“Well, I won’t turn down your money.” Alvor remembered he gave the Dragonborn everything he had after Helgen and said “you’re finally gonna repay me? Sweet”
All my goodness the old lady from the motar and pestle is so sweet and so wholesome When she said your parents must be really proud of you my eyes swelled up a little bit with tears
Thats the dialogue all old women in the game have when they like the dragonborn, and old men have another equally wholesome line of dialogue "Good to see skyrim still has such fine people around, you give an old man hope"
@@Duc359 Came to the comments looking for someone that appreciated that line aswell. Almost cried. Didn't even know I needed to hear that, even if it was from a NPC in a game.
"Ah the sound of clicking coins. Even better , the sound of clicking coins in my hand." I agree. The feeling of having money in your hand is pretty awesome.
@@SMDTURBO It's a very old game and has its fair share of bugs and flaws. I wouldn't recommend it if you expect similar quality to that of Read Dead 2 or most open worlds actually.
@@justhutt272 He also said to me when I asked him something: "Are you thicc?" Nobody in Skyrim ever said such nice words to me. I'm a scrawny argonian male btw.
@@mrmoosetachioThey could actually make some pretty coin if they distribute those to other merchants. They probably trade all the stuff players sell them with each other.
@@jonquilgemstone true. But considering how any of those I've flooded the market with across the entire region.... Pretty sure market value should have been affected by the excess supply at some point lol
@@sorrowdusk5068 True! After all your investing in a business not his family... but at least he's truthful about how he views things... family first business second but your money is still used further his business... sorry weird way of wording it
@@sorrowdusk5068 yeah and there's another one who's honest as well! He mentions how he doesn't promise a big return or whatever... should be the guy joking about selling his sister.. Sorry my minds fuzzy from being tired and trying to get a cute and fuzzy bat out of my house... let's just say I lost sight of it.... I have no idea where it's at... and this has been going on from 2am to 7am 😓
@@harvestingseason2725 😆 yes. Speech is easy in this game compare to real life. Especially when there are literally things that can be taken without being stolen items and resold... Plus there is the Black Market perk in a Black book. If only it is this easy in real life... Goes to show that our real world economic system is broken, unequal and utter trash.
The problem is this game doesn't have any real working economy, and unless you have the proper mods for this, food sleep and water are all worthless, and taxes don't exist unless you have the mod and other such systems that would make money a little bit more of a struggle. Unfortunately you can only get these things from mods, because Bethesda didn't really think from this perspective for the player. So at the end of the day, the player has a lot of money from pillaging Dungeons and selling gear, and this investing perk, isn't really investing so much as it is charity that doesn't exactly have a real return investment outside of giving that vendor slightly more cash on hand. The economy in Skyrim needs more depth. And that can only be achieved through mods at the moment.
I started playing Skyrim for the first time last year, yes I know I missed a lot. But seeing people who have played since the beginning learning new things is one of the best indicators of a well fleshed out game. I'm gonna play right now
I found a dungeon the other day. Not only had I never discovered it before, it had a different type of puzzle structure that I really appreciated. I also installed a mod that makes all locations already "discovered"... Sure it's cheating but after so many, many years of playing the game... I want to see all the places I missed! And there's a lot of them for sure.
You haven't missed a lot. I played Skyrim for 9 years and just knew that the first mission in main quest line is the siege of whiterun as a stormcloak. I dont know what happens if I sided with the Imps.
Speechcraft skill is honestly OP. Wanna be an independent thief and not join the guild to sell stuff, speechcraft. Need to bribe the guards in white run to kill naziem because you already used your one free crime action punching Braith or murdering heimskr after become Thane? Speechcraft. Want to threaten people into submission when speaking to them, speechcraft.
@@RaccoonRecluse Free crime action? "I'm with the Thieves Guild" I don't actually know if you can bribe your way out of assault by being part of the Guild, I only get caught for failing to pickpocket back the 2000+ gold I just gave to Balimund to increase my forging skill lmao
@@somerandomgamer8504 Being a thane of a hold gives you one "free crime action". I killed the Emperor and a Solitude Guard stopped me. Told him I was a Thane and he let me off.
I normally put 3 perks into it to reach Merchant. Being able to buy and sell everything at every vendor is just too convenient. Plus, when NPCs spawn with spellbooks and enchanted jewelry they'll sell them to you; admittedly they primarily exist for Pickpocket gameplay.
Sure, +500 gold isn’t much for trading, but the real utility of investing lies with the “Fence” perk. It’s so nice to be able to sell your stolen goods without having to trek through multiple loading screens to one of only a half-dozen merchants.
@@laface2361 Bruh. I've also been playing Skyrim recently and found out there's like 2 or 3 MORE people you can fence with but I forgot who they are. 😬 You can also download a mod that adds civil war refugees and refugee camps outside of Solitude and Whiterun with a chance of spawning a "Shady Individual" that you can fence with as well. I forgot the name though...
@@zombifiedpariah7392 After you do a special job in a city, the client will also fence for you; at least, the one in Markarth did. I don't remember about the other cities...
The perk to do this comes on the Speech skill tree after the perk that makes all merchants 'general stores' so you can sell off heavy stuff to first merchant you come across, as long as they got the coin.
You just described the behavior of an sjw or a feminist. They spend all day long looking for things that they get offended about and complain about it talk about buzzkill.
