Prefer Ottey over Jones, but I don't think she was in sub-10.83 form on that day. I think even silver would have been tough, but a bronze 100%.

@@RKRKRK78 Agreed. She would've lost to Jones at WC's if she didn't false start. She was not in the form she needed to be. The 200m was hers and she pretty much gave that away.

Pending a hearing of the same year it was determined she was not at fault and it was the Laboratory in Lausanne that was ultimately responsible for the contamination of her sample. Merlene Ottey was reinstated in July 2000 - one year after the positive test.

Steroids reduce the longevity of the athlete. How can she be on steroids looking so genuine and feminine for a 20 year pro career spanning 6 Olympics ? My Friend was her physio she just takes real good care of her self in eating and everything to stay healthy. Steroids burn your Candle at both ends

Ottey was clean...you see oversize muscles on her? No...Jones n maybe Devers but not Ottey...she wouldn't have lasted 25 yrs n so durable n consistent on the circuit otherwise!
