I was back stage security in the late 80s ,a woman walked up to the rope I was keeping people back and Merl was sitting on the stage coach fixing to go out to do the show when he shouts at this lady asking her to ride with him,I ask her if she knew him (which was obvious) and she said yeah I was married to him.The cute young blonde sitting next to him was his future wife and his ex wife Miss Bonnie was singing in the show.I got my parents in free and later got his autograph,R.I.P. sir

I think Leona Williams was a beautiful lady and her and Merle did some great music together. She wrote a lot of great songs and many great one's for Merle.
Merle first heard her sing backup for Loretta Lynn he thought she had one of the best voices he ever heard so he hired her.I think she had one of the best voice in country music and she is still going strong and touring.
