I can't and won't listen to new country today. If you've lived your life listening to REAL country like i have you just can't!! Hes still my favorite and i still sing his songs at karaoke every Saturday night. "Sing me back home " is my all time favorite Hag song. My wife and I saw merle at least a dozen times .the first being in 1970 and the last was in Sept of the year before he died. His voice changed over the years but it was always great.i honestly believe he was at his best in the 80s and 90s when his voice had matured and he was singing what he wanted to sing and not just what was popular.rip hag you were the best and you are missed by millions of true country fans

There won't be any one who can even compare to this man as he's been the best country musician and performer in my lifetime. I was born in 56 and told at a young age that I'd appreciate this music when I get older. It didn't take long. With this mans help. The last concert I attended was in Santa Barbara county bowl in the early 80s. May he RIP.

Merle's parting of this World sure has most certainly made a massive hole in not just the entertainment World but in almost every day conversations. The missing of him on the Country Social Stage seem to.have knocked it all about. People just aren't the same today no matter where you go. Even Country shows have dwindled to next to nothin' now. In this Performance as I watch him do his great hits now it was almost as if he was tellin' ev'ry one it's not far from the end for him. I will always be playin' his tracks as if he's still here.

He was such a cool cucumber when he knew he was ON and knew exactly how important it was for his fans to see him this way. Now, I know he had moments that he battled with insecurity, paranoia, and some other things that almost all of us humans fall victim to. My sincere hope is that at the end of his life, he had a moment of clarity and finally allowed himself to recognize just how great and how important he was! Peace to his memory. His music and the love/respect of music that he had and passed on to others, will live forever!

Merle was a man who truly understood what life was like in reality. The man was a very gifted songwriter and down to earth talented musician!

There is no greater Star! Merle is the one who inspired me to sing professionally. My daddy listened to nothing but Merle Haggard from 1962 to 2004, and when he heard me sing for the very first time in my life, He put Merle down and listened only to me. this meant everything to me... to know my dad would give up his Idol for his son... I think my sister summed it all up in a single statement... "O.M.G... This is my brother? " I feel honored to have a Merle Haggard upbringing.

I got to have my Hag fix every few days or I do not feel good...his songs and playing them in bands around westren Canada when I was a young man are a huge part of my life. I met my wife and formed a happy life together all because she was a great Hag fan and she herd me singing a Hag song. We still have a 3× 4 foot picture of the Hag in our living room...to remind us of Merle and to temind us of our start in life together over 20 years ago.
