to fix it??
So i just got a 2003 c230 and it doesnt want to go past 5mph after I took it on the freeway everyone tells me jts the tps need some help !! Also replaced alternator and fuses
hi guys can anyone help i have a 2007 w203 c230 v6 and i have this code 0746 self adaptation of mixture for enleanment at partial load for right cylinder bank above permissible limit. can anyone what is the problem
I have a 2000 s430 and the power is completely off. no dash lights when I open the door. Something happened when I was trying to close the sunroof. I think it blew a serious fuse. please help

Can’t someone help me? My ML 350 won’t accelerate over 20 mph. At first I thought it was the TPMS system where I made sure that all of the tires were at the prescribed psi. After doing this, the car still won’t accelerate over 20 miles an hour and it stops at the same mark on speedometer please help.
Basically what this is doing is clearing the adaptations learned by the ECU over time, so it can relearn its operation. It's probably a good idea to let the car idle for a while with all accessories off.
What did you mean by “it will run rough” for a while? My E-Class is shifting odd since i did this. Sometimes it takes too long for it to shift. Will this go away?
Thanks bro this did the trick once, but when I tried it again (a few times actually) it didn't work... is it only good for one shot? I am locked out of my trunk, the electric to release my trunk from the car and the remote key fob are not working, compounded by the actually key not working either (I actually got the key to open it up once) been fiddling with it for a bout a week now because my gas cap is not opening either (and need gas)... maybe I need to re-code it? Any suggestions/ideas on my conundrum?
Niko M Driver side..under the hood on fender is 3 wires with studs..hook power up to the and ground on metal or chassis.. If u got power it sounds like ur vacuum pump..gotta pull out back seat
Resetting the ECU" is the process of clearing all the long term memory from the ECU's memory. These variables trim idle speed, fuel, spark, and more. Please change your title because it's misleading and do you really think holding your foot down is going to do what I just wrote? Hell no it isn't. All it does is reset your throttle learning for your transmission. So just letting you know you're not doing anything to your ECU
Could someone help.I own a Mercedes Benz E200 Kompressor 2001 model. One day i drove it for 71km and parked it and few hours after that i wanted to park it in the garage only to find that the fun was still running from the time i parked.I managed to park it in the garage but the following morning,it couldn't start. What could be the problem?
You mean the fan? If the fan is what you are referring to it could be the module that controls your radiator fan. I had one go bad on me, it was an easy fix. You can order the part off ebay, it doesn't cost that much.
should i try this on my 09 M class 550? my fan comes on when i use my AC but it will cut off forcing me to open the windows, it doesnt appear to be any issue with the compressor, blower or resistor but my mechanic had to replace the belts under the hood nonths ago and we both think its the fan that needs to be reset but i was curious if this method may work.
All these people asking idiotic questions. The video DOES NOT reset the ECU, the guy said it wrong. It is a TCU reset for the auto transmission. Nothing to do with fans not working, lights flashing and definitely will not reset bone head drivers IQ.
Hi my radiator fan runs so much faster and very loud as usual recently while the car is on. I have been told there could be a problem with the ECU as everything is fine including sensors. Anyway my question is that will this fix the problem and also does this reset literally everything in the car including radio as I dont know what the code is and do not want to make a mistake. A prompt reply will be very much appreciated. My car is a 2008 C180 Kompressor manual petrol 1.8L
Zeddy A Hi Zaddy, I have the same exact problem as yours. Have you found any solutions? I'm stuck with this crazy fan now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jermaine Reid Hi there. Thanks for your input. It seems you know what you're talking about. My fan goes high speed which I believe it's related to ECU. I performed this video's instructions but didn't resolve the issue. Do you have any suggestion for my case? How can I reset ECU more effectively?
If you drive like grandma on the way to bingo every Thursday, over time the shift changes can occur at very low speeds and generally harsh or clunky shifts. If you reset the transmission and drive it hard, the shifts will be at higher revs. But it takes about 60 miles (100km) for the transmission to 'learn' the new patterns.
Disconnect the positive and negative cables from the battery (while car not running) and touch them together, this should reset the dashboard to get rid of the engine light....this works for Mercedes and BMW’s
Disconnecting both terminals and clipping them together for a few minutes drains the power out of the system. When you reconnect the terminals to the battery the system reboots and the fault codes clear. As a safety precaution turn on the headlights before you reconnect the terminals, this prevents power surging into your rear SAM (another 'brain' they throw in the car) and possibly blowing it.
You should only do it once and you should use a computer. This guy's a f****** kook. I'm a f****** Master mechanic and this is not an ECU reset. All it's doing is resetting the adaptive learning on the transmission. This procedure should be done with a computer after a car has its ECU flashed with a new tune.. also there's codes that have to be saved and then recoded after the ECU flash.. if you're going to do it once but I would never do it on a high-end car the way he is telling people..
S Sport mode. Observe the accelaration of your car. Under S mode you will notice that the gear shifts more aggressive and has higher revolution also your suspension will be stiffer. While on C mode (Comfort) you will notice the gear changes more smoothly at longer interval
You left off several steps. What you did will not reset anything. OFF Foot off brake ON (1 button push) Accelerator down for 10+ seconds Listed for CLICK ACCessory (second button push) for 10+ seconds with accelerator down OFF Foot off accelerator Wait 5 minutes before starting
There is a few things wrong in this... firstly, the windows and doors thing is crap. It makes no difference. Turn on and off whatever you like, it wont affect the reset.
