The AMR tune and weistec downpipes have finally been installed! This is my reaction, and some drive-bys. I hope you guys enjoy it! Link to the kit: shop.amrperfor...
Great video! I've been trying to figure out what to do with my c400 for months for a bit more sound and a bit more power, without going over the top or spending a lot. Now I know and am actually ordering :)
@@kwabenaananda9577 not sure about performance but a huge difference in the sound! the stock c400 is pretty quiet but the c450 exhaust has a mean growl to it. just listen to the c450 videos. it sounds the same just without the crackles which I added myself by doing an ECU tune. Now it sounds exactly like a c450. I had an aftermarket system before but it droned at highway speed. I know someone who put on a c63 exhaust and it was even louder with no drone. its a lot cheaper than buying an aftermarket exhaust too.
@@garrettproductions1513 did you install the full 450 system or just the mufflers? I’m about to buy just the mufflers today, praying this sounds good :)
@@garrettproductions1513 thanks for the response! I had the mufflers welded on yesterday and there is definitely a sound difference, however it’s very quiet. I am on my way to remove the rear resonator right now. After looking at the 450 and 400 setups they are both 2-1-2 and like you said one resonator only (which is the front/larger one) fingers crossed on this as I do like what I hear but it’s barely noticeable. Almost g37/q50 esque
@@mikesandve2564 i believe the user has the "street tune" its more conservative. 3.1 has the added features and is a bit more aggressive/ powerful. i wanted the best and most powerful after reading reviews i went with 3.1 with the burble tune.and it rips like a bat out of hell in sport +.
@@hg1496 I think I want to do that with my C400. I'm lucky enough I found my C400 with AIRMATIC so the ride and handling changes dramatically IMO when you switch modes. The RV3.1 sounded like an option I wanted. Probably gonna do it as a birthday gift to myself next year 😁
Great videos! If you do anything else, I hope you are able to continue the video blog. I just picked up a C400 and I am really enjoying the power, even though its still stock! Extra HP and/or aftermarket exhaust is very tempting!
Dude, I have the same set up but with 3” piping straight back. Sounds hellafied. Yours is restricted.....free her up. And drive manual individual. You are the sport plus.
It'll sound way better if you get an exhaust done, because there are like 3 mufflers, which is why its so quiet. I currently have a custom exhaust on my C400, Dual 2.5 inch pipe, x-pipe with magnaflow performance mufflers. Now keep in mind, there will be droning when you customize your exhaust unless you keep your stock mufflers. You could get a set of C63s mufflers, if you don't mind spending more on mufflers vs buying an aftermarket exhaust setup, with the mufflers, itll make your car sound loud with minimal drone. This is just an idea, I'm throwing out there, just don't straight pipe it, the drone is unbearable. I found a company out in Houston, Texas, that sells tunes for mercedes, for C400 stage with 120+ hp and like 200+ torque for about $1500, heard they were pretty good since they work on mclarens, lambos, ferraris, mercedes, bmw etc.
You said that you still get 22-23mpg in confort mode on average. Can you check how many mpg do you get on highway cruising at 70 mph next time please? MB claims 29mpg on highway. Comfort mode is as economical as eco mode? Also, I'm wondering how much stronger this car would be with a catback exhaust. If is not that big of a difference I just do the DP's like you did. Do you still have that coupon code by any chance?
Bryan White yeah I’ll check it on mine, although the eco mode is supposed to be even better “eco” with the tune. I’ll give it a try and report back on my way to work
Very in depth great video. I have a E400 same engine as urs in ur C300 I’m thinking about the same downpipe for my car but the only problem is I’m worried about the gas smell with the downpipe is it badly noticeable and would police notice it in a stop
Just bought one 2 weeks ago. Only 2 words to describe it. FUN, GAS. If you're into cars and burbles like me u won't get off sport+ mode, which will get you around 18mpg lol
Quick question for ya, to start off i love your c400 it looks and sounds awesome. I myself have a c300 but just ordered the amr tune. Did the handheld programmer come loaded with the tunes or did you have to send your stock ecu file to them first? Cheers!
you would have to download your factory map send it to them and then they will send you the tune from what I've read and I am also thinking of purchasing the comport
@@Sprout4k yeah I have been in contact with Matt and Chris and they have both been great to deal with, let me know how you like it , I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and get it as well. What kind of car and do you have warranty still? Yeah it does come with 6 preloaded but you still have to send them your stock setup with the comport they send you and within a few hours they send you back the tune plus your stock on case you want to go back
If i added a stage 1 tune with burble and kept stock c400 exhaust would i still hear the burbles on downshifts? I dont want it too loud or machine gun fire sounding. Maybe like the c43 sound or slightly louder than that. What should i do?
How has your experience been with your tires? My c400 had practically new tires and after 7k miles and regular conservative driving, the front tires (continentals) are almost out of thread. I drive on clean roads with few potholes and read somewhere that this could be a factory issue??? Would love some feedback and what others experience has been.
I bought the car CPO in Jan 2017 with 30k miles, I had to replace the tires in Sep 2019 with 50k miles. I was also surprised that they only lasted about 20k miles. It might have to do with the all wheel drive system and the fact that you cant rotate the tires as they are different sizes. I think 7k miles is a problem though, did you get an alignment after you got the tires?
