Radio in my W204 Mercedes doesn't work. Just suddenly stop working, I've checked both fuse and even disconnected the battery and still nothing. Any help will be much appreciated.
OK everyone I have w204 2012 Mercedes benz C 300 4 matic sport sedan/luxury sedan goes for both finally figured out what issue was its the interface media module ..code was DO17 MOST ring break in fiber optic loop all modules Radio/ Amplifier/satalite receiver module / and finally (the interface media module went bad replaced that module I got every thingback volume etc ..so that was the issue I want to post to help other out ..you can also by pass that with a jumper fiber optic loop and use that to troubleshoot issue work great good luck everyone who has that issue .

A mean really now, no one wants to be driving their Mercedes Benz with no phone/audio. I did it for about two months and it was no fun 😏. Now with information like this and other's, we now have a much clearer picture of what the problem is.
Thanks buddy I have a 2012 c250 and no volume or reverse camera. I checked the factory settings and in it it said something aboit a ring lol. I understand now.
Easy fix. Just hold the favorite button(star logo) and the Tel/phone button for 10 seconds. Its a soft reset of the system and guaranteed fix of most problems. Your welcome in advance🙏🏽
Same problem with my C280 W204 - Found my Fuse connection in the boot was loose and not connected properly into the fuse slot. - pushed back in and FIXED😊
Check the big fuse in trunk mine was a 50. It was loose. I pushed it in and everything worked. If that don't do it it it could be blown so replace it. Worth a shot. Worked for me.
Hello everyone that issue for me was the MEDIA RECEIVER. You can just by pass it with fiber optic jumpers ..it's under passenger side glove box ..bypass it cause if you replace it the dealer has to reprogram it into CAM system so just by pass ..all sounds will work ..
Same problem with 2010 E350. The year, make, and model doesn't mean much since the audio system is VERY similar (not exact) across many years, makes, and models, and the failures are similar. There are a series of modules in the audio system (radio, satellite, antenna, media interface, amplifier, CD changer, etc.). All are interconnected via fiber optics and, if any one unit fails, the fiber optic path is severed resulting in no sound. When I was initially troubleshooting, I connected an iPhone to the media interface module (the plug in the glovebox) to see if there was sound from that input. But, when I selected "Media Interface" from the audio menu, it said "No Device Connected" even though the phone was plugged in and playing music. Possible culprit identified. I removed the glovebox (online videos are helpful), unplugged the optical cable from the media interface module (it's mounted above and behind the glovebox), plugged a female fiber optic loop (many options available on Amazon; jsut be sure it's female) into the disconnected cable and... voila... music! In my case it was a failed media interface module. You can check other modules the same way. Just unplug the fiber optic cable going into the module you want to test, then plug the fiber optic loop into the disconnected cable. This method won't work for testing the amplifier though because the amp would be disconnected from the system/speakers. Hope this helps someone! I'd recommend using the audio menu and checking the audio inputs first, it might point to the problem area as it did for me.

Hello good people. I read all the comments but did not see my problem. I hope I did not skip a reply by accident. I have C250 2013. The radio comes on. I can select stations and move the volume, including mute the unit. The radio comes on and sound stops after a few minutes. It started a week ago and suddenly stayed on. However a few days later the sound fell away after a fresh start. If I would start multiple time and wait several minutes between each starts it comes on to stop shortly afterwords. Any assistance is appreciated. I purchased the car over one year. It did the same thing after the purchase. However it stayed on later till last week.

Well I've got an older E320 and it's having the same issue somebody said on a video you can do a soft reset by taking out the audio fuse the CD changer fuse and I can't remember what else and another guy said you can disconnect the battery and hold down the brake pedal for about 30 seconds and that would fix it I haven't tried any of those yet, and you might look up hard reset it's got something to do with disconnecting the battery and doing something I can't remember I have to really look that one back up but just a few ideas there I haven't tried yet myself I find one that works I'll post it!
Hey Rick, I did disconnect the battery and also removed 4 different fuses. Let it sit for about a half hour but it didn't work. I didn't hold the brake though, it's the first time I'm hearing about that. Car is now sold... Still, if you find something that works let us know as many ppl seems to be having the same issue.
@@abdomazad6555 no I still haven't figured mine out yet I just know the radio has no sound they do this on purpose to get you to come in to Mercedes-Benz I did hear somebody say if you unplugged the amplifier and plugged it back in and the 6 CD changer but I don't believe that I'm going to try it I'll probably just bypass the factory amp or run speaker wires directly to my radio
What I'm going to do is put a different radio in my Mercedes and I'm not going to mess with their amplifier because they set it up that way on purpose so they can make some big bucks from people I'm just going to put my own amp in and radio just like I was running a brand new system you know all the speaker wires the hotline in the ground and hook it up the amp and all that it's a whole lot easier than trying to figure out what they did on purpose to cause people all this trouble just so they can make money!and it's not just the older Mercedes either it's the newer ones I've seen them on 2013s 2017s and I'm pretty sure 2021 I wouldn't swear to that but I'm pretty sure I seen someone say they had no sound in that either,
Ok everyone with a 2012 c250 mercedes I've had no sound for over 2 months I bought it like that. So I just fixed it. I removed the amp and replaced it and still no sound. I removed the glovebox and located the Interface media module behind the glovebox and unplugged the fibre optic cord and plugged a fibre optic loop onto that cord and boom music so I left it plugged in and it works fine. I will order a new module just to see it replaced but do that and good luck.

