If half the ship wasn't useless, I'd love it

It has to have manned turrets as the inspiration for this ship was the Millenium Falcon. This is also why the ship is fast, has a single ramp entry, hidden cargo compartments, a chess board, and a parabolic antenna on the top.

MSR was the first ship that made me want to buy SC, but since I'm from Brazil and the ship costs a monthly salary here, its just too much money to spend on a game, I spent a month doing side hustles to get enough to buy my spirit C1, I play solo and it does everything I need, once the game releases at some point in the next millennium I can get the MSR in game

I used to have the MSR. Overall, I like the ship, from its speed to its looks. But the one thing that really kills it for me is the fact that it can't take a hit. Both the hull and shield hp is far too low for a ship of its size, and supposed to hold up to the most dangerous race in the verse.

This is my favorite ship idc what anyone says. The Red BIS paint just hits different.

I tried it when it was a sub ship of the month. I liked it a lot, great daily driver for solo players with really nice cargo space. But gawd dayum getting to the actual cockpit was ugly. Rework should elevate it even more. Thanks for the review Ninjas 😄 Looking forward to more of them!

The MSR is awesome however it was the first ship made fir Crusader. Therefore, it already needs a rework.

I CCU'd my MSR for the 400i as my mid-size daily driver... but if and when the MSR gets it's minor rework and has that addition entrance the devs said they forgot to put in (coming into the corridor behind the cockpit) I might get the MSR again on buyback. I like the idea of Data Running and I like the idea of Exploration, so either the 400i and MSR were always going to be main ship. Can't go wrong with either imo, so long as you are using it correctly.

Are your max. crew stats based on beds? 1 x pilot, 1 x co-pilot, 2 x gunners, 1 x engineer (scanning etc.). That puts the effective crew at 5. 2 is the bare minimum. It does carry nostalgia like the Melenium Falcon. Your solutions to the changes are very much on par with what I think along the lines of improvements. One of the original internal layouts was awesome and far more practical. The MSR was my second in-game purchase, and I have loved it ever since. Lost it in the 3.18 patch, but I got it immediately after that. I agree fully with your 8/10 rating. With some minor, but needed updates, this could easily hold a solid 10/10. Keep up the good work.

MSR is gorgeous in its best-in-show paint. CIG has supposedly already said they intend to fix the second exit oversight, but of course that's not happening anytime soon(tm). Love the speed and versatility. It's a fun ship to fly.

Upgraded my MSR to an Arrastia, being able to mine and refine is just too great a temptation. I agree about an 8 on the MSR and here is one story to back it up. Back when gold was a hot commodity and there were only 2 places to find it, I took my MSR to MicroTech SMO-18, I think. I knew this was a hot zone for pirates too. So, I went in and found I could buy a full load of gold. Back in the ship I figured I would fly low for a bit to gain speed and then head up thinking, gain speed and maybe stay off radar of higher-flying ships. I was wrong as I had a missile lock, followed by a missile inbound. I release flares and pulled back on the stick and pointed the ship up 70 degrees to head to space. A second missile launched, and the enemy contact was announced. More flares were dropped, and I hit boost. I moved all shields to the rear face as the enemy closed and opened up. I changed power settings to shields. the ship's hull started taking damage with one of the main thrusters going red. Right as I hit the atmospheres edge, I realized the quantum drive was off. I started the spooling. by this time the enemy was starting to fall behind and I was out of his gun range, so he fired missiles. Before they hit, I was able to jump away with no shields left. While in the jump I got a message from my attacker, "Damn that is a fast ship". "Be where your enemy is not" -Sun Tzu

And here I thought that facebook was only for boomers and X for Elmos. But the whole giveaway is just running with that. :D

Even with low shields and HP, you can get away from any threat easily. I've never had a problem running from danger. I was using this ship originally to transport the ROC for mining. Now, I mine with the Prospector on Crusader's moons, and I take that to the refinery at Ambitious Dream Station (ADS). The MSR safely and quickly transports the refined materials back to Olisar for sale. Then I run it back to ADS, store it, and repeat my mining process. The storage is substantial on the MSR, so I can do several runs with the Prospector before filling up the MSR. It's a great gameplay loop, where I can do a bunch of mining, and only need to go to Olisar on occasion. The MSR is perfect for this, substantial storage, and quick transport. I've had people try to attack me when I was running the ROC, and I just leave them in the dust. I guess my only concern now is being attacked in the Prospector, which is slow and has low HP.

everyone complains about the doors but im not that bothered by them now, i do think the tunnels could have been removed to slim the ship down and the turrets should retract when not being used.

I give it a 9 or 10. Yes, it needs those upgrades. But it _will_ be getting a lot of those. And at that point I would expect the price to go up significantly. So if you are thinking you are definitely going to want it with those changes, then you definitely need to buy it now. Currently there is a CCU upgrade for it, so you'll at least want to get that.

This is one of my favorite ships in game. It sucks that there is no data running yet but it's perfect for early - mid game. I typically use it to carry ROCs or Furies. You mentioned the turrets but I prefer the manned turrets, it's basically like a co-pilot seat instead of just being able to target, you can scan and keep an eye on ship systems. I wish they would do a rework to add a front elevator and remove some doors. Hopefully we will see data running soon and get a rework.

