"I had won. I was trying to smile, but it the smile of desolation. Inside I felt only the pity, and the terror, and the waste of it all. Everyone I ever loved, and who'd ever loved me, all gone; all gone down."
Definitely a very powerful move when dealing with awful people you do not like, especially narcissists and people who have wronged you - and I speak from direct experience! Narcissists feel invalidated by this tactic and try with ever more desperation to get your attention via their obnoxious behaviour - the trick is to "never" under any circumstance let them trigger you or pay them even the slightest amount of attention. They eventually skulk away feeling utterly humiliated and invalidated. This is also a 'power move' to use in a public setting against people who have seriously wronged you and are looking for your 'attention'. With one's back to your object of disgust, they would have to overtly pick a fight with you in order to get your attention and make themselves look bad in the process. Do not under any circumstances look or flinch! Your back to them tells them absolutely everything that needs to be said to them, i.e., "you are not worth my time to look at, much less talk to - plus, you are so insignificant I don't even fear you attacking me!" The most powerful silent manner of letting your enemies know their position in relation to oneself. Do try it! ;-)
@@stephaniefaypage8028 it's about the end of pagan governments in the British isles. It's an extreme religious shift. It never really died out but this fairy, Mab, was like Arthur. Mentioned once or twice on the records without context. And nobody knows who she was, or what she meant.
Yeap she s destroyed forever trying to get out of it . And nice as Merlin said he wanted to smile but did not . Prooved he s a good guy does not want to kick the dead
I'm i the only one who cries when watching this ?? There's such tragedy to this and i feel so sorry for her cause she knows the world has moved on and her kind will be forgotten forever 😢
Well, she wasn't bad, she was just desperate. Merlin didn't like how she created him to get used, so he used others instead to fight her. They were both the same, only for Mab there was more in stake, so she used dirtier methods. I really like how it's all about Merlin and Mab using others to fight each other. This scene is one of my favorit scenes at all, though I thought the film to be better than in actually is (but then again, it's TV film from 1998). I too feel sad for Mab
It's called Merlin, and it's not a movie but a mini tv series from 1998 staring Sam Neil as Merlin. You should definitely get your hands on a copy - it's the best story of Merlin and Arthur in my opinion.
@cardsharkaa on the contrary, u are mistaken, the best Story of Merlin and King Arthur is Merlin 2008-2012, but I do plan on buying this from CEX at some point...cause it does look really good and I'm a Writer myself and need some more inspiration for my Novel.
Queen Mab is a fairy referred to in William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, where "she is the fairies' midwife." In the play, she is a symbol for freedom and also becomes Romeo's psyche after he realizes that he is also a floating spirit. Later, she appears in other poetry and literature, and in various guises in drama and cinema. In the play, her activity is described in a famous speech by Mercutio written originally in prose and often adapted into iambic pentameter, in which she is described as a miniature creature who performs midnight pranks upon sleepers. Being driven by a team of atomies, she rides her chariot over their noses and "delivers the fancies of sleeping men." She is also described as a midwife to help sleepers 'give birth' to their dreams. She may be a figure borrowed from folklore, and though she is often associated with the Irish Medb in popular culture, and has been suggested by historian Thomas Keightley to be from Habundia, a more likely origin for her name would be from Mabel and the Middle English derivative "Mabily" (as used by Chaucer) all from the Latin amabilis ("lovable").
Wow. It's like Mark 6:5 from the Bible. "And because of their unbelief, he couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them."
... you got it matt... remember this... but further... this is how everyone needs to deal with the negativity from within... we are not just attacked from the outside... :)
Humans are in prison planet because of the revolt in the past. The only way out of prison planet is for everyone to get on their knees. Until that happens they will be trapped. God created prison planet for those that don't obey the ten commandments and revolt. Currently everything that is making them sin is being removed from underneath them until they can no longer sin.
In the book frik blows a horning leaving Merlin and mab In a time bubble while outside hundreds of years pass frik writes about Arthur and his knights the lady in the lake and all others except mab so she is forgotten by the time the door opens
Oh man I remember those books so much more detail in them which is common in books vs movies/tv shows and I believe the only god still alive in the books was idath and the wild hunt was the last bastion of magical creatures
This is now my attitude to all the vomit & bile on Twitter. I choose to turn my back to them, to not give their fear credence in my life, to allow them to fade as they care not for us but only for themselves
@@jamarehire2011 Interestingly enough, that's not true! See, we are seeing and hearing the story from Merlin himself through his eyes as it happens. But the story he is telling the audience leaves out Queen Mab entirely so as to not accidentally ressurrect her. That's why Frik approaches him at the end and says, "I was surprised you decided to omit certain...." and Merlin responds with, "Oh, that's the way they like it and besides, they wouldn't have believed it if I told it the way it really was." or something along those lines. Haha! I thought it was a very clever way to explain that.
1:16How good it would be if this happened to those who got attached to me,harassed me,made my angry, wronged me,mocked me,hurt me,humiliated me,misbehaved with me,made fun of me.
I think she loved him on some level. I mean, he was very important to her and if she really hated him she could have just killed him. It might have taken a lot of power but she could have killed him until the very end of the movie when they actually dueled. At that point she was too weak to kill him outright but could outsmart and kill him in battle if he got careless. I like to think that the only love left in her heart at that point was for Merlin.
He's probably a lot older than that by the end of the movie. And not to spoil anything but the ending suggests he lives even longer (at least another 40 years) at the very, very end.
jamie bibo No, she's Miranda Richardson, a great actress who has done tons of movies. The one who plays Rita Repulsa also plays Effie in the Hunger Games, but I don't recall her name
As a much younger person watching this I felt sad that the old ways and the magic had all left. I felt that Christianity had cheated the world out of magic and replaced it banality.
King Arthur's legends were very popular with Christians. And Christians back then and still believe a literal miracle occurs in every Holy Mass...if anything Modernism and scientifism (the belief that everything is reducible to reason and science) has killed magic, not Christianity.

Could you imagine if people did this to Covid news? Turn off all social media notifications turn off your phones and TV. I bet Covid would disappear quick 😂😂
The point of this is Mab's death brought on by indifference and apathy depriving her and the old ways of the last ounce of collective belief they need to survive. Commenters like yourself bringing up the former president are doing the complete and total opposite of what's happening in this scene.
If you're bringing him up in a completely unrelated comment section like this, you're doing the exact opposite of what Merlin's doing to Mab in this scene.
