It's to bad some people don't have anything better to do than vandalize good people things that they have worked hard and long to enjoy I am so sorry that happened I pray you can find comfort in you're awesome home on wheels hope you can find comfort in you're travels and nothing happens agai God bless you all
Thanks Robert. Nice message. Thanks for your lovely comments. We do feel that we are beginning to feel much better about it. So many lovely people with helpful thoughts. Really does help us 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Stay strong and stay safe folks. I love that little gadget which you fixed to stop the driver seat from swiveling around. I'd never seen or heard of them before, very clever.
This is life. Traveling in an RV is wonderful, but like anything else, it's not all lollipops and roses. Gotta get back on the horse after a fall and keep moving forward. Merlin looks so much better with his glass back in. He'll be good as new once the body work is completed. You know, after my dear husband passed, I didn't think I could travel full-time alone, save my pets, but I did, and I can. Your apprehension will pass in time, and you'll be making wonderful memories together in Merlin. Hugs and happy trails. ❤️
Hi. Thanks for your lovely comment. You certainly know how hard it is to get back on with things after what you’ve been through. Your dear husband would be so proud of you. ❤️Safe travels x
Hi. I'm so glad you got the glass fixed and are in the process of getting a date to repair the metalwork. Now, the most important thing is to see you both heal form this and rebuild your confidence so you can enjoy motorhoming even more than before the thugs spoilt things. I appreciate just how much this has hurt you both, but I really hope and pray this will just become a distant memory. God bless you both. X
Hi Jimmy. So pleased you are following our journey beyond the “incident”. We’ve just got the dent in the side to fix now. We do have a Facebook page called Wizard in The Wild, where we post little updates on our adventures as well as encouraging other, like minded individuals to do the same. Do let us know if you would like to join. Xx
Thank you for the update. I’ve only recently came across you channel. You are beautiful human beings, unfortunately there are the ugly human beings. Keep processing and talking about your feelings. You definitely have a bit of PTSD. Love and peace to you both. From Pennsylvania,🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Janice for your kind message. We are working through it. We have another vlog tonight where we Goto a pubstop as a first step to overnight camping. Love back to you from south wales 🏴 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Ellie & Graham glad to see the windows have been replaced and Merlin was taken for a drive. Unfortunately there are people with no empty or common sense just ignore them. Best of luck in your future travels.
Thanks. Nice to hear from you again. Thanks for your kind wishes. Thanks. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. We will also make modifications to Merlin to help protect us better. Thanks again fir commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Hope you don’t stop travelling that would be a true shame, would love to see your blog from Arran, I live on the west coast of Scotland, I sincerely hope the good trips you’ve had in the past gives you both the will to keep travelling ❤️ from 🏴 🌅🚢🚐🛣
Hi John. Thank you. What a lovely place to live! We will be putting our Arran vlogs up as soon as we can ( prob not for a few weeks as this incident has delayed our editing ) we do have a couple of series we filmed on Skye last autumn and also back there in winter in our back catalogue if you’re interested? 😊safe travels x
Just came across your channel after your post appeared in my timeline. I hope you get a lot more subscribers in solidarity with you after your recent trauma.
Glad u got it fixed & hopefully u never have to deal with anything like that again. Safe travels to u both in future journey Best of luck From Kentucky, USA.
Thank you for continuing to share your experience and how you feel. This can help others that go through something traumatizing. I can relate. I suffer from severe anxiety and I am scared to travel. I talked myself into driving from Northern California to my daughters home in Southern California. It’s a 5 hour drive and scary for me. My psychologist talked me into taking the plunge and jist do it. She said what could happen? You may just have fun. I was excited and nervous but I did it, but then a deer ran out in front of me and I had no time to stop. I hit the deer and the deer ran off. But I had to get a new car. 😫 But I eventually made another trip in a new car. I was so nervous and scared. But everything turned out okay. So I understand how you both must feel. I know it’s easier said than done to say when you fall off a horse we have to get back on and give it a try and next time the ride will be better. But I know it’s hard to do as well. I wish you both the very best. And strength to continue doing what you love. ❤🙏
Hi Aztec girl. What you’ve achieved is amazing! Can totally relate to the challenges you faced and continue to face. It’s not easy! Anxiety is the strangest thing as it can jump up and bite you at any time. I’ve learned to watch it arising and to question it there. Rather than a) suppressing it and pretending it’s not there or B) letting it run away into the world of what ifs. Staying present really helps. I notice how I’m feeling (anxious) and take some deep breaths. Keep doing what you are doing and thanks for your lovely supportive comments ❤️🙏 safe travels xx
A few hours isn't bad at all. My side window had to be ordered so they put plastic in place for a few days but the windscreen was only a few hours. They came out to my work while I was working . My excess was 100. Glad your both okay. I'm thinking there's a group going around doing it. Mine wasn't far from Manchester. Glad your both safe
Wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a group doing it. There were at least 3 of them to choreograph the brick throwing! So pleased you’re ok too. Nasty business. Takes a bit of getting over. Safe travels 👍
B*stards! Please do NOT stop going out with Merlin! Just get the cameras on the outside please. Ellie please don’t let this overwhelm you, even with your PTSD! Keep going it’s really inspirational! I only saw this today on my feed as I’m Always watching rv videos. Do NOT stop! 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Hi Ruksyo. Thanks for watching and for your lovely comments❤️. Do hope you will consider subscribing to the channel (if you haven’t already) as you will be able to see how we are managing going forward. ( and yes that does involve getting cameras 😉) we really can’t let them win. Safe travels 🥰👍🚐
Penarth looks lovely! I’m delighted to see you enjoying Merlin, again. I’m a new subscriber and look forward to watching your other vlogs. Thanks for sharing! Cheers, from Lancaster, Pennsylvania!