Not a fan of the MSR after having to get in and out and wish the rafter below were just a second floor. Glad people enjoy the ship and another banger ship video!

Msr is such a cool ship but it's so annoying running through so many doors to get to the cockpit. still fly it all the time tho haha

I definetly considered pledging this when it was on sale recently i just wish it had larger shields for defense.

The Mercury Star Runner is a gorgeous good looking ship, with weak weapons, weak hull, tons of doors, a useless elevator, but I love it. I melted mine, but I hope one day CIG gives more attention to her, then I will buy it back.

Still my daily driver. Can't wait until the rest of it works.

I use to love the MSR until they nerfed how it flies in Atmo. It such a slug in atmo. I hope they fix this.

I can see the sub-deck being the place where all of the engineering nodes will be located. At least I'm hoping.

I want to love it, I just can’t. Right now it’s an A to B ship and it can’t even do that well because it takes so long to get in and out of the thing

i like it because it is always going to be balanced on the fast if not fastest in its size class. It fails in guns and hp but that is purely balance to have the speed.

The MSR is my go too ship for ROC mining. It can easily hold 2x ROCs ( a spare for when the mining arm on the first one inevitably stops working ) and has the 2nd best scanners in the game for detecting those Hadanite deposits ( Valkyrie having the best @+$115 more...). It is also much more manoeuvrable than any other ships in its class for that nape of the Earth flying needed to quickly and safely cover ground looking for those deposits.

I know it has no use yet really, but I love its design

Great lookin daily driver, but like you and other comments said it has some issues. If these problems are fixed i can see myself using this ship as daily.

a slimmer profile (dumping out the unnecessary space) woud make it more nimble

I have this sip and want to love it so bad. It's fast and handles good for it's size but it has too much wasted space and it takes too long to get in our out of the ship. I always look at flying this then choose my Freelancer MAX

The concept art is cool, but the whole ship could use a do-over. I don't understand why its faster than C1 with its dinky thrusters on the back and being bulky. I would give a 6.5/10. It is fun to fly though.

If they gave this ship more guns, you'd have to lose the speed. Everything has to be balanced. The reason the Corsair is a slowpoke is BECAUSE it has unimaginable firepower. But for a game balance, you cannot have speed, guns, and armor. It's either speed and weak, or punch but slow. Otherwise you create a clear meta.

This should meet the needs of a smuggler's choice of weapon. Outside of its speed, it falls short in every other department for me. As much as I wanted to like it, I'll have to pass it by.

Man I love this ship and was expecting something slightly different.. I mean it is a spy ship. It’s a data hacking surveillance machine. Just doesn’t feel like it fits the sneaky role yet.

Until data running is a thing .... There are just better ships to use. It takes way too long to get to the cockpit and lacks fire power . It flies fine but you can just do better.

The ship is certainly a fun RP ship, but I definitely would use other ships for money making.

Personally, I'd give this ship 6/10 at most. It has _so_ many issues 😞 Visually, those two small engine clusters don't give enough impression of a speedy ship, unlike the Hercules (or the Millennium Falcon). As we can see, MSR _used_ to have a big engine in the middle, but it got removed and the size of the other engine exhausts was not altered to compensate for that. And those engine clusters appear to be located _above_ ships' center of gravity, which in real life would make it spin downwards each time those engines are turned on. Continuing with visuals, the MSR is too fat, because of that added crawlspace - which, when you think about it, appears to be completely and utterly useless, both in- and out-of-universe. It _almost_ looks like a single-player gimmick, to allow player to sneak up upon unsuspecting npcs. And why is the smuggling cargo grid so small? There's literally an empty space right next to it, which means it could've been _easily_ been extended by two SCU, or possibly even five, if CIG would allow the three layers of boxes. The placement of the server racks is also extremely puzzling, _especially_ considering all the wasted space in the scanner room. Just move one set of racks there, and put the second one behind some door. This is such an obvious solution that I'm honestly baffled as to why it wasn't designed that way in the first place. And of course, the omission of the second entrance is just... perplexing. So, yeah. (And turrets are manned because (as others have already pointed out) the Millennium Falcon has manned turrets. Millennium Falcon didn't have a single point of entry, though.)

While I had it I loved the design but melted it to something better more functional.

You got it so so wrong. The MSR is a Large ship. It is bigger than 2 Connies wide or almost the width of the Corsair wings deployed while just as long. The MSR might not be classified as a Large Ship by CIG, but she is in game a Large ship.

In the lore this ship actually won a non UEE sanctioned borderline illegal race that racers could shoot one another and that had natural dangers on the route. So yeah it can be a system racer.

They just need to balance this ship.

I really dont understand the complaint that everyone has about the smuggling area. Its more about hiding from the npc's and once the game is more finalized new players wont necessarily know about it because they didnt follow the game like all of us alpha backers and testers.

i had one but i melted it cause it dont have 120 or more scu and its clunky ive the c1 for small and fast

This ship is too expensive for my taste. If you need a data runner, that is about the only justification I have in my head for this ship. For anything else, the price is just too high or oversized. If I need the speed, I rather just use the C1 Spirit. Other than that, for the same price, the Connie Andromeda or Drake Corsair are better fits.
