Okay 1.) the fact that Merlin is just lounging around like he owns the place 2.) The dry acceptance Uther has that Merlin is just lounging in Arthur’s room 3.) he pushed him into the floor with a boop 4.) Uther finds it mighty suspicious that Merlin isn’t by Arthur’s side
I love how not only was Merlin caught being useless and sleeping on the job by the king of all people but that he just dryly accepted it. Like this is a regular thing and the thing out of the ordinary is that he isn't with arthur
@@granville7 lol I see you pretty much on all the Merlin videos 😂 and you always have somthing cool about the show or somthing against the producers or writers and I'm finding it really funny 😂😂and your names Ygraine which is pretty cool. But probably true tho XD
@Dewy Ianto-Hoslett iconic? what was iconic? Merlin lying to the king? the deleted scene is less funny than what we actually watched in the ep.; just consider this: Merlin is asleep but awakes just in time before Uther did anything to him. then Uther tipped him over anyway. why not do it while he is asleep but [the king] tipping the poor sod over isn't actually that funny, is it? Merlin, the servant actually sitting in a fine chair feels funnier. he wakes up, sees the king but doesn't immediately stand to attention. Uther's dialogue is poor too. he says _I can see that_ twice in this short scene. and Merlin doesn't even get punished for this obvious lie.
@@idreeskhan8885 I’ve always loved Anthony Head, so it’s hard not to let that spill over sometimes. I think if another actor had played Uther I would have hated him more.
I love how during Season 1, Ep 9 Uther told Merlin how he was glad that he was Arthur's servant, and thanked him for being so loyal to him. And then in Season 2 he thanked Merlin for being a trusted ally in the fight against magic! lol, and yet here we are.... :)
what? Uther's patience with Merlin is bordering on magnanimity. he catches him sleeping on the job while _sitting_ on a fine palace chair (not his place) and then he obviously first feigns ignorance concerning Arthur's whereabouts before proceeding to flatly lie to the king. if Uther wouldn't make allowances for Arthur's fondness towards Merlin and acknowledging Merlin being useful from time to time then the stocks would be the least Merlin could expect.
Arthur is the person Merlin has been saving for years. So he has right on everything Arthur has. It is my belief, so and I don't care if anybody else doesn't agree with me.
@@bharati1872 yes, but don't you forget something? nobody [but Gaius] knows Merlin is saving Arthur's butt on a regular basis. you don't see Merlin sitting on a palace chair when Arthur is around.
@@bharati1872 when? where? give me the ep pls. don't cite the ep where he makes the rat Arthur complained about eating into his shoes into dinner and Arthur catches on, reverses the table and makes him eat the rat stew instead. that doesn't count.^^
you don't understand this was absolutely glorious! when merlin opens his eyes, uther was pulling his hand away, so he had shaken him awake first. then after making eye contact and establishing that merlin knew who had caught him sleeping, he then pushed him with a gentle POKE of all thing 😭😂 each moment was comedy gold!
Anthony Head being that pessimistic, grumpy, tired old cop eating donuts who spent too much time away from his family while Colin Morgan could be the clumsy, enthusiastic new recruit assigned to a senior officer who reluctantly has to show him the ropes.
@TheSweetCookieMan I like in that ep (it's called the gates of avalon btw) when Uther goes: can someone tell me what happened? Merlin: well Uther: Someone with a brain
tbh, in the 6th century a tyrant king like Uther wouldn't have lost sleep over it. bedding some servants (regardless of gender) is immaterial as long as it doesn't affect state affairs. Arthur would still be expected to marry for the benefit of the kingdom and hopefully produce an heir but other than that, the king wouldn't care much.
@@granville7 When Uther caught Gwen and Arthur together, his initial reaction was exactly that. he just laughed, assuming arthur was just messing around. It was only when Arthur proclaimed his love for Gwen that he got upset...
i'd say he'd care even less that he's a man, since there'd no risk of another child of the king having a claim to the throne (exactly what happened with morgana).
This kind of shows that...for all Uthers MANY faults and hatreds, even though Merlin is being extremely disrespectful and acting 'above his station' sleeping in a chair, on duty, with his feet on the table in Arthurs room, he 1. knows that Arthur likes Merlin, and tbh probably respects that Merlins friendship is good for Arthur, and will help to ground him. and 2. it seems he respects Merlins loyalty, and trusts in him to look out for Arthur and his best interests. Like even if he doesn't completely understand or accept their relationship, he can sense that it's good.
After Uther goes to thank (and threaten) Merlin after he saved him from Arthur they've shared some incredulous looks over Arthur in the Lady Vivian episode and such so their interactions can really be quite fun 😂
0:37 *that's when he knew he f***ed up* XD couldn't get that out of my head And the Boop, man this would have mad eme like Uther more if this wasn't deleted I couldn't stop laughing X😂🤣🤣😂
@TheSweetCookieMan :D someone needs to do a fanvid of all the Uther/Merlin scenes, cause they're hilarious! I'd do it but I don't have the footage... :(

let's just say Uther doesn't consider it a problem if Merlin was joined to Arthur's hip as long as his son marries for the benefit of Camelot and produces an heir.
That would not end well. I imagine a great deal of bloodshed and drawn swords involved. And lots of shouting, emphasis on the shouting. And it would all probably end in either Merlin tied to a burning stake or some sort of complex memory-erasing charm cast on Uther. Or just lots of running and hiding. I'm tired and babbling, sorry.
