@@Cars_and_Tractors Ah, okay...usually those W124 are quite stable. I wonder how the Sportline-Versions compare to the standard suspension. Maybe even more stable, but in the other hand the comfort may be ruined..?
@@wp8022 I've never had the opportunity to test a sportline suspension. But like you say, a stiffer suspension might ruin the cruising experience for which the W124 is known.. :-)
I bought last year W124 250D manual 1988 from Germany, Ühlingen-Birkendorf. It was drived only 256 778km. Last owner before me had owned the car from begin of 02/1990. W124 is legendary and it runs forever! When I was kid, my mom had 1992-1999 W124 250D automatic, 1985. Current car brings very muc memories. In 2010 & 2011 I had also W124 300D, two cars. First was 1985 automatic and second 1987 manual :)
Hi, very nice car! I'm 16 and I'm found of Mercedes cars. I also have one of them, A124 96'. Thats a perfect car, but I am looking for something daily. I will make a driving licence next year, so I want to buy a w124 with diesel. How many km it takes to heat up the engine to normal temperature when there is something like few C degrees or colder?
i watched the first minute. you shift down at the Zebrastreifen and then you keep the RPM at 2000. not below. why, does this car vibrate? our W124 E220 vibrated at 1800 in 5th gear and at 1500in 4th gear and at 1250 in3rd gear. it was the DRIVETRAIN, not the engine. is this here also?
@@Cars_and_Tractors thank you very much for the reply. do you have rpm in your memory, where the vibration would occur? a 6cylinder has 6 ignitions per two crankshat rotations. a 4cylinder only 4. so i wanted to know at which rpm you can drive this, when it is ok
@@Cars_and_Tractors i really agree to you.w123 was more stilish and refined but w124 is known to be just as bulletproof as w123 plus it has a much better handling and ride quality.i had a yellow w123 240d 72 hp automatic.it was very slow but i really enjoyed riding it.it was taken by rust unfortunately but to be honest i am still drawn to w123/w124 they have a charm only few can understand.
Unfortunately the new Mercedes vehicles are unreliable and not as well built. The W124 is my favorite Mercedes and it’s one of the most reliable ones built. Diesel or Petrol the W124 was flawless.
I say keep use it then later if the engine becomes obsolete or no spare part etc. then preserve this vehicle by doing conversion into full electric drive...by that time I expect EV technology & support ting infrastructure to be much more established to finally make it worthwhile to change from diesel to electric ?!