Aw bless you Sheree. It is lovely there and we feel quite safe there too. Thanks for subscribing to the channel. Sending a hug from the UK. Safe travels x
Reach out to other van lifers that this happened to and get ideas as well. Plus talking with them is good therapy. Don't quit van life trips and overnights. Take it slow and overnight after you add other safety features to your van. I saw a van life solo woman with cameras all around her van and she had a monitor by her bed too. It also recorded and kept the recording for 17 hours. It was pretty clear camera by facial features. It did not use a whole lot of power either. Motion lights are also a good idea as you mentioned. Love you two. You will get through this I know it.
Thanks so much for you interesting comment. We appreciate you taking the time to comment. 👍. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. We will also make modifications to Merlin to help protect us better. Thanks again for commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Don't sell yourselves short! You said you didn't think your little channel would have any bearing on far away places but you'd be surprised. I live in America and I found your channel by looking up camping type videos so you never know who will show up! You both seem like a very nice couple and I'm so sorry that vandalism happened to your van. Some people are evil and just want to make everyone else as miserable as they are. I wish you both all the best and stay safe!
Thank you for your kind comments. If anything good has come out of this, it’s that we have now found lots of friends in America. Sad that it happened to be under these circumstances but it’s definitely a silver lining to that particular cloud! Hope you get to enjoy more of our vlogs of much happier times with us and our 3 little pooches. Safe travels 🧙♀️😊👍
Thanks Sherrie. We will. Merlin means a lot to us. Looking forward to putting this behind us in 2023. Hope you will enjoy following our new adventures during much happier times Happy new year xx
Great video Mr Wizard, I can see that the attack has affected you and I think you both are strong willed people that will rebloom. Good to see Merlin is dusting off his pointy hat ready for more journeys. Love your computer screensaver of Glastonbury Tor, it's my most favourite place on earth. Safe travels.
Hi Darren. Thank you. Hope you are right. We are taking things steady👍🚐We love The Tor so much. It has a magical feel to it. Mrs Wizard walked up there at dawn to get some sunrise pictures. They will be in an up and coming vlog. When we eventually get back on track 😆take care
What a lovely video.I love seeing your country.I understand your feelings after you endured such a frightening experience. My husband and I always take protection and although it's no guarantee it makes us feel better. We've never boondocked but can see how relaxing it could be.Im just to much of a chicken. The one thing positive that can come from such a scary ordeal is having more van security . I think the locks you have are great!!! Your puppies are precious and such sweet names.KEEP enjoying your lives and don't let them steal your joy but as living life can be risky be as safe as possible!!! Ps I didn't know pets could go inside restaurants although years ago as a young army wife living in Germany it was allowed. How great!! They are a very important part of our families.
Another lovely message from you Becky. We are going to implement cameras and lights using motion sensors. Although I suspect we will be very nervous the first time we wildcamp which is what you call boondocked I think. Glad you like our doggies. Thanks fir watching. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
I just saw your video of when the thugs who broke your van's windows. Thank God you were not hurt. Don't let them change your dreams. Take care. I'm writing from NV USA.
This is my second comment to you because I have only just subscribed after seeing what had happened in your vlog just before this one. I am glad that you are all ok and Merlin is gotten his windows fixed etc. I adore your doggies too. Stay safe!