I saw your comment and did what you said, ordered the loop which came with male and female connectors and connected one to the optic cord and the other to the module, not sure if that was correct but it didn’t work, I have code D018. Do you think replacing the module will fix it?
@@ecbrixs403 unplug the optic cord from the module and only connect the loop to the optic cord you unplugged from the module. The only thing connected to the module should be its power nothing else.
@@ecbrixs403 ya right you might need to get a amp from ebay and swap them over and see if that fixes it. Just make sure you have same model number and HW number for a easy swap. Or could be the 20 amp yellow fuse behind the head unit attached to the head unit. Or could be water damage on the passanger floor which can carode the plugs down there. I tried all of them before I tried the optic cord loop.
Most likely it the amp in the trunk. The amp of good most of the time. Open it up carefully and you’ll see black debris around the fan. If you can find a new fan then replace it, otherwise just clean it with wd40 and blow it with compressed air and it should be good. Also before opening it just turn on the the radio/cd and go see the amp to see if the fan is running or making noise. If not the amp issue then you will need to get a fiber loop tester and check out each item in the loop to see which item is defective by bypassing it with the fiber loop bypass connector.
I have changed out many of the amps for these... its placed perfectly in a water fall in the trunk... issue usually shows up after a good car wash or rain
No not yet... Someone did mentioned that it could be the amp. Haven't gotten around to looking into that just yet but I will post that update as soon as it's fixed.

@kamilfronczak3930 OK, so as for the radio. Have someone check all the fuses related to the radio. Also have the amp checked as well. Then go from there. As for the camera 📷. I'm not sure. Maybe look for videos that are related to mercedes benz reverse camera issues 🤔 Good luck 👍
Hi This recently happened to me after a big rain storm . Just take the whole radio out and unplug all cables and then just plug them back in . Should start working after that .
@@Vexulus Oh ok, now that's not good 🤥..My issue was the AMP. There are fuses for the speakers but I'm not too sure which because that wasn't my problem. Just do a RU-vid search. I'm sure there's someone with the same issue as you. Good luck 👍
My radio,bt stop working also, wierd thing is that my sat radio I'm getting audio from it not radio, I scan it and I'm getting an error on the amp voltage being too high but I'm getting the same symptoms as you
Hey Richard, no I didn't... I did removed the AMP and checked it out myself then went and have a shop checked it out as well and they said that it's fine. All the function of the radio works, just not getting any sound. I was thinking it's most likely going to be a fuse problem but after rechecking all the fuses and all seems to be ok, I wasn't sure anymore. The good thing for me is that I sold the car 4 days ago and the guy that bought it is shipping it outside the country. I did told him about the radio and he said it wasn't a big deal because the person that the car is going to is a mechanic. Well alrightie then :)... I'm not too sure what the problem is but checked all your fuse first, then have the amp checked out and then go from there. Good luck!
as soon as i opened my door this morning it started making that static noise again from the front and back left and then my radio starting working randomly. i just turned it off to let it rest for a day or two and i’ll check the fuses
This happens to me in Maine USA every winter when the outside temps are below -7 deg C. Last year when it started I did A LOT of research and what I found out is that micro cracks can form in the electrical connection of the circuit boards within the head unit and when it gets cold and the connections "shrink" the microcracks separate and the connection is lost unable it warms up. I haven't figured out a fix but some people were recommending a head unit upgrade (like the android screen). I'm hesitant to do that because I don't know if this actually bypasses the head unit behind the radio or not....if all that makes sense

I have a 2011 E 350 no sound it first started like the screen went black but rdio working now radio works no sound the car is at they cant figer out whats wrong .
First, you should try the normal test to rule them out before you move to the bigger issues. First, check all the fuses. I know with mine it has it under the hood and in the trunk. I believe if I'm not mistaken, there is also fuse at the back of the radio. If all is good, the next step is to look into the AMP.
Good afternoon same thing happened to me on a C300 2009 fuses all good so what I did just unplug the harness from the stereo plugged back in and that’s it sounds in all speakers LinkedIn nothing happenes

