Thank you for your informative video demonstration. Here I beg your permission to add a little information that it is the TDC (Top Dead Centre). Thanks again.
i have some problems with my M111.961 engine. after i changed the chain tensioner, i did not do it correctly. so the wheel has sliped and the engine goes not stabile. how do i adjust the camshaft without dismount the chain itself ? thank you for your quick respons
Thank you so much for this video! I think my timing chain may be worn on my SLK230. Right now, I'm at 120k and the car is very slow/ sluggish. I'm also getting pretty low fuel economy and can hear a rattling/ tapping noise coming from inside the engine. Was replacing the chain a very difficult repair? Would you recommend it to others? I Would like to do it myself if possible. Thanks again for the video and the information!
Not a difficult job if you have mechanical skills. Ask a friend for help and remember to take lots of pictures in the process. You will need those when putting it back together.
+sevy mihnev Thanks so much for the advice! One more question for you, if you don't mind. Did you replace the cam and crank sprockets and rails as well as the chain? Or did you only replace the chain? Thanks!
It is always best to change everything, but it all depends on the condition of the parts in question. It is safe to assume that if the chain has stretched the other parts are probably worn as well if never changed before.
За двигател М111.944 валовете/веригата се заключва на около 27-28 градуса. Това добре ли е при положение, че веригата е нова, комплект. Или просто е разтегната, т.е. не е сменена.
Instead of paint games you can put bolts of 4 to 5 cm length and 6 mm diameter in the holes by turning the wheel. That's the official way.....and after an click you can read the Timing on the scale ;-) Inlet 20 to 30°, outlet 25 to 35° after the 1st piston is on top (OT) of the scale....
Hello, I need HELP. I followed the video. Although I have the timing looking good at TDC when I turn to 20 degree the pins do not go into the holes Only at about 30 degree. The engine starts and runs rough. This is the second time I have pulled apart and checked it looks RT and it ran before I did the head gasket. What am I missing? Why would the holes not line correctly if I have the chain marks perfectly where they were? Thanks Jake