Honestly, the people that liked Skyrim is definitely a silent majority. It is the diehard Morrowind and Oblivion fans that constantly have a bone to pick with Skyrim, and they are honestly annoying. Like that video that indigo gaming made a few years ago. A whole bunch of dick sucking towards Daggerfall and just lobbed all kinds of criticisms on Skyrim. He literally said that Skyrim's success is solely due to the popularity of Morrowind and Oblivion. Another criticism is that Skyrim has bad graphics. Like fucking what? It had to come out on the 360 and PS3, and I don't remember anyone saying that the graphics were bad back in 2011, but as soon as it aged, people began to compare it to Witcher 3 (2015 game) instead of the 2011 Witcher 2 that came out in the same year as Skyrim Edit: A lot of Morrowind fans are very elitest.
@Impaleification That's because Bethesda sucks at making RPGs, i like Skyrim exactly because it lacks so much. Many of us see it as a sandbox to build the game you want on (with mods), and i understand that's not for everyone. When i wrote this, i meant it to the people who highly criticize it for no reason. People saying like "it didn't deserve the fame/hype" etc. If you want a good RPG, i recommend Witcher or Dragon's Dogma.
Ah yes, the "I've played Skyrim forever and there's literally nothing here!" argument. Wait until they find out you're essentially a *_godling_* who can bend minds, slow time, turn invulnerable (and run forever/fall from any height), cause fear, disarm people, command animals, attack at a ridiculous speed, summon ancient heroes, summon 2 different dragons, blast people away by force or with tornadoes, breathe ice to freeze your enemies if not simply damage them, breathe fire, buff themself out with "Dragon Aspect", drain life, weaken your enemy's armor and lifeforce, raise the fallen, speed dash, and call down thunder *_all over the place_* only to yell "Lok vah koor!" as _yet another ability_ later and make the weather sunny and nice to boot, lmfao. The dovahkiin stomps. 💪
Once I get all the houses and learn every enchant, all the money I make might as well just be sitting in a corner somewhere. The speech skill is nice to level for the speech checks that pop up now and again, but the perks are pretty useless imo.
Also just wanted to say how much I appreciate these videos. They may not seem like much, but as someone who plays a certain way every time I play Skyrim, it’s really cool to hear all the stuff I miss. What a great game. Thanks for all the effort and time you put into all these. Keep up the good work :)
this happend once i was in a winterhold inn when a child said she found something that it will be useful for me she gave me the coins so sweet aww 👍😊😊👍👍
I literally always invest in Alvor the first chance I get. It's the least I could do after I left the man with only the clothes on his back the first time I met him
I think that Belethor and Saul Goodman would probably get along great. Need to launder some money? Talk to Belethor. Need to handle that complaint Ysolda had about the new bedding and drapes she brought from the general store? Um...better call Saul!
Yeah they didn't make this mechanic very well in my opinion. I had to supplement through mods that actually made Investments worthwhile. I'm talking about purchasing houses and shops Farms mines and depending on how much you want back on your investment you could set the rent from low to high, and depending on which one you choose makes the NPC treat you differently, if the price is too high they actually might attack you if the price is too low they will treat you very well but you'll get less in your return, however it's still passive income. So is still much more worth then this stupid perk in vanilla Skyrim.
what is more important is that Skyrim is 10 years old and people are still discovering stuff for each time they replay it, probably one of the top 10 games of the decade, Red dead redemption 2 is up there in my book too
I mis-read the title as “merchants react to players INVENTORY” and I thought that actually sounded hilarious - you’re talking to people about buying stuff and they’re like “DUDE YOU HAVE 40 MILLION soul dust? WTF is this?”
I'm so glad you had Alvor. Every playthrough I have, the maniac gets himself killed by a dragon. He dies sooner and sooner and I'm convinced my next playthrough, he'll already be dead.
0:01 Belethor: I'd even buy one of your relatives, if you're looking to sell. Dunmer: Really? Belethor: Ha ha ha ha. That's a little joke. Dunmer: *Angry house Dres noises*
It would’ve been cool if there was a possibility to lose your investment. Then you could persuade or intimidate them to return your coin or they could give you a radiant fetch quest for an item for them to sell to recover losses.
What would be great is if you could actually get a return on your investment. Unfortunately this perk doesn't do what it suggests. All that does is adds more pocket change for the store owner to have on hand next time you sell a bunch of crap to them.
"Because the only games that can be relevant decades in are Mario & Sonic, or something DnD related. Damn the game that has 100K+ in counting mods from thousands of authors in counting itching to make it better and better, with countless submitted screenshots & artwork let alone the lore to back it all." Right, lol.
Yea… pretty easy when it’s so modable… will be released 4 different times when November comes around… and was in an era when internet gaming was getting more popular and millennials were getting out of high school and becoming adults (the generation with the most “gamers” in it).
There have been speculations in the past that he's secretly a slaver. Just to how he always brings up selling people in a discussion I'm inclined to agree.
This perk is useless, however if you get the mod ordinator perks for Skyrim, this also affects your speech when it comes to your shouts, so it actually makes the perk tree much more worthwhile other than just bribing and making money by getting better deals from NPCs. The investment perk is still useless though. But another mod can make that useful, if you want a useful mod for Investments, you got to get the real estate mod. It will allow you to make passive income.
1:32 Never fails to be amusing, this one, lolz 2:48 Sounds like something a member of the *_Thieves' Guild_* would say... This is only a few of the merchants one can invest in; doesn't include Tonilia of the Thieves' Guild or any of the DLC.
Huh, in fallout 3, in a specific location you can invest in a caravan (or multiple), the caravans have their "trope/main stock" from weapons, apparals, meds, and junk (trust me the junk part is far more useful than you think.) However merchants in fallout 3 are the "I will buy and sell anything and everything" sort of merchants with a few exceptions.
