Only thing to be careful for is a lotta times removing cats totally on a turbo charged engine could decrease your back pressure and in turn you’ll lose a little bit of snot down low out the hole. Happened to my uncles 650s

Ran W The JB4 or almost all piggy back tuners for that matter are very easy to install even without much know how so I’m sure any local tuner shop would install it.. Just off the top of my head in NY there is Manhattan Motor Car whom will do anything on almost any car.. As for your worry about being a lease and warranty issues, that has to be totally up to yourself because at least in my own experiences with all my past cars and trucks it really depends on 1. The dealership/techs & 2. The problem on which your bringing the car in for. So for instance if you have a good relationship with a dealer and cool technician bringing your car in for routine services you would most likely be fine, but if you ever ran into a major drivetrain issue they most certainly can give you a very hard time about it. Calvin Liang I Don’t believe there is a specific one, I run on map 2 and 3, mostly 2 during the hot humid days and 3 on the nice chilly fall/winter days.

@@HardHatExotics Do you feel the difference between stock and the JB4? Not sure if I want to invest 719 bucks if it doesn't gain much performance.

@@ThomasRSmith-og7zo on Map 1 not so much but map 2 and 3 for sure. If the stock advertised 1/4 mile time of 12.6 is correct I was able to shave a half a second off of that on an upward graded highway and a crap launch.

I do believe that you have to hook up to your OBD port if I’m not mistaken. You could route it through your door jam to make the install of it much easier.

OBDII connection is a Must with the JB4 The Bluetooth dongle is almost a must if you want to have the ease of adjustment via your Phone. Or the $35 dollar cable adjustment via Windows Laptop would work as well but is not very convenient in this case. Otherwise you will be stuck on Map 1 which isn't much of a difference.

@@darionducharme How did you end up installing the OBDII wire? I am thinking of ordering the JB4 but getting the wire through the firewall somewhat scares me. Maybe I should just go with the Racechip which doesn't require an OBDII connection,

@@ThomasRSmith-og7zo No I did not end up installing the OBD because at this moment I’m OK with stage one performance. When I eventually buy the Bluetooth adapter and get that installed with the module, I will then install the OBD connecter. My Mercedes is still under warranty and it’s fast enough for me now

bless idan you have to purchase it separately unfortunately.

$140 for the Bluetooth module and another 30 Dollars for the app on you phone in order to be able to use it.

@@HardHatExotics Are you still Happy after about a year? Any negative effects from the JB4 tuner? Trying to decide to either go with Racechip or the JB4. The poking or drilling through the firewall is what makes me a bit uneasy about the JB4 tuner and the installation of the Bluetooth dongle after having to shed out 140 bucks is turning me off on it. They should have done that from the factory. for people ordering that option. Why wouldn't you.

@@ThomasRSmith-og7zo 100 percent agree about the connect kit extremely stupid. What I can say is going through the firewall is actually much easier than it seems, it’s only a rubber grommet that you slit and fish through also I do know the newer connect kits are much easier to install as well, I believe it’s just a plug and play harness type of connection now.

Shan Kaura I believe there are 8 different Map selections on the app, I’m not sure on the differences from map 4-8 or if they are just slots for your own custom tunes. And there will always be some risk involved with modifying any car but from my own experience so far I haven’t had an issue.

@@HardHatExotics which maps do you use? And do you know why you would use map 1 vs 2 vs 3 or 4 lol? SOrry, I'm just tryign to do all my research

Shan Kaura haha no problem, so map 1 is 4 more pounds of boost over stock on which you can run it on 91 octane, map 2 is 5 lbs over and map 3 is 5.5 lbs over both of which require 93 octane.. I forget exactly what the other map differences are being that I stick with 2-3 normally.

@@HardHatExotics Assuming map 2 can use 91 octane also? If you don't have access to 93 octane, does using 91 octane and map 3 affect performance in any way?

Shan Kaura Map 2 and 3 both are suggested by BMS to be used with 93.. I don’t know if it’s as much as a diminishing performance thing as much it is raising the boost over stock on certain octanes.

Hi - I'm considering buying a Jb4. I found one that is one year old and around a lot cheaper then buying from BMS. Is your JB4 worth it? Any risks that you can find? I can't find much of any

Shan Kaura In my opinion messing around with any vehicles stock software is a bit risky and have had some issues with a couple of my previous cars with other tuner manufacturers.. But with that being said this is the 2nd car I’ve installed a JB4 on, the other was a 2009 335xi and that car ran flawlessly for a long time but eventually started having some issues which I would blame more on age and miles than the tuner.. As far as my C43 I haven’t had any type of issues or quirks so fingers crossed lol.

I am trying to decide between the Racechip which is easier to install or the JB4 which probably will gain more power but is more of a headache to install and more expensive if you get the USB Module and then on top of that have to buy the app which should really come with the USB module.

L-dubwesson map 1 is another 4 pounds of boost over stock and 30 HP, map 2 is 5lbs over stock and 60 hp, I do believe that burger recommends 93 or better, which sucks because I think some states only go up to 91 at the pump..

@@HardHatExotics Are you using 91 for map 2? I have 2017 C43 and am trying to weigh options between the JB4 or an ECU tune. I also only have 91 available in my state.

L-dubwesson Very nice! I’m in New Jersey and we have 93 so I always run on that, we actually had 94 at select stations up until a few years ago which was awesome lol. Well you gotta weigh the pros and cons for each. The JB4 is definitely a great bang for your buck, it’s easy to install, fully reversible and adjustable on the fly, but for sure your going to get more power and a smoother power band out of an ecu tune.

@@HardHatExotics okay I just installed it exactly how I saw on this video. Maybe I have a new version of the jb4 cuz the data connector was plug and Play. Just got back from a test drive and lost about half the power. I don't think it's building any boost. Any ideas? It also through a code.

@@megotvtec mine had 4 pig tails, the rainbow, purple, brown, and the green isn’t used on the C43. If you have those 3 connections hooked up right and the obd whip plugged in under the dash I don’t see why you would be having that issue. Try contacting BMS they’re technical assistant is great.

@@HardHatExotics If you didn't connect your Module to a Bluetooth do you think you would still have issues or would it be set to the number one tune? What's the app called. I haven't connected my device yet

HardHatExotics I didn’t .. they sent me a new one but I haven’t installed it yet .. it was sad to see all the lights on the dashboard go on with a bunch of codes

ITSTHEOPS that was my biggest fear as I went to test start it as well! Thankfully their were none and haven’t had any issues as of yet.

ITSTHEOPS well lol I can say on map 2 I definitely notice a difference, and I’m actually putting together my next video doing some 0-60 runs with a Dragy. The biggest complaint I have with this car is there’s no damn launch control or configurator! Even my brothers S4 has a launch configuration! These C43’s you gotta just break boost and hope you get a good launch!