Hi Ellie and Graham, we had security film applied to our windscreen and door windows. It really protects the windows from missiles such as you experienced. It would not stop a thief if they were determined, it would take them about 6 or 7mins to break the glass but it would deter opportunists. I know you weren't broken into but it helps with our piece of mind knowing it is done. We also have the locks on all doors as you do and cameras The chair lock gadget is a good one, I will be pinching that idea. Take care guys and don't let the ....... get you down xx
Thank you Norma for the comment. As you will see in some of our later vlogs we are getting back out there when we can. We now put our cameras out at night that are linked to our WiFi. Have a look at the vlog ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eGnVktMWS_0.html I hope your travels are safe. Take care 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏👍
Hello there, only just discovered your channel following your attack, I hope you are feeling better as the days pass. I had noticed you had security locks already but hadn't realised you can't lock them at night. HeoSafe do extremely good locks specifically for your cab doors, easy to retrofit and about £160 a pair. The advantage of these is that you can lock them whilst inside and they really won't let the doors open I promise, very impressive. Certainly make me feel secure. The important thing is that Merlin did keep them out, your safe space wasn't invaded and you coped extremely well, anyone would be unnerved by such an event. I hope you are able to put this behind you both and get back to enjoying your Merlin times. All the very best 👍
Hi. Thank you for your lovely comments. You’ve got some great ideas there. The locks sound good. We have ordered some cameras too. Our space wasn’t invaded and that is so important. We are getting there and still like being out in the van. Just taking our time. Safe travels x
Bless you both, there always a few odd bods that throw their tuppence worth in, glad ye Rose above. Our old dog was called Merlyn, and he brought us so much joy, I hope you both get back to your happy place in your hearts. Its ok to not be ok after this sad part of your rollercoaster ride, but please don't give up. Ye are so much more aware now of idiots, so ye will be extra careful where parking, may mean extra planning ahead. We once camped in a place, quiet place, that night bonfire and drinking nearby. It scared us, that was 30 years ago, still camping away, and glad we didn't give up. Much love from Ireland.
Hi Lorraine. These things do shake you. It’s really helpful to hear how you’ve got beyond it and had many happy holidays since. Onward and upward. Greetings to Ireland x
We really feel for you both, it must have been a terrifying experience, it’s such a shame that there are idiots on this planet who find it fun to carry out such acts without thinking of the consequences and the anguish that they cause. We really hope that you are both starting to get through what happened and that you will gradually get your confidence back for wild camping, a few nights away at a club site may be a good way to ease yourselves back to enjoying Merlin as you should be able to. I can only imagine what you are going through and how to treat future travels. Your experience has certainly made us think more about the stop over locations we will choose in the future and security measures to take. I hope that the support you are given will help and if you are in our area and looking for a safe park up, our driveway is always available. Thinking of you both and safe travels for the future. Paul & Barb
Paul and Barb, that’s such a lovely message. So kind of you to offer us use of your drive. That’s made us feel quite emotional in a good way. Thank you. Messages like this are helping us. I suspect that in future we will be more careful about where we park. Also looking at motion sensor lights and CCTV. Thanks again. Take care 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
@@Wizardinthewild Hi Probably would help if I told you where we are Doh, we are in Liverpool and there’s even an outside 240v socket, both our vans will fit on the drive and we are in a quiet cul-de-sac close to the motorway. We are going to fit 4 external and an internal Amazon blink cameras connected to our Wi-Fi, no wiring required and monitoring where ever you are. Keep safe P&b
@@thehawksontourandGloriaCV20 thanks guys. Will have a look at those cameras. May be a good idea. I think I know what lights I am going with but still looking at camera. Thanks again. ❤️🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏 PS. I have subscribed to you. 👍
Please don't pay any attention to the idiots making terrible comments, I would have been terrified, I think you are both very brave and handled this awful incident very well . As for the lights thing , I bought a solar powered PIR light that has a magnetic back and I stick it on the outside of my van if wild camping , its really powerful and seems to have kept anyone who may be up to no good away , I just bought it from Ebay. All the best to you both and also to Merlin.
That’s the sort of light I want. Preferably that charged on USB as well as solar. We appreciate you taking the time to comment. 👍. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. We will also make modifications to Merlin to help protect us better. Thanks again for commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Please don't let this take away your joy at traveling and life. We only get one shot at this world, enjoy it. Get outdoor cameras and there are other safety precautions you could take. Changing some windows to Polycarbonate (Lexan) which are unbreakable amd some are bulletproof. 🐾🐾
Hi again. We still love Merlin and have done a few campsites which is helping. We have cameras now and are hoping they will act as a deterrent. Our side windows are polycarbonate and dual skinned👍Think the front and sides have to be glass though. Hoping this is a one off that doesn’t happen again 🤞. Take care 😊👍
It must of been terrible. But do not give up on something you love. There are some people out that hate to see others happy. When my son gets older and i can look at retirement. This is something i want to do. Spend 2-3months at a time traveling. Couple of nights a week at a campsite to use amenities and rest of the days wild camping. Although I still have quite sometime before retirement Seeing your videos helps to keep pushing me on to get finances in place ready for the day hopefully. Keep on doing what makes you happy. Don't let idiots ruin it. We only live once.
