Very cool, the spectrum of mercury is beautiful. I remember i used to ionize those mercury tilt switches used for arduino to get that exact same color as if it was a discharge tube.

I’ve got a proper camera that I used for the photos at the end which works with no flicker but the video quality is crap sadly. Also yes cv3710, was going to say in the video but forgot lol
Wonder how much uv light it spits, or if glass is uv resistant... Paint some phosphour from a florescent tube and see if it glows If it does start glowing then you got a diode and tanning lamp combo