@OhKrezy No worries 👍.. What I am trying to say is that the Amp is usually the cause for this problem. But, before you get to the amp, you need to check to make sure that all the fuses are working. You may need to check the owners manual to locate the fuse and Amp location.
Yes, don't know why Mercedes Benz think it would be a great idea to put the amp on the where they did. If it rains or too cold, or any kind of moisture, it doesn't work..
Fortunately for me it was the amplifier,I’m relieved because I have been searching and searching for MONTHS and it’s rare to find real information. What I was informed was the fan on the amplifier stops working and causes the amp to overheat and short out..If for some of you the amplifier doesn’t work I have been told that the wiring can be bent and once it’s bent it’s game over because the fiber optic inside breaks and it needs to be fully replaced which is a very very pricey install
Wow, nice ride you got there. Sorry to hear that. maybe you should have someone checked out the AMP to see if that's the issue or not, then take it from there.

Can anyone help me ive got mercedes benz s class s350 CDI 2010 and when i turn on radio or disk or even voice command dont work it says service unavailable and the changer dont work either can someone please help ? Ive tried to remove the fuse box and put it back still dint work also tried reset all dint work as well
I'm not sure because I don't have the car anymore but you can do a google search on your car and year. Under hood and trunk fuse compartment diagram. I also don't recall which fuse I did remove in the trunk. I believe I did end up removing about 6 different fuse and also disconnected the battery for about on hour and it still didn't work. In my case the AMP was the issue.
I have a w205 2015 had no sound and I eventually found out it was because of the XM radio I called up the company told them to immediately terminate the subscription I had it stopped... the next day everything's been working normal
Damn I have to update this .. lol my fault, the issue is the right side of the trunk. pull off the carpet cover behind the right rear light and you will see the amplifier, water damages the amplifier causing it to malfunction. I unplugged the amplifier sprayed electrical cleaner on the wires plugged it back and it started to work. But I ebd up buying a used amplifier from ebay for 300 and covered up the hole below the amp .. you'll see it I put an old license plate and duct tape to cover the hole .. haven't had a issue since.
I had this same issue for two years which I finally fixed by replacing the Harmon kardon amp. Same exact issue where I get no sound only in cold weather. There is a temporary fix for this that worked for me….reset the system through the hidden engineering menu. This is temporary and you’ll have to do it every time.
I've also had a few people that say after removing the fuse it was able to reset and worked after. I forgot which fuse they were but you can look into that and hopefully it'll fixed the problem or at least narrow it down. Good luck!
I did ended up selling the car before I was able to fixed the problem. Still I was able to have it checked out and the problem is the Amp. I also have someone here in these comments with the same problem and they replaced the Amp and the radio was good to go.
Yes, I think it is for sure... I've pulled all the fuse that some people have said to pull, waited for about an hour before reinstalling them back and still nothing.. Going to have it replace asap because it's no fun driving without music or just even some talking going on in the background away from me being on the phone lol... Thanks much!
If you look on the inside of the trunk on the left side you can see the amplifier serial number. Once you have the number go on eBay and order a new one. I was quoted by the dealership to fix it for 2500.00 I got a new amp for 250 and installed it myself. It was really easy to install too
2014 e63 w212 my radio will come on and off sometimes works for a while sometimes just keeps rebooting itself, really annoying everything else works no warnings
my radio started going out when it was raining very heavy. It turns on but no sound comes out of the speaker just like yours and the other day we had a hurricane it was raining pretty hard and the radio turned back on, but went out again after it dried, I was trying to fiddle with it and get it going myself I’m not sure where the amp is in mine. @@sarah2135 OK, maybe you should check to make sure that there's no moisture in the AMP. That could be the reason for it coming on and off. Mercedes Benz did not install the AMP in a good place and if it's raining or damp this can happen. Mines was in the trunk on the left behind the carpet. The fuse panel was on the right in the same spot. Maybe get someone to have a look at it then go from there.
Sorry to hear that. Mines was the AMP. I've seen where a few people posted that it was a fuse under the hood or trunk. Look into that then take it from there 🙏🙏

Embarrassed to say, this happened in my 2019 GLC63 except my back up camera and some AMG settings disappeared? Radio works but no sound? I’m gonna take it to Dealer and see what they say unless someone on here knows what’s happening??

They are beautiful cars and yes, a lot of fun to drive as well but boy oh boy once you start having problems, it's going to cost top $$$ to fix even the simplest of things. Leasing is the way to go and it helps even more if you have a business that way you'll be able to get back some of the cost.
@@V-TecHondaLove yep, this AMP is weak from poor thermal heatsink contact. Don't push up this Amp too high 'cause the chips can not handle heat even in cold winter. 👍