Hi Martin. Appreciate your message. Certainly hope you get to do that yourself when the time is right. We appreciate you taking the time to comment. 👍. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. We will also make modifications to Merlin to help protect us better. We are putting out updates on our RU-vid channel Wizard in the Wild if you want to know the latest. Thanks again for commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Keep going guys. I'm 73 and wishing I could be as free as you are. You are blessed. You'll get through this horrible thing sooner or later. I pray it will be sooner 🙏🙏🙏❤️
Was that Rory Kinnear the actor sat behind you in the cafe ?😄 Don't let them get you down. Stupid vandals are very few and far between. We get one shot at life and these people who have derailed your dreams cannot win. Look forward to more wild camping videos😀
We think it was! I ( Ellie) was totally oblivious to the fact and as usual made a big fuss of the dog! He was great in the Bank of Dave wasn’t he? If you are reading this Rory Sorry I didn’t say hi! 🤣. We are getting past the incident now. Have managed a few off grids since. Can’t let them win. Safe travels 👍
Thank you for the update, I really felt for you both - love your comment about looking scared! Anyone would be. Remember that we may not know you in person but feel like friends, thanks to your videos and as a result, we are all supporting you and thinking of you. Stay strong and don't let a few idiots stop you living your life, your way. Your videos give lots of us so much pleasure and I'm sure I speak for so many when I say thank you. Onwards and upwards guys! :)
Thanks Emma! It’s the love and support we are getting from so many lovely people that’s really pushing us on. 2 little day trips in Merlin now 👍 😉really appreciate your kindness. So pleased you enjoy watching our adventures. Hope to be out there exploring again before too long 🤞safe travels x
Well done getting out in Merlin. When you are out and about in South Wales suggest places to go and see. We no longer have a motorhome but often go to South Wales and stay in caravans. So we need to know where to go. I lived in Swansea in the 70s but everywhere has changed so much. Take care both, all of you.
Hi Pamela. Lovely to get such a nice message. 🙏. Thanks. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. We will also make modifications to Merlin to help protect us better. Thanks again fir commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏

I've just noticed the extra security locks on the door and the damage around it my guess is the people/person spotted that and thought their must be something of value inside that's why they had a go at getting in. I've never seen another camper van conversion or motorhome with these type of locks fitted they are normally used on work van's containing tools or equipment inside.
No I don’t think the locks attracted them. They didn’t have a go at getting in. In fact quite the opposite. Hit and run in a very cowardly way. Three bricks hit and one was quite close to a door lock. I think it was coincidence. If you want to know more about the locks here is the link. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vd9ZfiBufgA.html. Thanks for commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
@@Wizardinthewild looks like they had other activities going on in this spot then and wasn't to pleased at your present their then I expect the police will be fully aware of what goes on that's if they can be bothered. Hopefully your van will be all sorted and looking new again soon. As you said it was unfortunate that you arrived in the dark, if your in this position again I'd stop off at the service on the motorway and pay the fee. Safe travels for the future.
Hi Graham and Ellie really felt for you both with the attack. Following your last video happened to see an American video about van security. They had professionally fitted a window film which was pretty impenetrable from the outside but could be pushed out from inside if needing to exit the van. It also made the glass more resistant to breaking on impact. Something I intend to look into for our van as the side windows are an obvious weak point. Just a thought you might like to consider. Very best wishes to you both for the future and hope you get your mojo back. John & Jenny
That’s a good idea. Others have mentioned it as well. So thanks I will look at it. Thanks. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. We will also make modifications to Merlin to help protect us better. Thanks again fir commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
@@Wizardinthewild Graham just the thought of a brick coming through a window is chilling so increasing the safety of the van and increasing its safety as a shell sounds attractive to me. Enjoy your videos and thankyou. Take care and don’t let the bastards destroy your love of travelling. John & Jenny
Thanks for the update! I do like Wales a lot been there many times while on holiday since a kid in the 80's. Last time I was there was in Swansea way back in Summer of 2019. As I said in my other message let me know when you come round my parts of Kent and will buy you both lunch 🙂
Swansea beaches are great. Love it round there. Will let you know when Kent is on the plan. 👍. We have family in the Surrey and Hampshire area so that tends to be an area we Goto a lot. Stay safe. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
@@Wizardinthewild Yea they are, yes please do let me know when you go Kent bound! Ah good old Surrey/Hampshire! I have some friends in parts of Surrey in: Harpenden, Watford, St Albans, Camberley, Guilford, Woking, + Epsom. 🙂 Not been to Hampshire for many years, but was only on Homes Under the Hammer 2 weeks ago in Portsmouth 👍 When you last went to Kent where did you go?? You stay safe as well!
