The actual F1 engines are limited for Reasons of Security. The auto union, whose power can't be discussed, takes advantage only after very much time,on straight road and only because Its engine had no limitations. Don't Forget that there are 85 Years Of difference between the two Cars!!
If you want to make an argument why not mention the bloody elephant in the room instead of taking sht F1 cars have so much downforce that they can’t possibly gop over 400 km/h whereas the auto union was designed only for high end speed
It is a Grand Prix car, compliant to grand prix regulations in 1937. Yes, it has a gigantic supercharged engine in a tiny aluminum hassis with zero safety, and would obviously no longer fulfill F1 regulation, but its still an 80 year old F1 car competeing in a drag race on a comperable footing with a modern one, and thats impressive.
In those days, racing drivers were dying like flies, there were no straight tracks, and in a winding race these cars were terrible for the driver. Almost every race involves at least one death, back then it was "normal" - that cars are races and races are dead bodies. Civilian cars were deliberately 20-30 horsepower per tonne for safety. Today, safety for civilians has deteriorated significantly, but for professional racing drivers, safety has increased significantly. Most people don't want slow, safe cars.
@@arkadiuszweiss Consumer car safety has immesurably improved in the last 40 years. And while yes, early motorracing was deadly, a death per race is nowhere near true. A death per season maybe.
Race tracks were different in the 1930's. Some had banked curves, like AVUS in Berlin. There the streamlined version of the Type C ran an average speed of 284.31 km/h during qualifying for the 1937 race. This record would not be bettered until 1957 at Monza, which had received a new high speed oval by then. For the normal GP season, Auto Union would run the non-streamlined version.
Out of all the comments, only 3 people responded logically: it's a computer generated toy, people's. Nothing more, nothing less. Granted, and obviously, people can do almost anything given the right keyboard or logitech G29 steering wheel in this case. But fake is fake regardless...
Wow, it only took 2km for the old auto union to come around the newer f1 car, and only riiiight at the finish. Id hardly call that humiliation considering the f1 car wouldve gained the lead back with a single 90° turn. I love the older cars, but come on man. This is an apples to pineapples comparison here. While both were used to race in europe for what is essentially the same category of races, they are so vastly different you couldnt even put them in the same room and think of them as competition with one another, let alone on an actual track. One is very classy and probably worth globs of money, whereas the other is extremely fast and can pull some of the craziest amount of lateral g's of any land vehicle ever made, while also being worth globs of money.
if the driver of the auto union decided to be a little more easier on the throttle at the start instead of doing a minute long burnout it would have overtaken the AMG much quicker
@@C-A-L-MIt would still has almost no downforce compared to a F1 car and it would still have awful steering angle, because it's a record car primarily used to attempt a new speed record on the straight. For this reason, the weels are covered to minimize drag. In fact, the Typ C Stromlinienfahrzeug used in the second record attempt got destroyed just because a gust of wind hits the car and kicked it hundreds of meters of track. The driver, Bernd Rosemeyer died immediately. The only other use was at the Internationales Avus Rennen but this circuit has highspeed curves.
Modern F1 : Get to top speed real quick, but, the aero prevent it from reaching 340Km/h. Auto Union Type C : Lack of traction cause if to pick up speed slowly, but, it's all about reducing drag. Top speed : 420 Km/h.
Huh. That sent me through an unexpected and interesting trip thru history I didn’t know about. Especially coming from an alt-right domestic terrorist cisgender heteronormative colonizing memefrog who perpetuates harmful stereotypes using racist dogwhistles and Russian bots.
If the guy in that old car knew how to start without nearly crashing, he would have caught the modern car way earlier. The modern car ran way too much downforce, though.
If Bernd Rosemeyer would have steared the Auto Union C, he wouldn't have waste so much time at the Start. It seems that the Driver underestimated the raw Power if this Car. No anti-slipping, no modern ABS Breaks. Rosemeyer reached a Top speed of 429,491 km/h or 266,560 miles per hour. That was a slightely modified Typ from Auto Union, instead Typ C it was Typ R= Record. Many think we have better Cars then back in the 1930, we haven't. Those Cars were absolutely Badass and it needed a certain kind of Man to handle them...
There are so many levels of bullshit in this video it's hard to list all of them. The Auto Union would have flown into the air at that jump for example. And an F1 car would run without wings and easily provide 350-360 KPH, while providing more grip, easily outclassing the Auto Union simply because it could take those turns. Shall I go on?
