Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan all came to the South and failed.. but SPB made it in the north. Kishore song SPB can sing, but Kishore would never have made it to sing many of SPB songs. Being himself a genious, he never compared himself with other great artists. He always respected other artists like Lata, Rafi, Kishor, PB Srinivas etc. SPB was a GEM !!!

Even great Kishore Kumar asked music director to record female version..by. Lata mangeshkar first. He listened to this song , sung by Lata many times and by hearted it....and later recorded his version..kishore gave a ultimate song
kishor Kumar sir has 25 takes to record this number. even for sir kishor, it would have been extreemly difficult to render this number in a consert. this is the reason why, neither latha mam or kishor sir never sang this in any of their conserts. one has to at least appriciate SPB for attempting to present this number to us in 2019 at the age of 73.

Kishore is incomparable. No one can dream of singing like kishore da. The feel, expressions, voice quality is ultimate. No one can think of kishore singing quality for minimum 7 births.
Some songs are meant for exclusively for some singers. This is that kind of a song. With utmost respect to SPB ji I can say that there is huge difference in the level of singing between Kishore Da and SPB ji.

U cannot compare Hindi Bollywood singer with regional singer. Regional singers are hving limits. Hindi singers like rafi, kishore, mukesh, lata and asha are incomparable undoubtedly. Spb is great singer no doubt, but comfortable with local languages.

Just listen, it is not easy to sing in languages like Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam which are classical languages and Hindi comes nowhere near them. South singers like SPB and KJ Yesudas are far more trained in classical music. And to remind you, they are well trained in Karnatic music which is far more superior to Hindusthani music. So do not simply deride without kniwing well about these singers. KJ Yesudas and SPB have sung many songs in Hindi and show me one bollywood singer who can sing in classical south indian languages. Remember languages like Telugu and Tamil malayalam are given classical status because of their richness. Hindi is neither classical nor national. Read the constitution. No language is recognised as national languages. There 18 languages mentioned in constitution which are equally recognised alogwith Hindi. Stop your arrogance.

Besides many awards, he was awarded prestigious Padma Vibhushan award for his contribution to playback singing and music. And some idiots are deriding him out of sheer arrogance. He is an icon of great singing. He sang in 16 languages and some think he is nowhere near Kishore Kumar. What a pity!!

My God! Even at the age of 73, SP Balasubrahmanyam sang this difficult song well. What a voice! Yes he is struggling but at this age, it isn't surprising but on the contrary it is amazing he is still able attempt this song! His younger self sang this song superbly! He has been criticized by some people because of his southern accent. I view such people as petty, narrow minded and discriminating! That attitude/opinion is no different from the racial discrimination any Indian experiences in the west! Nobody is perfect in acing the accent of every language. The Americans laugh at the British accent while the west laughs at our English accent! Is all this warranted? No! Every one of us should appreciate people who do speak our mother tongue and embrace the diversity such people bring. If you're not able to do that someday you will also face discrimination in some form! That's Karma. What goes around comes around! This is one of the toughest eternal songs of Kishore Kumar. Genius in KishoreDa had made this song surge miles ahead even against a legendary female singer who sang the very same song in her style beautifully. Nobody dares to sing KishoreDa's version. If at all, should it be as a tribute to him out of reverence? I felt SPB's voice lacked the depth to pursue this song. His voice also not joining in shruthi in many places had made the matters worse. Still, we should be able to appreciate the efforts he had put in.

I was lucky enough to watch SP live on several stages. Once In sydney, he sang a medley of songs. Songs of Rafi, Kishore, Hemant Kumar, ghandasala etc. I must admit, their songs were much more melodious in SP’s voice. He is a true Gandharva that’s why he was called so early in life. RIP SPB.
One of the Best all time hit compositions of Panchamda which has both female and male versions in the film "Mehbooba". When Panchamda asked Kishoreda to sing the song for recording, Kishoreda said "Lataji first ".. Later only after having a rehersal of the song at home, Kishoreda came prepared for final recording in Studio. Such a devotion has made the nostalgic melody immortal.