We live in such a disturbing world that you don't feel safe enjoying your life. So glad to see no one was hurt. Take care and stay safe, it takes time to heal after something like that happens but time will heal.
We traveled in our rv for 20 years and 200,000 miles. It wa so much fun but I didn't like it away from town so we always stayed in campgrounds , nice ones. A little more expensive but safe. Don't stop going it is a wonderful way to travel. I'm sorry and good luck, safer in parks

I am so sorry that this has happened. There are all kinds of not so nice people. We travel full-time with our Airstream trailer. 17 years in September. We travel across the US from Massachusetts to Arizona each year. We normally park at churches as we minister and put on concerts in churches across the country. We did have had a couple of instances over the years. Nothing really huge but it can be scary and make you feel less secure. Praying you can get past this nasty experience and continue on in your adventures.
Thank you so much for your kind comments and for watching the vlog. It must be incredible travelling in your Airstream full time. They are beautiful! It is scary when such things happen and it still influences us. We are thankfully getting steadily better as time goes on. We still love our campervan. Just need to be more cautious going forward. Thank you for your prayers too 🙏. We do appreciate it. Thank you for joining our FB page 🥰. If you fancy it, maybe post a picture of your lovely airstream or one of your favourite places. We love to see pictures showing what everyone is getting up to or just the things they enjoy. Safe travels x🙏😊
Hi both. We are getting there thanks. ( Ellie here) I was doing ok until it came to filming an update in the van. Still a bit to get my head round I think. Nice to be in a Merlin though. 😉. Hope you are both ok. Safe travels x
Bad as it all was, thankfully it was only property which ended up attacked, and damaged, and you are both safe, but it is a mammoth headache having to sort things out after this sort of incident. (Our car was attacked by vandals one night so I know first hand). I'm not surprised you are traumatised by the whole thing, and I'm sure the 'getting back on the horse' process will help with healing your spirit. But of course it takes time to see how you will feel longer term with regard to if and how you camp in future. I really did appreciate your response to my own message of support. It was the first time I had even come across your channel and it wasn't expected that you'd take time out to respond. So thank you for that, and you've gained yourself a new subscriber for being so courteous and nice. I'll be so interested to see how things go for you in future in trying to get over this horrible thing.
Hi Again! Thank you for your lovely comment. Yes. It’s merciful that it was only properly. As you say, the sorting out afterwards is a headache and does remind you somewhat of things you’d rather put behind you. We still don’t know how we will feel going off grid. We do know that we still love Merlin ( who took the hit for us after all) so will take time to ease ourself back into things. Thanks for following us too. It means a lot. Take care Ellie x
So pleased to hear the real community have supported you with positive thoughts, ignore those that have nothing better to do than be negative - the world needs less people with this mindset - please do what brings you pleasure, and thanks so much for sharing your travels with us, I have see so many wonderful places I would never have known about. Brisbane, Australia
Hi guys glad to see your coming back to some kind of normality , personaly i would never wild camp i don't think i would get a wink of sleep , i use pub stops cl's etc. I never understand why people give there a name but thats just me.but each to his own.