@@mikesandve2564 My car was also a CPO and those continentals were the ones that were on it when I got it. I bought it barely driven at 13k miles, put 7k miles on it and now the tires need to be replaced. Car drives straight as an arrow, so doubt its an alignment thing. Just frustrated if this is going to be a continuous thing. Do you think that this could be argued as a factory issue since i still have the car under warranty and ask them to adjust the alignment perhaps so the tires don't wear so much? Also on a side note, I watched your video about the axels and then listened for it on mine and found it. I wanted to thank you bc after i found out i took it to the dealer and they replaced it under warranty.
@@arsalaanc3752 Welcome to the club my friend. Went through 2 sets of continentals in 40k miles on my c400, alignment was always up to spec. Finally switched to Michelin Pilot Sport a/s 3+ and problems are gone. Had michelins for the past 10k and no noticeable wear what's or ever. Those runflat continentals are just not build to last not only on c400's but any other car that they came with judging by the overwhelming amount of disappointed owners. BTW, had both font axels replaced under warranty as well.
Hey Mike, love your car man, did you ever get the exhaust? If yes do you mind making a video? I’m planning to get a AWE Track Edition and tune the car too.
I feel like whoever gets a C43 or C400 should have enough money for a $2k-$3k tune. If not, then the decision to buy one of these cars in the first place was already a poor one...
Hey dude, how’s it going? Do you still have the car? 2021 update? I have the C400 as well, bought it because my LO was jumping into a forward facing seat and the coupe was too small. Thought about selling it but would of lost too much, so decided to keep it (tune it) definitely a lot more enjoyable now. I’ve installed a jb4, bms dci and c450 mufflers. I’m thinking about dps next. How are those weistecs holding up? I read about them cracking on MBWORLD (I’m sure you read about that as well) Thanks dude
Hey Phil! Sounds like a great project! I haven’t had any issues with the downpipes. I have an update that the check engine light has come on maybe 3 different times but after I turn it off it seems to go away. I haven’t had it in to get the code read yet. Besides that the car is still running great.
@@mikesandve2564 awesome! Good to hear and thanks for the reply. Have you done any heat management at all? Do you experience heat soak? I’m up in Toronto Canada, where all our hwys are literally our biggest free parking lots, lots of heat soak up here. Also, thoughts on the airmatic? I’d like to upgrade steering and suspension if possible. Subframe bushings, control arms, sway bushings. Would like it a little stiffer but down want to swap the airmatic since it’s still functioning correctly
Yes. My sales rep said that if I wanted to tune it early, to remove it before I go for its servicing and they won't notice (no idea how truthful that is though haha).
I really like it, it was definitely worth the money. I find myself putting it in sport plus about 30 to 40% of the time just because I don’t want to wake the neighbors and the shift points are dramatically different, (not from the tune but just in sport plus)
Really nice upgrade! Can I ask you which AMR Tune you got? Can you provide me the link? Did you purchase it and install it by yourself? I really enjoy that crackling sound!
I have a c400 and I deleted the all muffler and resonators and it’s sounds so niceeee buttt I do want to get cat less down pipes soon in about a month or more not sure but it sounds good and I will be getting a stage 2 tune through DME tuning.
Do you still get the smell from the cat delete at this time considering it's been a year? If you get a tune without installing the down pipes, is it possible to still get the burble?
What was whp after tune? Also was this stage 1? I recently bought a c400 and I’m looking to get it close to about 500whp. I’ve read on AMR website that it’ll get you to about 450+ I’m wondering if you can prove those numbers. I wanna get this done but wanna get some info and research done. Anyone in comments feel free to tap on anything helps.
@@mikesandve2564 Any reason you chose this over jb4 tune? You need BMS Cold Air Intake Kit for some nice blowoff... burgertuning.com/products/bms-mb-c63-dual-intakes-filters-and-mounting-hardware
Bummer that $2000+ tune and downpipes only nets you a 4.2 second 0-60. I just have a JB4 (used for $300) and am consistently 4.0 seconds 0-60 in my C400. Any reason why you went with AMR over JB4?
Brett Zammitt no really reason other then I knew the brand. Also my “wet” runs with no equipment, who knows what it really is. I also imagine the faster you go the more strain on the motor. Either way your right, I probably could have gone with a different option for the same gains.
I have a c450 with a stage 2 tune on it and I do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds but when I put these down pipes on it and put these Michelin pilot 4s tires on there I probably can get a better time.
I have a c400 as well and am just worried about reliability have you had any issues with it. Also did the check engine light from removing the cats go away once you tuned it?
The only real issue I had was the axels which was covered by CPO. You can watch Part 1 to see that. The engine light never actually came on bc I did the tune right after the cats were removed.
Hi there, you should do the H exhaust, it will sound better, I have the 2020 C43 and it does have the H after the suit case muffler. Me, I need to get the down pipes..
@@mikesandve2564 I appreciate this type of video. There are plenty of stuff for quick youtube thrills. But as an actual shopper of this car and this exact tune, its informative and appropriately anecdotal
