Mercedes Electronic Steering Lock failing? You can hear it clicking? Use a crowbar to unlock it. 

Is your Mercedes-Benz ESL failing? W204 X204 C207 R172 All of these chassis numbers have an issue with the Electronic Steering Lock failing. In this episode i'm working on a 2010 E550 Cabriolet (C207). I heard the ESL clicking when I insert the key into the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS). This means the motor inside the ESL is trying to unlock the steering wheel so you can drive your Mercedes. It's weak and about to fail permanently. If you hear this clicking from your ESL. You can hit the ESL with a crowbar, hammer, something hard and it will open up the next time you insert your key into the EIS.
If you can get the ESL to unlock, you don't have to remove it from the steering column. Just disconnect the electrical connector and plug in your programmed ESL emulator. You can purchase a programmed ESL emulator from us. The only way to have an ESL programmed to your Mercedes, is to send in your EIS and key to us.