Hi Ian. Did our pub stop over last night. Went ok👍. Will be in Friday’s vlog. I know. Funny this naming thing isn’t it? I guess as we have a channel it helps to make Merlin part of the family. But we’ve got friends who don’t get the whole naming thing either. Safe travels x
Speaking with some similar experience, I can confirm that staying positive and determined in what you want to do is the only way to deal with anything like this. Awareness of how and where you are is also helpful in ensuring you keep safe, obvious really but it doesn't hurt to remind yourselves. Stay safe and enjoy yourselves, this is not a practice run, this is life. 😎
Thanks Stuart. Good advise. Thanks for your lovely comments. We do feel that we are beginning to feel much better about it. So many lovely people with helpful thoughts. Really does help us 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Honestly ignore these idiots , smashed your van for views , love your channel , don’t answer any of those nasty comments take care stay safe love from Melbourne Australia xx
Thank you for letting us know how you are both doing and Merlin of course I cannot begin to imagine but glad you are spending time in Merlin and over time you will feel more at ease in him I am sure The security will help and seeing your pride and joy come back to its best I was the same when my three week old Volkswagen Golf was badly hit on holiday penarth looks lovely must put it on my list to visit! Looking forward to the next video love to you both Daniel and Victoria
As I mentioned in my reply to the original video in question, I have the upmost sympathy and empathy for your experience. I’m absolutely taken aback by the revelation that some people have nothing better to do than be negative towards you both. It will take time to recover from the experience and I hope you don’t stop your blog👍👍👍
Thanks again David. It will take time for sure. Messages like this are helping us. I suspect that in future we will be more careful about where we park. Also looking at motion sensor lights and CCTV. Thanks again. Take care 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Oh I'm so glad ya'll got Merlin fixed and that you're checking into safety measures so you can go back out on more trips! Don't let these people steal your joy! Love seeing your beautiful little babies! Hey from Hiddenite North Carolina!!💜💚🌻🌻
Trena 🙏. You really are catching up on our stuff. Thank you so much it means a lot to us. If you do Facebook we have a small little group called Wizard in the wild. If you just click “join” we will let you in. We even have a few people from Australia and New Zealand. Mostly Uk of course. You would be most welcome. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Here is an idea for you. Check into window security films. They make it much more difficult to break the windows. For extra security put the film on both sides of the window. The films aren't that expensive you just apply them over the existing glass.
Hi. Thanks for watching. Does the film work with electric windows? May well look into doing this on the van at some point. Merlin is still being fixed at the moment. Safe travels 😊👍
So nice to see you doing an update and that you are able to move forward at the pace that is right for you in what must be testing times to say the least. Can't believe the damage to poor old Merlin but at least phase 1 of repairs is complete. Think its safe to say that most folks are behind you all the way. Take care and stay safe 🙏👍
Thanks Tim. Hope you are both good (and Poppy). The support has been amazing with a few crank heads thrown in which amuse me, well just before I delete them anyway. We went out in Merlin again today. Just to a local place called Tredegar house. There is also a CAMC site there to. Was great. Lovely weather. Squirrels for the dogs to play with. Back home by dark. We are getting there. Thanks for the support Tim 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
So sorry to hear of your experience. We have camped alongside the road and isolated places in the past but these days safety has been my concern. I do not know the solution to the dilemma that you now face. the only safe option would be to give up your favourite activity. Cctv and security lights would be a help but then you are still in the same situation. Staying on a secure site would be one answer. Lorry drivers are facing a similar problem. Hope that you reach a suitable decision that you are happy with. Goof Luck. Geoff
Hi Geoffrey. Thank you for your kind comments. We are gradually getting over the incident. It will always be a risk when we park off grid. Shouldn’t be, but it is. We do now have CCTV cameras which go some way towards making us feel safer. There’s also a part of us that feels it’s really important not to let this incident rob us of something we really love doing. Safe travels to you 😊🙏
Hi guys great to see you both out enjoying merlin . The camera idea is great. Keep strong you will get through this and you’ll both be stronger. God bless you both Steve b U.K. 👍
Hi 👋 Thanks for the update, give Ellie a huge hug from me. There’s no rush, take it slow and you’ll soon both be feeling more settled 😘 I’m glad you had a nice little trip out, the food looked lovely. Take care of each other. Em💛
Hi Em. Bless you for your kind words. Sending hugs right back to you🤗. It’s been really good popping out for a cuppa in Merlin. We don’t know how longer trips will work out but are very much taking things one step at a time. Have a lovely weekend Ellie xx
Congratulations on having Merlin’s windows fixed and your first venture out. I’m praying you both continue healing from this attack & find peace to continue your journey. Thank you for taking us along to the seashore. Haven’t been there for a few years - I could almost smell the salty air! Love & prayers to you both, from Pennsylvania, USA!! ❤️🙏🏻
Thank you Judith. What a nice message. I just spent 5 minutes reading darn right nasty rude idiotic messages. Then I found yours ❤️. Thanks for your lovely comments. We do feel that we are beginning to feel much better about it. So many lovely people with helpful thoughts. Really does help us 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Hi Colin. We are getting there thanks. Hope you are both well and Daisy too. It was really nice getting out in Merlin even for a little while. Early days. Love to you both x
Greetings from New Zealand!! Your "little channel" does have bearing down here. I love watching everybody else's travels, particularly older people still traveling in retirement #lifegoals! That would be my worst nightmare having the van vandalised at night, we haven't freedom camped often but the few times we have, so far so good. As for the idiots suggesting you've trashed your own van for views .... speechless!
