Merida Cosplay Part I - Gown

I used the Butterick pattern B4827 for the gown, with some minor alterations. Oh my goodness, she is COMPLETED! So this is the video for the gown portion. I talked too much that I had to split the video into two separate videos, so go check out the other one after this one!
I had a blast making this dress, it took me several several hours and days. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to this so I was super excited to finally finish it the way I wanted.

It was kind of fun making costume but the problem is, I’m always got stunk by the needle (pin) all the time

love the video. I do have an idea for the back if you wanted the corseted look but not the hassle on a future project. what you could do is make the back a "faux corset" and put in a hidden zipper on the side seam. that way you have the ease of a zipper to put it on and off but the look of a corset.

It's hard to explain except it's like a little stuffed sock around my arm. But it is stuffed to give it that fullness. like little pillows.

It's so beautiful:). I started mine in...august? It's December and I'm still working on it lol. Quick question, where did you get your wig? I've looked everywhere and all the wigs seem so sketchy.. i don't wanna end up with a gaudy wig lol.

Fritz Otaku Tips- Blind Hem! -Use steel boning for the corset (if you are making a corset) -Don't skimp on the detail -Watch your bias draping, 1920s dresses were cut on a bias so they would drape better on the body. -If you do cut on bias, let the dress hang for a day to let gravity stretch it before you hem it. If not, your hem will bubble. -Sharpen your knives! -Change your needles per the weight of fabric you use. 70/11 for light fabrics 100/13 for heavy ones. :)
