Well said , it is an awesome upgrade to the c205. However, is it an upgrade from the C213 though? Im not sure about that, it lacks the gorgeous pillarless side profile
@@vepokk7554 I don’t really care for the M176. By the end of the W205 lifecycle the V8 was so muffled from emissions stuff you could barely hear it & turbocharged v8s didn’t sound all that good to begin with plus you had to drop the transmission to change the exhaust or cats. I’d much rather have the i6 at this point.
@@_modisekgosi Highly doubt they'll keep the 4-banger. Huge customer backlash. A V8 return is out of the question for emission reasons, but what Mercedes might do is tweak this engine and maybe electrify it the way they did the current C63. That said, I hope they come up with a better solution for the battery if they go that route.
The round tail pipes are usually put in the 43 and 53 variants of Mercs while the trapezoidal shapes are reserved for the 63 variants. As for the gauge cluster, I fully agree with you. It was modelled from the Mercedes-AMG ONE. When I saw it there, I knew that trouble was coming.
Nice review. Love the car. I wasn't aware there were folks against the exhaust sounds. I love the snap, crackle and pop of my AMG S63. It adds another sensory dimension to the AMG experience.
I absolutely HATE crackles and pops. They are horribly pretentious coming out of any exhaust system other than a full-blown race car or exotic with a track-focused objective. Loud exhausts are fine. Other noises I'd rather not hear, but that's just me.
Fair enough. And one of the benefits of these S-Class AMGs is that you can put them in comfort mode and they are super quiet, which I do a lot. @@jamesaron1967
I have a C63S coupe currently. I’m waiting to see if the CLE63 is a V8. The CLE53 looks cool with the Widebody, except it still competes with 440i. I hope the CLE63 is even wider without fake vents (like the 53) and offers performance numbers that will compete against the ugly M4. Btw to answer your question, round tail pipes are for C43 and CLE53. Only 63’s will have square pipes. And FYI the rear vents on the C63s are not functional from factory. I like the CLE interior except the speedometer digital cluster looking like a stuck on iPad. Yuck.
That’s cost cutting development for you, they want to outperform Porsche in terms of sporty and young appeal, there’s a reason why they build the AMG GT is mainly to outperform a Porsche 911, and a Maybach to outperform a Rolls Royce

I didn't even know there was a CLE, i know CLA and CLS but never CLE! It looks really good and the CL line looks like it gets a special designs different from the regular line
New CLE 53 looks cool, but agree on design aspects of the last AMG C was better. I still think the 2014 AMG C 507 was the last best looking version of the car. That generation Black edition had so much presence.
Love the car! Had the 2016 E300 Coupe and I loved it to death. Now I have the CLS 53AMG and the engine is the best out there. No vibration at all, smooth as butter and it pulls like nothing else.
@@seansiew5629 excuse me but are you a bit backwards? Loud? You don‘t hear nor feel shit of the M256 I‘d even say it‘s more reliable than the B58. It can‘t handle power upgrades well but you‘ve never heard or seen about M256 engines broken down or whatever… Yapper… the m256 is a mild hybrid engineering marvel and they managed to make all this to be fairly reliable. 200‘000km + on many s classes
The only design element I prefer in the C63 is the continuous sharp shoulder line. Mercedes should have kept that or something similar. The discontinuous shoulder line in the CLE 53 makes the door area look too flat, IMO. Nevertheless, the front and especially the rear end is a big improvement. That stance is brutish. I was never a fan of the oval taillights the C-series had. Too weak and feminine. The new taillights are nicer and prefer a higher position. No matter what Mercedes says it's obvious this is a redesigned and enlarged C-series. I am not a fan of multispoke wheels and these are 'multi-ringed' too. Extremely busy design. The CLE 53 wheels are not my style but if I were a buyer I'd be forced to choose them since I like smaller diameters even less. That interior is better looking than anything in its price range. I prefer angled dashes, however, I don't know what it's like driving. When I was young, I had a car with an angled dash and it was very ergonomic. Prefer it that way. I don't care how it looks if it's easier to view the screen. Can't wait to see what the CLE 63 will look like!
When you look at the newest BMW's, you ask yourself - Where the F*** car industry is going? Then you see this Mercedes coupe and you understand, that some car brands still know how to design and create BEAUTIFUL sports cars in this over-saturated world. Amazing job from Mercedes!!! Bravo
Design of BMW is not everyone’s taste but they outsell Mercedes, which there’s a point where BMW has it, not to mention looks is just one part when the quality of the vehicle is not there, it would be just a scrap staple instead of a garage queen
I very much dislike the rear. They could've done a lot better. Aside from the EQS models (which all look terrible imo) I think the rear on this looks like a bloated Infiniti Q60. It's not bad, but the more I look at it, the more I'm convinced they could've produced a sleeker rear end.
Looks aren’t everything when you have a vacuum cleaner engine in it, look at the C63s E performance,gorgeous to look at,but nobody in Europe buys it,only diehard AMG badge enthusiasts and Tesla owners aka the biggest dicks on the road
I have always been a fan and owner of BMW, but with what BMW is doing with its exterior and interior design, cutting down engine choices in the EU, I will definitely switch to Mercedes or Porsche after pre lci x5 I own today.
Mercedes is doing too, especially the current generation S class fails to get the spotlight unlike the 7 series, and also plans of dropping the V8 for Mercedes are closer than expected,G350 and S350 with a 4 cylinder is coming and S63e would be gone after the facelift version as well as S680 Maybach, not to mention the G63 would become PHEV as well
I disagree with you on the aggressive styling. If Audi bmw and any auto maker can do it, then so should Mercedes. That's like saying we're going to give up a market segment sells and profit margins, so we can fit some silly depiction. Absolutely not; Diversify for all-time highs

Calling a current Mercedes vehicle beautiful is a bit of a stretch, Mercedes design has been slowly downgrading since the AMG GT launch to the current blob cars that is the EQ line, this is better, but not much, the current Mercedes coupe designs are very weird and melted cheese.
The new design is beautiful. But all these cars still look the same. I think it would be a good idea if you returned to doing you legendary retro designs. Take classic cars, and give them modern interpretations. You did some of the best ones l have ever scene.

The nowadays Mercedes cars have probably the best exterior design on the market… and also the worst interior design on the market. I will not buy a Mercedes again until they don’t replace the interior designer and go back to the stylish interior design Mercedes are known. Enough of those horrible interior designs which are like a crossbreed between a kitchen and 80-s disco club.

Their F1 cars uses a V6 that outputs waaaay much more power then a v8. V6, V8 or 4 cylinder they can all all beat each other in their own ways. Having more pistons isnt always better so get over it and understand how cars work. V8 is the typical bs every wannabe “carguy” says.
