Awesome and patient, diligent work. Thank you for showing us what it takes to take these out. I own a v167 GLE 300D (350) and was looking for videos showing how to take the rear seat arm rest. Not that its broken but mine has the electric rear seats similar to the GLS (mine is a 5 seater though). But strangely the wireless charging pad does not seem to work. So was trying to see if there are any DIY videos on them and I bumped into yours. Stayed all the way through your video though. Its not easy to film, narrate and work all at the same time so take a bow sir for putting this video out. ❤ cheers
Ooo man I can feel your frustration as I needed to help a friend with his Rear Electrical Headrests on a W221 S Class and ooo man this car kicked my ass literally! Had to disassemble half of the freaking car to even get to those! Yes these big jobs are not easy for sure! I just love taking challenges 😁! Thanks for your support! 🤞💪👍
Excellent video with all the details for disassembly of the dashboard. Did you find any difference (design, quality, etc) of the new evaporator case and/or core in comparison with the original one? a lot of these 2020-21 GLE's are having problems with the evaporator, it should be a quality issue from Mercedes. I wonder if it's been resolved with the new parts. Is it possible to get the evaporator core only and replace it using the original plastic case? Thanks
The plastic case is not the problem my friend. For some reason the original evaporator from the factory has issues and they start leaking but I could not find out why it started leaking! It must be bad parts from whoever the manufacturer is and then being shipped to Mercedes defective! I have never seen this shit before honestly and not with that low mileage... Mercedes sells the whole box with the new Evaporator so that's what you end changing instead of transferring parts. To answer your question - I couldn't see whether the parts are better or not... Thanks for your support and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍
I never disconnected it because believe or not to get to the main battery you have to disassemble half of the car under the driver's seat just to get to this battery! Not to mention that there's a hybrid battery too... So I never bothered disconnecting them because technically you shouldn't be able to mess up anything because simply everything that has to be disassembled is plug and play... Of course you would need to be very careful and precise and you should be fine... The crazy thing was that after assembling everything I ran a scanner and I didn't have codes in the computers but did have to initialize the flaps in the ac system which is a must in order to make sure everything would work in normal order! Thanks for your questions and support! Good Luck! 🤞💪👍
Yeah I agree it was a big job. I took it as a challenge because I couldn't find any information to help me... I managed to do it and the customer is happy as the car has been running perfect ever since. Thanks for the support anyway! 👍
Actually to replace your heater core you don't need to disassemble the dashboard. You can find the heater core from the driver's side under the dash on the right side of the gas pedal. For some reason Mercedes made it easy to replace because it slides into the AC Housing from where the gas pedal is. If you look at my video you will see where it is and then you can remove the carpet in your car and find where the pipes are and where it slides in. I found out this when I was doing this job... Thanks and Good Luck 🤞👍
Thanks for the video. My 2022 GLE53 is with my dealer now who is trying to charge me more than 6 hours of labour to clean up some coffee spilt in the cup holder. Your entire video lasted about half hour. If I add another half an hour to install it back and double it again, it would be 2 hours max. Am I right?
Well, you are pocking like many of us the Never Ending Why Stealerships Charge So Much Damn Fucking Money Topic for something that can be done for 3 times faster instead of robbing us of our money and creating a bad name for themselves?! Does that spilt coffee affect your car in any way? The Stealerships charge Labor Hours for repairs based on what Mercedes in this case tells them from their computers. Unfortunately I don't have access to that system to confirm whether they are overcharging you or not in relation to their books. Nevertheless this is the situation and this situation will never change because they have accepted that this is how they can make money and as long as there are people willing to pay them that asked money they'll always be in business! You do understand that you are going to get in a fight with your Service Advisor if you show him this video! There's a reason why Dealerships kick me out because I expose their shit in 2 seconds! I can walk in any Brand Dealership and make them weak ass fuckers cry because they think they are the shit... It's actually the opposite - if you decide to inspect and be curious to what they repaired and how they repaired your vehicle - you will realize that these Dealerships create shit! Only shit and rarely any good comes of them places! Biggest problem is that regular people don't know anything about this situation and trust them with their nice cars and then pour their bank accounts for services Not Needed and Overcharged all the time! Like I said this topic is a very very touchy one... Don't forget that Stealerships gotta make money too so these videos like mine destroy their money making machine and they are not going to be Happy about it... You will hurt somebody's feeling gotta warn you now... I can't tell you what you need to do unfortunately my friend... All I do is give you the knowledge - It's up to you what you do with it! Maybe you can negotiate the price with your Service Advisor. Maybe you can hire someone else at another place. Maybe you can try and do it yourself... At least you have choices here... Well Let me know how it goes after you have the Boxing match with your Service Advisor! 😁 Would love to hear this story... Thanks and Good Luck 👍🤞
I’m working on one of them right now that also need an evaporator 2020 mercedes gle 350. Pepboys told me they going to pay me 9 hours to replace it I told them to tell the customer to take it to the dealership. 9 hours for all that work is not worth doing.
@projectathos Love your videos, nice and detailed 👍🏼 By the way, do you have any ideas where the actuators/blend doors for the lower/foot area vents are located in the dash? I'm not getting any area from my driver's side foot vent 🤦🏻♂️ I've got a 20 GLE580. I hope it's not somewhere deep inside the dash, that would be a nightmare! Anyways thanks for your videos!
You need to scan the HVAC computer/module with a computer or scanner that can read your Mercedes and see what codes you have. If an actuator is bad you should have codes which one it is and then you can research more to see where it is. Most of the time these are replaceable by reaching under the dash in different spots. Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍
What's your actual situation or problem? I did not see any computers in the dashboard so I would assume they are somewhere else. Especially since these cars communicate via optic cables. I can try to see if I can some more information though... Anyway what's your situation you are trying to resolve?
If you are asking How many Labor Hours when you charge a Customer I would say something like 15 to 20 Hours... Otherwise it took me about 3 days to disassemble and assemble this job. Thanks👍
Im working on a 2020 mercedes gle 350 that also needs an evaporator. Pepboys told me they going to pay me 9 hours to do it. I told them to tell the customer to take it to the dealership 9 hours for all of that work.
