I like these strategy videos Joe. I'm an outsider (within the network) but I sure feel honored to be here. While I was never a "professional" tech (other than being a helicopter mechanic and test pilot in the Army) I continue to enjoy working on my own vehicles. You guys have taught me so much and I appreciate every one of you.

1st thing.. great mention of Mr Morton, we all know how much he emphasizes using tests to get us down to the "appropriate funnel". He pushes us technicians HARD to work smart... 2... Personalmente, I'd love to see that electric steering install. I've never heard or seen one done, as in modify an older vehicle which wasn't built that way. .. so you have my vote! Lol Stay safe hombre! 😊🤗🤗

I love the thought process on the CAN system I have a 4425 pico scope and in the last 2 years I have been doing more communication network troubleshooting so I get enthusiastic when I see the variables dealing with these systems and how to think outside the box and not rely on flow charts, because you know those charts will more than likely have you replacing a module . The one thing that aggregates me about Mitchell information system is they rarely show you were the terminating resistors are and those "extra" connectors are at. I also have an 88 Fiero that I would be interested in adding electric power steering, being as these cars did not come with power steering, so your video would be interesting.

Bro, I have a 07 Mountaineer and suddenly started having elec problems similar to what you show in this vid. 1st off, I’m an idiot when it comes to auto electrical problems. I mean I have a harbor freight volt meter and an amp hound… I build furniture for a living and I have no business with my nose into my electrical system… However I’ve been battling cancer for two years and have not been able to work so I am top Ramen noodles twice a day broke and just doing the best I can and trying to survive. I just wanted to express my appreciation for what you do and your videos. I have no idea if what I learned today in your vid will help me fix my mountaineer. I sure hope so because I love the truck and other than my Harley Davidson Softail, it’s what Ive got, So I’m gonna go out there and probably make the problem worse, but what can I say…gotta try., ya know. If you’re ever down in South Texas, look me up. I’ll buy you a beer/or an iced tea… thanks man. Fo Real. Thanks…

Back when I was still a tech I had a Saturn Ion that a customer brought in. They had it at another garage for NY inspection and it would not communicate with DMV computer at all. I checked with a Tech 2 and no communication could be established. After getting the respective repair manuals out, ultimately I found one of the CAN wires had been cut directly behind the ALDL connector, fixed that and good to go. I have no idea why someone would have cut it though. They had cut it, stripped the insulation off each end, twisted the wires together then wrapped electrical tape around it. Talk about backyard Willie repair at it's finest.

Hi!! I recently bought a 04 mercury mountaineer. This car has something going on with the electrical and it turns the headlights, instrument cluster , radio, and power windows on and off as it pleases , including when the car is off. When installed a kill switch and now the battery doesn’t drain and the issues do not happen when the car is off now but it does when it’s being driven.

Joe your videos are superb. I don’t care about your video skills but your knowledge and explanations are the very best. Your approach is excellent. Thanks for the CAN info. Nobody ever mentioned or I don’t think that there are 2 terminating resistors in each network. Thanks. Is there a way of say getting factory wiring schematics for an individual vehicle? Probably not but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Will be researching CAN networks and will probably have questions. Thanks for sharing Artie you and wife stay well. 👍❤️ Joe please film the mustang. I still have my 1968 Mustang Chiltons manual. From my 68 mustang when manuals were very good. 👍👍👍
