100% worked for my c250 it felt really slow and even went to the dealership to get a quote on the fix they said about 900-1000 went on RU-vid and saved over 900$ thank you for this video
I think they may have misinterpreted what you were asking for, no way they would have charged you $1000 to do what's in this video. They could have thought you wanted the transmission adaption that they do (not sure exactly what they call it), it's kind of like a tune for the transmission. They change the clamping pressures of the clutches etc which is a lot more involved. I got it done to my A45 for free by Mecedes when the transmission was getting a fault fixed under warranty and it made a huge difference to how quick / snappy the transmission felt.
@@LongJohnnn They told him 1000 to look at his car and crack his windshield in the process so that he could come back for 2300 new windshield and then fix his problem 😂
Omg I had to come back to find this video!! I noticed my car was driving slower, more "sluggish". I even told this new Mercedes mechanic (I recently moved to a new city) who asked if I had my spark plugs changed. Replying yes, they asked if it helped & we both said not really. They said nothing else afterwards. I bet they know of this trick and was going to charge me a ton. I did these steps some days ago but this morning while driving to work I felt it! It worked!! My baby is back! 🤗 THANK YOU!
My glc 2018 had so bad acceleration and dynamic that I booked service at Dealer after this reset car got back speed, acceleration, dynamic so THANK You for that tip 👏 ❤
Significatively changed the behavior of my 2nd hand A250 (W177/2019 / 49'000km) Thank you very much !!!!!! The first 3 gears were very brutal and now they are smooth like butter and the braking too 😋👍 I can feel the difference in the reactivity as well 😁
Thanks so much for this , was about to have our engine pulled apart because our Mercedes was soooooo slow . Mechanic couldn’t find anything. Followed this video and she is off and racing again 😆
@@swiift2k538 The main problem to look out for is the transmissions output shaft with the pre facelift models (2015 and earlier). You will hear a crunch when putting the car in reverse on a cold start. Had it happen to my car, thank god it was under warranty at the time because it wasn't cheap to fix. Otherwise the car is pretty reliable. If you plan on tuning it though, expect to have to replace the turbo at some point. If you are just talking about this reset only, yes it works and you should probably do it every month to keep the transmission feeling snappy. If you want to make it even better take it to mercedes or a tuner for reconfigeration which makes the transmission feel like it should have from factory, it completely transformed my car.
Hi, so basically the steps are: 1. Turn key to 2nd on position (cluster lights turn on) 2. Hold down gas pedal for at least 10 secs 3. Turn key to off position (cluster lights turn off) 4. Hold down gas pedal for additional 10 secs at least. 5. Let go of gas pedal. 6. Wait 2 mins. 7. Start car and drive round for 15-20 mins so the adaptive gearbox can relearn the way I drive. Is this correct?
There is no nowhere written this works. I believe it is just a hoax. Widely spread. Nowhere in STAR/WIS is this mentioned. Prove me wrong, change my mind:)
DUUUUUUDE!!!!!! this just fixed my ISSUE!!! (W166 ML350 2013 Bluetec) TOP MAN!!! been losing my mind on this... done TWO gearbox oil and filter changes in a space of 1 MONTH and still no results... as like you said the transmission kept the previous 40 gear changes (which were ALLL jerky and BAD changes... vicious cycle of changes without a proper reset) and so my rpms were always out of sync with what the NEW fluids and serviced transmission defaults should be... and THIS literally did the job... GREAT video man! I was literally in the mindset of scrapping the car if I couldn't fix this.
Perhaps there’s one more step after #5.. you have to switch it on again for few seconds and turn off for 2 minutes…then you can start and drive around..
@@DE-sz2mj I've done this multiple times since this thread... and I found that it either works best (or a placebo effect lol), after the 2 x 10 second waits... turn off ignition... take key out let all lights go off, then put ley back in turn on... wait 2-3 mins and THEN drive... don't turn car off until you feel you have gone through at least 40 gear changes via driving calmly = no rapid acceleration or harsh breaking... let the gears work their way through UP and DOWN easily without harshness = allowing car to downshift itself as you approach stops/traffic lights.
