Hi Jayda, I’ve been watching a lot of your tutorials lately. I like this one a lot. It would make a pretty shawl, too for spring/sumner. Nice n wide n long. Joined with a single crochet abd border with first single crochet, then the back single crochet where you go into the stitch before to complete the single crochet. I think that stitch is so pretty. Also do it on the Afghan. I’ve saved all your tutorials I’ve watched! I was hoping for more Christmas granny squares. All I could was a bauble one. I usually watch “Alison Crochet” Sges in Scotland, does a lot of baby blankets but uses nice stitches that I use for other items! She’s very calming. And explains thjngs well like you do. But I’ve been crocheting for over 50+ years, so I’m pretty advanced. It I still love simple patterns!! Like this one. Thanks a lot
Hi Jayda, what a great way to use those extra scraps. I bet this would make a beautiful summer afghan. Would like to see a future tutorial on this project.
I have enjoyed making these mesh Granny squares. I used muted fall colors and they are so pretty, but now I’m not sure the best way to join to complete my blanket. I’ve looked at all your tutorials, however Im still not sure the best way and how to do the corners and if I should be skipping stitches. I know there are others who would appreciate help to join. Thank You so much Jayda.
Hi Yvonne! I would opt for one of two suggestions, depending on the project 1) sewing - a simple whip stitch through each set of stitches and chains (or the spaces) or 2) chains and slip stitches - this continues the open mesh-like appearance (join with a sl st in a corner, chain 1 or 2, sl st into the next corner sp of the other square, ch 1 or 2, sl st into the next sp along the first square, ch 1 or 2, sl st into the next sp along the other square etc.). It will use up more yarn and it will also add some width and height to your project, so something to keep in mind 💗
I've had scrap yarn balls of yarn rolled up for some time. Ran across this square and started working it up its going to make a beautiful blanket or shrug. Haven't decided yet but loving the look of it. 😊
Thank you Jayda for your speedy reply. I will try both of your suggestions. That was very kind of you to write out the instructions for me and others. Your gift of teaching has helped me so much and you have a great camera and you don’t go too fast for those of us who struggle a bit. ❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 A dozen roses for you!
Hey Jayda!! I appreciate this video!! You show very clearly where to stich! I slowed the video down to .75x and was actually able to make one with minimum rewinding! 😄
I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on a willow square? You’re so easy to learn from! I appreciate the time you take to make such thorough videos! Thank you so much!
I love, love, love this GS! I never use markers but you’re spot on with markers in this pattern, it’s so much easier! I was looking for a GS pattern to make a summer top and this is it! TY so much for sharing your talent and being absolutely thorough teaching (as always💜). You rock! 💜🧶💜
Love this! Thanks, Jayda! I hope you and Mr. Institches are doing well. It’s a beautiful sunny day in southern Indiana today, and after a winter cold snap, the sun and warmer weather is much appreciated. Take care.
Hi! Thank you for the suggestion :) We made up a cute one last fall that has a Pencil theme: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dXM-LnuaKHc.html
Good Evening Jayda from California, I just watched your Video, So Beautiful your granny square tutorial, I'm still learning how to make a Granny Square pattern, it will happen. Always Beautiful your Tutorials. God Bless you and your Husband Always 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Jayda!! This is perfect for a summer blanket. Always another fabulous tutorial!! A special hi to Mr. Institches! P.S. maybe a crochet toy for the beach?
Is there a way to make these like a rectangle granny?? I like to make infinite granny blankets and rectangles work up so much faster. This would be a great stitch for a summer blanket!
What a beautiful granny square pattern. I am looking at making a queen size afghan with a variegated yarn. I would like to use this granny square pattern as one big granny square for the afghan. Any suggestions or maybe a future tutorial would be greatly appreciated. Thank you & Mr. Stitches for all that you guys do. Have a sunny day
Hi Donna! You can certainly just keep going with this pattern :) to avoid having that funny "lean" you might want to change directions at the end of each row. The pattern doesn't change though, you still (dc, ch 2) in every DC st and treat the corners exactly the same way :)
@@JaydaInStitches okay 👍 thank you for sharing your tips😊 I have done many of your crochet projects via youtube tutorials. They are made easy to follow & your love of crochet inspires others🌼
Hi Ann! These can be joined just about any way you like. For an invisible seam, the mattress stitch is a nice choice. For something more substantial the slip stitch join is quite firm and creates a solid "frame" for each square too. 😊
Hi! I haven't tried that myself, it might work (you should give it a try!) but I wonder if the 2 chains between the shorter stitches might skew the pattern?
Angela wright Hi Mrs stitches I like those squares and I like the colors you used and it's a beautiful how are you doing today's I am doing fine today's from columbus ga 🙂🐿💓💜💘❤💙⚘🌹
So i have done this for a throw blanket. The middle section is messed up and will not lay flat. Can you help me? Can you do a video making one square a blanket?
Hi Kimberely, have you blocked it? That would help any tension in the centre of your blanket smooth out: Steam Blocking: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HUlrCf9IDFI.html Wash and Block: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lZuIiDHdpT8.html
Hi Patricia, that would depend on the look I was going for: for obvious seams sc or slip stitch, for less obvious (all same colour square edges) sewing whip stitch and for invisible seams, ladder stitch. A mesh join would be really cute too if you wanted to continue the open look, BUT that would create a diagonal shaping between the squares, so that wouldn't be my first choice 😊
Hi Kelli! Personally, I would likely sew them (whip stitch) but you could also use a join as you go technique where you link up in the ch-2 sps. That would also create an interesting zig-zag between squares :)
Hi Karen, you can join them in several ways, just like regular grannies. You would use the top of each dc stitch and each ch space. I prefer to whip stitch (sew them) together, it uses less yarn and is a fairly low-key join. We have a tutorial on joining here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-snZrl4Vsfi8.html
I absolutely adore your coasters, table runners, hats scarves and mittens and everything in between!! Just beautiful patterns and so easy to follow along with you! Very enjoyable and you are so talented-thank you for all your time and humor, a northern Minnesota crochet nut!!