Thank you for your very supportive message. Very glad you enjoy watching us. We try to be relaxing to watch normally. This unfortunate incident is not what our vlogs are normally like. So please don’t get the wrong impression 😂. If you want to get a good feeling to what we are normally about have a look at our Skye off grid tour videos. Here is a link to the first in that series. There is also a full playlist for it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TWtGlW-K35c.html
@Wizard in the wild Campervan adventures UK no worries here with the wrong impression , have already been following you guys for months. So does my friend in Christchurch
@@hfamilytravels aww that’s good to hear. I always feel bad if I can’t remember individual subscribers. In the beginning it was easy but now it’s hard as we have thousands 😂. Really do appreciate all of them. 🙏
So good to see you two back in Merlin and enjoying some time in a beautiful place - that's what Merlin is all about :) I'm sure having the windows fixed made a huge difference, it removed the visual reminder of what took place and helps you feel more secure too. Looking forward to your journey through the aftermath of this, and how you move forward from here. You are both very calm, peaceful people and you both speak and explain things well (especially how you are feeling, which can be difficult to put into words). Baby steps can be powerful...
Thanks for your lovely comments. We are getting there. This week we edited a vlog we made back in the summer when we were off grid. It was quite hard to do as it was made at a time before all this stuff happened. But pleased we were able to put that one out there at last. Hope you enjoy it. Safe travels x
Good to hear you’re slowly fixing things both Merlin-wise and self-wise and that supportive comments from fellow vanners and others have eased the horror of it all. As for the 1% critics, maybe they should sit in their vehicle while someone hurls bricks at them? 🙄. Take care both x
Hi Sue. Yes most people have been incredibly supportive. We have had a few interesting comments. One said that we should stay home and do some knitting. It made me chuckle 🤭 as it goes I do like knitting…in Merlin 😉 take care x
Hi Guys glad you are getting Merlin sorted out, you’ll get there, we hope you are both ok, sending healing thoughts also to Ellie, Best wishes as always, Bruce and Linda from Edinburgh.
Hello you two. What a lovely message. Thanks for your lovely comments. We do feel that we are beginning to feel much better about it. So many lovely people with helpful thoughts. Really does help us 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Thanks Patricia. Messages like this are helping us. I suspect that in future we will be more careful about where we park. Also looking at motion sensor lights and CCTV. Thanks again. Take care 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Keep traveling and enjoy the sights while your health allows you. The world has changed in the USA and Canada. We will be married 50 years next month. Plan on camping in the years ahead. Stay safe and be vigilant.
Thanks Betty. We appreciate you taking the time to comment. 👍. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. We will also make modifications to Merlin to help protect us better. Thanks again for commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Sorry you had that happen to you I hope you will not let it stop you from travelling, maybe going for day trips for a while will ease the anxiety as time has a way of making us forget a bit. You live in such a beautiful country it seems a shame not to see all its beauty. My mom was from England a little village called Tongham in Surrey and it was my dream to go there. My husband and I went there for our honeymoon and also Scotland and some of Wales in 1974 I am so glad we did that trip as we have been unable to come to Britain again due to health issues. We live in Ontario so a long way to come. My mom's brother lives in Weston Super Mare so I have relatives there. I hope you will continue on with your travels as it is such a rewarding experience. Ignore the trolls they are unhappy people who want everyone to be like them. Wishing you the best in your future travels a new fan.
Thanks for your message. I used to live near Farnham which is next to Tongham. Stockcar racing stadium there. We now visit Weston Supermare quite a lot. We have vlogs in it. We appreciate you taking the time to comment. 👍. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. We will also make modifications to Merlin to help protect us better. Thanks again for commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Thanks Sharon. Lovely comments from people like you is really helping. We will probably avoid these car parks in the future plus we are looking at motion detected lights and camera’s. Thanks for commenting. Stay safe 🐶🐶🧙♂️🚐🙏
I do feel for your lovely wife, I too have PTSD so I totally relate with how she's feeling, I hope your ok too and have felt better since that awful night 😔 please please don't stop your travels, it's something ive wanted to do with my adult daughter who is an autistic lady but we both lack both confidence and courage to do things out of our comfort zone but seeing you both enjoying it gave us the hope that just maybe we can oneday do this too, im 53 and my daughter is 33 and we've never even been on holiday in our lives so when we found you and your lobely lady on here we absolutely couldn't wait to see exactly what it all entailed and I have to say we have binge watched you since that terrible night that you both endured and your bravery and grace absolutely blew us away, please don't let them ¤◇¡%& win, please show people like us just how beautiful and enjoyable van life can be. Much love to you both. Xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi Lorna. Your comments really touched us. Bless you. Really hope that you and your lovely daughter realise your dream of travels in a campervan. There are many places you can travel to where you will feel safe. ( campsites and the like) And the beauty of it is that you take your little home with you with all your familiar things around you. Which will help you both feel comfortable and safe. That’s what I love. Our question isn’t about the joy of having Merlin. It’s just about whether we go off grid again. Really hope you realise your dreams. Sending hugs. Ellie x

@@Ariesbuddha 🥰bless you. So pleased you are feeling inspired to look at campervans and a life of adventure. Just take things gently day by day. And enjoy the journey ❤️x
Wow, that was absolutely horrible. I am so very sorry this happened to you guys. There are such ugly people in this world. I do hope and pray that you cary protection while you travel if you know what I mean. God Bless you both. Thank God you both were ok and nothing worse happened. 💗💗💗💗🙏🙏🙏🙏
Mark. We certainly won’t be using that sirtbif spot again ! Thanks for your lovely comments. We do feel that we are beginning to feel much better about it. So many lovely people with helpful thoughts. Really does help us 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
I would cover up your license plate on your van in videos. Only because it's personal to you. I'm sorry this happend I just found your channel and love it. ❣❣
Thank you Lisa. Glad you like the channel. We appreciate you taking the time to comment. 👍. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. Hope you recover from this horrible event. Why would anyone do it to themselves. I am new to your channel. I hope you can get past this blot on your travels.
