In this video I show you how I fixed the rear reversing camera on my 2011 Mercedes ML300 which has had an intermittent fault for a few months, where sometimes the reverse camera has lines through it and at other times it is completely black. This video will also apply to ML320, ML350 and the GL series wagons.

This was great, you saved me. My 2016 GLE camera was doing the same thing and I thought I would have to take it to the shop. I tapped it like you did and now it's been working fine.

2020 Smart Cabrio. Mercedes built, but it looks like the media system is a pretty common system also found on other brands. Anyway, the rear cam stopped working (black screen, not even the lines) after a software update which, however fixed the GPS. The connector looked clean. Solution did not work, but I also had the whole vehicle menu missing in the media system so I wasn't surprised because I was already thinking that the computer was responsible. This menu has got rear camera settings. So I started pulling, checking and putting back all the fuses. I did not find any faulty fuse, but the deep reset which occurred at some point did the trick.

Any time you have to disconnect and reconnect an automotive electrical connection you should use an electrical contact cleaner and dielectric grease.

@@dodok961 Hi Mate, after nearly two years mine has started intermittently playing up again and a quick thump (in the right spot) solves the problem for me again! Soon, I will do a detailed video of how to take rear trim off and I will remove the defective connector completely and hard wire my camera so I never have this problem again! I will video the whole process (in detail), so subscribe to the channel, hit that bell notification button and watch out for the video (coming soon I promise ... remember I have a proper day job)!! @@DrewFixIt it worked the tap, so happy it was that painless. Ya merc is not up to scratch like it used to be. If i tell you what went wrong with that frkn expensive car you would fall over.. from back seats tearing open to front window loose .. i can just go on...🤦🏻‍♀️

Same problem on my r class but tapping it nor replacing camera head did not work.

@@DrewFixIt i checked it as you did, plugged in and out, but honestly i do not know what to look for in terms of functionality. I did read on forums it may be a software update issue as mine is black screen 100% of the time.
