I have never seen a review that said: "I like the capacitive touch buttons over regular buttons" so at this point I don't know why manufacturers still think those are nice and a good idea.

HUD is a useful thing, if done right. I get everything I need there in my Mazda, and since the infotainment screen is on the same level, and I can operate it with the physical rotary wheel without looking, I almost never need to look down, and take my eyes off the road. Easy to use and safe.

@@piobu5357 Yeah HUD is great especially when done right. I believe every car should have it really, even Tesla Model 3 where there is nothing on your peripheral vision when looking at the road. It will be far more futuristic that Tesla wants than just having single touchscreen on the middle. But still physical buttons and dials should be mandatory. I never thought capacitive touch is really for cars, we don't feel it. Unless they somehow developed really insane haptics that surpasses Apple. Just don't go capacitive, we have enough touchscreen already and even that I would have some physical navigation controls since it is not safe to use touchscreen that has the UI change every context or even every update. Touchscreen works great on phones and tablets because we directly look at it, not when driving.

Mercedes has never made sport cars by itself. Only AMG is transforming mercedes cars into sport alternatives. AMG was purchased by Mercedes, but remained independent, so they can modify as much as they want mercedes cars (in some cases they even redesigned entire engines). Hence, when mercedes designs a car, it is not to race, but for conform and safety.

Alex is talking about the audio in the background, which I missed as I was pausing and then playing and reading, so lost what he was saying. If his scipt was laid out to use the labs data as a reference it would be better - so "Overall I enjoyed the audio in the car, it feels like it lacks a little bass response in more bass heavy tracks and this is backed up by the data from LTT Labs you can see here *insert graph* - a more in depth explanation can be found at the LTT Labs link in the description" Just dumping these data sets in requiring a pause is complete changing how their viewers are having to interact with the video (IMO in a worse way) which I think they still need to work on. Even the editors notes in this video were so quick I had to skip back multiple times - they are funny and I like reading them (especially the bit about hitting a person on the road and being "dumb that you can't do it") but dang do they go quick.

The cup holder in the back wasn't jammed, it was designed that way. The first click is a pen holder then you give it a half click to get the cup holders. Not sure why its like that but it is what it is. Having the lumbar controls in the screen allows you to adjust the lumbar to a more specific spot to help pinpoint specific spots. The MBUX infotainment is very intuitive and easy to use. Yes there are a lot of sub menus but its easy to figure out.

It's actually quite funny how German car reviewers bash on cars from the US like the Mach E, and American channels complain about cars like the iX. But I totally agree with you. Magazines like "Auto Motor Sport" have always been quite biased, especially towards Mercedes. Don't get me wrong, Merc has made a really interesting car, but things like the buttons were not discussed (or only briefly), so it's kinda nice to see someone mention them. Especially the steering wheel buttons. Whos idea was that, that's so stupid.

Well I drove the eqs aswell and also found the brake feel a little weird. But you can actually change the regenerative braking with the "shift pedals" so just using one pedal driving is very usable. Also I missed the sub base but maybe because I am just a 19 year old bass lover. Overall this is a very nice car for S class customers that drive for themself and maybe have a assistant always next to them. Kinda like a youtuber that travels a lot with their cutter/cameraman. It feels like its very well tuned for german roads and autobahn where you can use the great fast charging network of europe. In the US and Canada it's probably pretty lost for this, with a lack of really fast chargers. It's not a car to daily to work rather to travel from city to city

Doesn't mean it's insecure either, but it's not a plus. Security through obscurity won't work for very long once the system becomes more common. There's a reason why open-source stuff is considered to be more secure for most use cases, since it gives so many people a chance to break it that you either find the flaws, or have it proven how secure it is. Me in my 1997 sub compact hatchback, that cost me $1000, regardless of seating position: ah yes there is room for my head in here Alex in a brand new electric Mercedes that costs $123,000 USD sitting in the back: ah yes my head is against the roof and will slam into it if we hit a bump. I want electric vehicles to be available, especially in countries like this one where not owning a car puts you at a severe disadvantage due to lack of public transit, lack of bike paths, frequently long distances between residential and commercial zoning, and lack of sidewalks in high traffic areas. Well ideally I'd like all of those things to be fixed but since that's not gonna happen electric vehicle proliferation becomes important. Before someone like me would ever make that jump though they have to be 1)significantly less expensive 2)run as few things through a computer as humanly possible. I don't need heated seats, massage seats, a giant screen for satnav and stereo, a screen for a gauge cluster, or basically anything else that would reduce failure by not being so "futuristic". Not to be an old man here, but I've got no power steering, a manual transmission, crank windows, fully mechanical door locks, a key that doesn't require a chip to start the car, lights that have to be manually activated, a passable sound system, no ABS brakes, rotor ignition, and good fuel economy (34 city, 42 highway) and I like it.

You really ought to integrate the labs data into the videos more. I've always thought that with your hardware reviews as well, where there's hardly any visual cues, and the link between the script and the graph on screen isn't always obvious. Trying to listen to the host usually just ends up with me not having understood any of the graphs, really. On that point, Gamers Nexus's habit of drawing attention to a specific part of the graph at exactly the moment the host mentions something relevant about it is really great. Also the fact that they stay on screen for more than, like, three seconds, really helps. You guys really tend to underestimate the time people need to assimilate a graph. Especially if they're being distracted by the host talking. Anyway, this Labs stuff brings this to a whole new level. It wasn't understandable at all without pausing for a very long time very often, and even then. There were acronyms I didn't know because I'm just not very knowledgeable about audio. You have to pick one way of doing things: does the video have time to include and properly talk about graphs? If the answer is no, don't try to cram it in along with the scripts. People cannot read and listen to different information as the same time effectively. Make it a long subsection of the video at the end, when only interested people will still be watching, or a companion piece, or something.

I love my V8s and Audi supercharged 3.0T v6 however I'm excited to see what electric counterparts we can have along side ICE for the average non-car guy/gal. I was expecting this to be like every other tech channel's review of electric cars "Ohh big screen. Ohh technology. Ohh this!" but you very critical of options being hidden in infotainment, Mercedes' effort to stop customers working on their own car, and the capacitive buttons and lack of physical controls, especially climate controls. I've tried cars with climate controls in a screen and it doesn't work. Physical controls are just miles better (pun intended). By the way, It says EQS-580 on the back, and if that car is similar in spec to their 50+ deciliter displacement AMG E-Class sedans, that price is less extreme than it seems. An E63 AMG is over $100,000, but the EQS-580 probably has a little less horsepower.