I think the concept of adaptive transmissions is pretty cool. I had no idea such a thing existed and discovered it by accident. I think I'm gonna try doing this with mine later today and see if a reset works. I've got a 2002 C320 with 97,000 kms so I expect I should be getting a nice ride out of it.
Just want to said thank you so much for the video you don’t realise how much you have helped me I bought the car a couple of weeks ago so cheap I think the guy thought it was a big problem because it was so slow I followed your video now my car absolutely flies happy days 👍
Will want to try this. I have had one or two occasions when I want to drive that my a200d 2017 is very slow and stays in 1st gear, when I stop to put in park, switch off and wait 10 seconds then it shifts normal. Could this perhaps also fix that issue?
Can you tell me more wich problems you had with the transmission? I have also a Cla 220 and in traffic the car doesn’t change good anymore, and I can’t change to sport modus or manual. When I arrived home next day it’s good again. Is this one of the symptoms?
I’m going to try this out! I’ve also noticed that as I accelerate around 25-35 on a slow steady speed I hear a winding noise for a brief moment and then it goes away. Any clue what that might be?
Bro, do mercedes learn driving style?? I mean if some old person driving the car will it react same way and change driving style if car obsessed that young person is driving the car.. Please reply..
Went to Halfords and they said I need a new TCM. Will the reset work for s 2018 e220d. It sometimes goes into manual and then reverts to auto and refuses to go into manual. Any help would be really appreciated
Thanks for the video. If the system learns the last 40 gear shifts, wouldn't it learn your new way of driving by overwriting it without needing to resetting it? It may take longer, but wouldn't it work like that?
I think it learns your first ever 40 gear shifts and that style sticks till you do this reset. So the 40gear shifts your car currently learnt is probably from the first time it was every driven
Thank you for the vedio I watched it and it was helpful. However, I have another problem and I'm wondering if you came across it before. Basically on my 2013 B Class deisel auto, every time I select drive the gear jumps to park. I'd be greatful if you could share your experience. Many thanks
Nice video! Thank you! :) Most of the time i use my W176 (A200) in ECO mode in the city and Comfort mode in the highways. After the restart, when should i change between the modes to relearn both ?
Granted, I have not gone through all the comments to see if this was answered, but: What about an AMG GTC as that's a very different engine and transmission?
@@drivelife.channel ok I’m going to try it right now. I will come back and give and update. My 2017 is driving sluggish. Crazy right for a Mercedes? 🤷🏼♂️ I wonder if Germany have the same problem. Do I need to remove start stop button ?
At the end when he says turn the ignition off but keep your foot on the accelerator then he says we're going to turn the vehicle completely off and then back on like wait what wasn't it already off I'm so confused
Works for about 3 minutes then reverts back. Sluggish issue started after I took the vehicle to Mercedes for a system update. Was driving fine before that.
@@drivelife.channel thanks for the reply, and yup its just wend im up to the hills, wend its down it change it normal... could maybe be thats low on trans oil?! 🤔
Can this system get messed up if the battery is bad? I.e. my benz has check engine light "terminal 87 low voltage" code. Master mechanic friend told me change battery and reset/reprogram pcm? He says the battery affects multiple systems and will cause pcm issues. Any insight, anyone?
@@-d.b.m.1962 hey brothers quick question I have the same problem man, like it’s a very bad lag like if I’m at a red light and I take a foot off the gas to drive there is a very big lag. You did this reset and it worked ?
It dosent turn off the adaptive it resets it, then for the next 15mins after the reset it relearns, pretty sure only way to turn off is through scn coding
I have yet to try my cla 250 2014 67k miles just did this and it’s telling me “transmission malfunction please visit mechanic” and “don’t shift paddles”