Strange isn’t it. Thanks. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. We will also make modifications to Merlin to help protect us better. Thanks again fir commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Great to see Merlin on the mend, what a shame you found more damage on the body work but hope they can all be fixed at the same time. Hope Ellie (and you both) can continue to move forward. Love from us both, David & Rachel ❤️
Thanks both of you. We are feeling a bit better about it now. Even been out in Merlin today (day van stuff) so we are getting there. Thanks for your message 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
I commented on your original video, and said I personally never park overnight in a public carpark. However what happened to you was random and rare, As we get older( Iam 68 we do get a feeling of being vulnerable and also get cautious, Maybe you should try secure campsites to get your confidence back, don't let what happened put you off
Hi Red. Well said. We appreciate you taking the time to comment. 👍. Comments like this are helping to make us feel better. We will no doubt modify where we camp in the future. We will also make modifications to Merlin to help protect us better. Thanks again for commenting. 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Hi Graham and Ellie - it’s plain to see that this has really knocked the stuffing out of you both . It’s a cliche ,but time is a great healer. Do whatever you need to do just now to make using Merlin comfortable but I’m sure in time this will become less raw. Merlin is still a safe space as he did protect you all through this awful event. Best wishes and hoping you feel able to resume your travels soon.
Thank you Hilary, you are right time is a great healer. Thanks for your lovely comments. We do feel that we are beginning to feel much better about it. So many lovely people with helpful thoughts. Really does help us 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Love to you both, don’t let the bar stewards get to you. Unfortunately there are some idiots about, just watched Cameron’s video, he parked his on the side of the road to get some food, and he had his offside door mirror smashed off, £700 bill. I had my car damaged a few years ago whilst getting chemo in the hospital car park. Yes its demoralising, but it can be repaired. Your adventures give you a purpose, lots of fun. ❤
Hi Ian. Sorry to hear about your experience whilst having chemo. It beggars belief that people would do such a thing😔. Just a few idiots spoil it for so many others. We are doing our best to get back into the adventures. Safe travels x
I’m sorry you had to go through what you did. It was a simple act of vandalism though. I hope you don’t overreact and let it ruin your quiet enjoyment. No one tried to steal your van after all. They just wanted to scare you which they did. Stay comfortable and safe.
Thanks very much. Thanks for your lovely comments. We do feel that we are beginning to feel much better about it. So many lovely people with helpful thoughts. Really does help us 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
@@Wizardinthewild you both deserve to enjoy the same things you enjoyed before these menaces tried to alter that for you. Cameras are a great idea so you have something to give law enforcement. Once you have the van repaired completely you’ll start to feel better and move forward.
Thank you. Messages like this are helping us. I suspect that in future we will be more careful about where we park. Also looking at motion sensor lights and CCTV. Thanks again. Take care 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
Van life videos seem to have a universal appeal that transcends borders. Those who follow van life channels tend to do so based more on the personality of the VLers than what rig they have, or country they are based in. I follow channels in the UK, Canada and America, mostly, as that's where most seem to be - well, English-speaking ones, at least! Anyway, definitely try not to let this incident affect you too much. All the best for your future adventures!
You obviously follow a wide variety of Van life channels. Amazing you found our little one. Thanks for your lovely comments. We do feel that we are beginning to feel much better about it. So many lovely people with helpful thoughts. Really does help us 🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🙏
