Hey fupabox, unrelated comment here: You may or may not recall about a year ago I asked you for help with bleeding the cooling system on my W210. I cant find the video so let me just write this here. My problems were slow warm up, never reaching full temp, and temp going down with heater on. I told you I already replaced the T stat. I assumed it was a bleeding issue. I took your advice, and no luck. Even bought a vacuum bleeder. The issue was never fixed until a couple of weeks ago. Come this winter I wanted to fix it, so I took the new thermostat off and found that it was defective! The damn thing was not cast properly so it would never seal when it was supposed to be closed. It was the sole cause of my issues and changing it fixed them and now the car warms up better than ever. I just wanted to thank you again for your help and also wanted to give you an update as to how the issue was resolved. Have you ever heard of this happening? And yes, genuine MB thermostat, matching part numbers.
+Sammy Noueilaty It has happened to me as well.. 2 water pumps in 1 week ,, both brand new, both failed.. It does happen unfortunately ( it was a jeep cherokee , dealer parts as well...They gave me a free set of tires for my trouble , door also fell off when the hinge pins snapped on a 2 year old vehicle, so they were feeling pretty guilty ). Glad to hear you got it resolved
Great video! I'm going to pull down the headliner, for that I'll need to remove the overhead console, supplementar lights, handles etc... Finally I'll need to disconnect the wiring which goes to the overhead console from the rear SAM, do you recomend disconnecting the battery?
Just the neg cable would be a good idea with all the loose lights and stuff ..just for good measure. If you unhook the battery just be sure the key isn't in the ignition when you disconnect or reconnect the battery
Hi there, do you happen to know what's the purpose of the black circle that's attached to the rear view mirror portion? Im planning to install a dashcam and I figured thats a good place to pull some power but i cant seem to find any videos of people removing the rear view camera that has the black circle, so im just wary if i should use the same wiggle and pull method that ive seen. Thanks ahead!
Mine is actually a CLK W209 (Year 2004) but i believe it shares most of the same internals as your car. It looks identical to one in the video except i dont have a sunroof so that button is not there. But I do have the black circle attached to the roof plate of the rear view mirror
Ah ok ... on your w209 the interior temp sensor is mounted to the mirror base ..it is still needed for the hvac to work properly.. I agree it would be a good spot to mount a dash cam
Hey dude, sorry this isn't a question about the w203/w209. Anywho i read your comment on your page about asking you a question on a video comment. I am looking for a r129 SL500, may i ask you how is owner ship? i am a good youtube-mech but at the same time money will be tight here and there, i'm asking as in reliability, service, the drive. and aftermarket parts i'd like to get away with the air-ride and go another route so ill be looking at after market parts.
+Edin Jasarevic I never had a real problem with mine, {I just sold it last month to help fund another investment property) the older SLs are very reliable if they have been well maintained, and not abused. I would recommend one to anyone as long as they have a bit of ability to do most of the routine service themselves. the 300 and 320 sl are even less expensive to maintain and repair because the engines were used in so many other Mercedes models.
Edin Jasarevic The ride always amazed people. (Me included ) that a 25 year old car with skinny little 30 series tires could ride so well. Aftermarket parts are available for almost everything except interior parts. Interiors are the most expensive to repair if parts are needed, but the dealerships can get any tiny part in any original color,,some are even reasonably priced. Aftermarket suspension and engine /drive train parts are all available at no more than the cost of most other cars
