First of all i must say great work! Its a masterpiece...Well done! could i know where to purchase the front and rear wide body panels from? im from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia? Thank you. keep it up!!!!
This is most likely well beyond 15k in parts and at least 250 or more hours into the labor. Very time consuming to remove the full wiring harness and organizing/labeling/recording where it goes along with the 500 engine swap and wiring for that. Lots of time and patience.
Hey I was wondering where did you get the rear and front wide fenders from as they look they are not fiberglass which is better. I need them for my a124 convertible project. Your car came out amazing!! Any help where to order them I appreciate it and your work is beautiful!! Are your in the US??
You order it from Mercedes Benz, they should be available, buy the front fenders as well, or just safe up the money for a proper 500E, they are rare but worth it.
Hlynur Stefánsson dude can you provide me some contact or link for that. Googling for it but nothing since quite time. I only fiber planes available but they are far from a e500 look.
It´s most likely a special order at a Mercedes Benz dealer, i found one one ebay with some minor damage, but the dealer can supply W124 fenders for sure, no bodyshop recommends aftermarket panels since they never fit or rust fast. You could also pull out the fenders like the AMG bodykit manual guides for E36 conversion, but that is not so obvious as the 500E. There are other ways of making the panels, but i think original is the way to go...and best of all buy a complete 500E, they also handle a little bit better than a regular W124, buy the E420 get 95% of a 500E (same engine, same brakes, same transmission, different differential and different fenders, and rear bench has space for 3), those are much cheaper than the more collectable version.
This work is incredible! For myself though, I would buy a clean W124 sedan (E320 - E430) install a 5.3 Chevrolet LS engine and GM 6l80e six speed auto, wheel flares in fiberglass, paint, monoblock wheels, springs, sway bars, SL600 brakes and put it on the road, emissions legal, and faster and handling better than an E500, for $12,000
